The dark clouds were still covering the blue sky and weren't planning on leaving anytime soon. Not knowing what to do anymore, she went to her friend's place.
Before knocking on the door, she thought to herself 'I need help' and thus, she knocked on the door. She waited, nothing. She knocked again only for the door to be opened by someone she hadn't met before.
"Good morning" the man greeted her. He had noticed that she was confused "Ah that's right, we haven't met before, I'm Regal" the man had extended his hand for a handshake. Looking at it then looking back up to the man.
"Morning, its nice to meet you Regal, I'm Alicia" shaking his hand she asked, "Is Emma here?"
"Who?" Regal gave Alicia a confused expression, not knowing who she is talking about.
"Emma Summits?" Alicia started to panic at the thought that she and her parents had vanished along with her parents.
"Haha, kidding! The look on your face was priceless. Come on in kiddo, she's in her room". Hearing that it was a joke, she relaxed giving Regal a small laugh. Alicia walked in the house and walked up the stairs, passing by the other rooms, she knocked on Emma's door and tells her to come in.
At the sight of Emma, Alicia can't hold her tears in anymore and runs up to Emma to hug her, "Oh my god Alicia, what's gotten into you? Did something happen?" She asked while hugging her back.
"My parents are gone, they just… vanished" it was hard for Alicia to say it out loud, even more while crying. Emma knew how strong she was, she was always thinking positive thoughts, even if something bad has happened, she always stayed strong but losing her parents again, was the last straw for her.
After hours gone by, Alicia had decided to stay for lunch as she had no money to buy food, she was soon to be kicked out of her very own home, she would be poor and parentless.
After she had lunch with the Summits, she forbid a goodbye to the family, and gave Emma one last hug before leaving. She didn't want her friend to go but there was no room for Alicia to stay.
When Alicia left, Emma gave her parents a suspicious look as they were good friends with the
Lawsons and walked to her parent's room, leaving her parents to entertain a guest. Emma went straight to their bed and bent down, looking underneath, grabbing a small box.
Emma opened the box and picked up the necklace, similar to Alicia's but on the back, it had words and numbers engraved onto it: 1847 23rd August. Emma realised that the 23rd had already past, as it was the day Alicia's parents had disappeared.
It was the 24th today. Emma sighed and put the necklace back underneath the bed leaving the room to go to her own.
Alicia, unsure of what to do, walked along a trail in the village looking up into the sky, the clouds were back again she thought to herself, who was she kidding? It was winter now, chuckling to herself.
The village was somewhat small, it had a population of near 345. Almost everyone knew each other, well, the kind ones got along with each other better than the others. Reaching the end of the trail, she stared straight in front of her, zoned out. "I don't know what to do".
Alicia was only 17, she had lost her parents once again.
When she was young, her parents left her a note in the morning saying that they'll be back in a couple of days, but they never returned, the girl was devastated and scared.
She had wandered the streets of a different village where she used to live. Everyone looked a different way, people were cruel there. One-night Alicia found herself near her limits, desperately wanting food, she begs at anyone in the market, everyone had turned her down, not giving her any food nor money. She had no choice but to pick pocket from a middle-aged man.
"What do you think you're doing?!" The girl had been caught red handed, before she can run away from the man grabbed a hold of her "You're not getting away" the man growled at her, giving a cold stare.
