Prologue: Override

"Tell me where he is!" The eliminator persisted, coercing everyone in that building at that time to reveal the exact location of the dystopian monster.

"I don't know where he is," My mother persisted, but that was also true, because that hour when I sneaked out of the house, I made my way to some place you wouldn't expect a teenager to be seen, except he was dead. The night was comfortably disturbing and it was peaceful out here, but this whole hunger to be at the local cemetery was just a setup, one planned by an irresponsible father.

This was another moment of all the multiple times I've been in the midst of the dead, but yet even after sixteen years of living in human pain, I have not been able to level up, nor use the hereditary traits of my irresponsible father.

But somehow, I feel that is about to come to an end...

The man urged forward towards my mom and whispered in her ears, and all of a sudden, I couldn't hear a thing any longer, somewhat, this message was too much to carry. However, after he must've whispered, he grabbed his gun and pulled his trigger at Val, my little stepsister. I felt the grip on her heart, it pierced through her and down my spines, hitting the coral of my mixed emotions. But I was only coerced to shut up and watch, and this tragedy had only just began its agony.

"You only have ten seconds to make your decision now," The eliminator smirked at my mom after she let out an Indistinct noise. "So what is it gonna be, your life or the world's safety?"

My mom turned to look at me, there was agony in her eyes, but then it slowly crept into a crooked smile, and she bared her teeth, her eyebrows formed a stiff crescent and her face left no clue, her expression was nothing related to the issue facing her.

"5,...4,....3,....2,...1,..." And just like that, everything changed. There was a quick gush of blood and the ghastly picture become a kryptonic appearance. Mom screamed, not like a normal human would, but she screeched like a bat, her mouth wide open as black blood overflowed from it. And then she glared at me again, with that same creepy smile on her face.
