The ticking of the clock in my office seemed to echo loudly in the room as I fidgeted with papers, trying to distract myself from the anticipation gnawing at my nerves. Noelle's impending arrival had me on edge, and I couldn't help but wonder what she wanted to discuss. As the minutes passed, my anxiety only grew, and my mind conjured up all sorts of scenarios that might explain her unexpected visit. Had she and Alexandria planned this? I hate being caught unprepared.
Finally, the door creaked open, and Noelle stepped inside. Her presence, as always, commanded attention. She had an air of elegance and strength that made it difficult to look away. However, today, her usually confident demeanor seemed tinged with something else—hesitation, perhaps? Am I just being hopeful?
"Noelle, it's good to see you," I greeted her, trying to sound composed despite the turmoil inside me.
