Chapter Twenty-eight - Katherine and Adrian

Frederick's legs finally moved, minutes after Katherine's laughter still echoed in his mind. He was still trying to process the revelation that his mother was alive, and that she was… a witch. That was the only term that came to mind as he thought of her; a witch. But as the initial stunned silence wore off, he felt a surge of adrenaline. He needed to know what she was planning… and why they were so against Stacey.

He quickly got up and ran after her, his feet carrying him towards the direction she had walked away in. He didn't know what he hoped to achieve, but he needed answers.

As he raced out the door, he sited Katherine standing with Adrian, Stacey's personal bodyguard. Frederick's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with questions. What was Adrian doing with his mother? Why were they talking in hushed tones?

Frederick slowed down, watching the exchange from a distance. It was a strange sight, and Frederick's instincts told him something was off.
