36 I’m Dying

The next morning, Han Yue Xiu was not surprised to see the amount of missed calls and messages from her boss. Last night, she had switched off her phone to avoid her boss, and later, when Li Qin Yao came, Han Yue Xiu had forgotten to switch her switch on her phone.

Han Yue Xiu clicked on the unread message and sneered. In the beginning, the messages were asking why she did not pick up her phone. Later, Han Yue Xiu could detect the impatient and anger in her boss' tone.

However, after a few minutes, his tone softened, and he started to coax her to send a word back to him. Her boss's last work was a warning that she should prepare herself with an acceptable excuse as she comes to work in the morning.

Reading the countless messages on her WeChat, Han Yue Xiu started to debate with herself whether she should show up to work or not. In the end, Han Yue Xiu decided to show up. She should face the consequences of her actions. Worst comes to worst; she would probably lose this job.

Although Han Yue Xiu enjoyed her work and felt that her colleagues were friendly, Han Yue Xiu thought that her boss was an eccentric who enjoyed torturing her with work and overtime. Although there were countless times that she had thought of quitting, in the end, Han Yue Xiu decided to stay because of the perks given by the company.

Han Yue Xiu stepped out of her room once she had cleaned up and get dressed,

Thinking about her best friend's breakup last night, Han Yue Xiu decided to check on her friend in the guest room. However, Li Qin Yao's silhouette could not be seen.

Han Yue Xiu looked around as she called "Yao Yao!"

"Yue Xiu," Li Qin Yao's voice came out as a whisper.

Han Yue Xiu followed the voice and found her friend sprawled on the sofa with her hair covering most of her face. Fortunately, it was daytime, or else, Han Yue Xiu might mistake her best friend as a ghost.

"What's wrong with you? Why are you sleeping on the sofa?"

"Yue Xiu," Li Qin Yao whispered. "I'm dying."

"You're going through a breakup. You're not dying," Han Yue Xiu felt the corner of her mouth started to twitch. She crouched down and helped to tidy up Li Qin Yao's hair. It was then that she noticed how her friend had tears in her eyes.

"Yue Xiu," Li Qin Yao curled herself into a ball and cried. "It's painful."

"You're going to be okay," Han Yue Xiu tried to coax. "Yao Yao, I promise you that you will meet someone better than Chen Hao. Maybe you have already met this guy but missed the chance because you were dating Chen Hao previously. Maybe you will meet him when you walk out the door today. When God closes a door, He opens a window. Things will only get better for you."

Han Yue Xiu continued to speak a few more words that she thought were suitable for her friend. As someone who had never got herself into a relationship, Han Yue Xiu found that she was helpless to try and persuade someone who was going through a breakup. Perhaps she should look over the internet later for some tips.

Suddenly, Li Qin Yao let out a painful groan, followed by a sob.

"Yao Yao! What happened to you?" Han Yue Xiu looked at her friend and panicked.

She knew that a breakup could be painful, but Han Yue Xiu did not realize that it was going to be that painful!

"Yue Xiu," Li Qin Yao spoke weakly. Her arms wrapped around her stomach. "My stomach hurts so much!"

In the end, Han Yue Xiu took Li Qin Yao to a hospital. It was then that they found out that Li Qin Yao was suffering from diarrhea from overeating spicy food last night.

The elderly doctor gave the two girls a scolding for their carelessness. Li Qin Yao only felt slightly better after an injection. Because her condition was quite bad, the doctor suggested for Li Qin Yao to be hospitalized.

Of course, Han Yue Xiu agreed. Even if Li Qin Yao did not want to spend the night in the hospital, she was forced to it.

After all, Han Yue Xiu still had to show up at work, and she would be worried as there was no one beside Li Qin Yao.

Just as Han Yue Xiu finished with the admission procedure, her phone started to ring. Han Yue Xiu stared at the screen for five seconds before she slid her fingers on the screen.

"Han Yue Xiu, you finally know how to pick up your phone!" Her boss's voice blasted from the speaker.

"Boss Song," Han Yue Xiu spoke softly.

"Where are you? Why aren't you at work?"

"I'm at the hospital. I will-" her words left unfinished as her boss's voice could be heard on the other line.

"Hospital?" his voice toned down a bit. "Why are you at the hospital? Han Yue Xiu, are you unwell?"

Han Yue Xiu massaged the space between her eyebrow and sighed. "I'm fine. It's my friend who. I'll come to work once I finished with the procedure."

Once Han Yue Xiu hung up her phone, Li Qin Yao pulled at her friend's sleeve.

"Yue Xiu, you should go to work," Li Qin Yao said. "I'll be fine here. The nurses can look after me."

Han Yue Xiu stared at her friend for a few seconds longer before she nodded. "Okay. Then, I'll come back after work and bring along some dinner. Do you want anything? Forget it. The doctor warned you to look after your diet. I'll bring some porridge in the evening."

"Good," Li Qin Yao nodded. After some persuasion, Han Yue Xiu finally left, while Li Qin Yao sat at the chair, waiting for the nurse to bring her to the ward.

As she was waiting, someone sat beside her. Li Qin Yao looked up, and her gaze met with an old man. Coincidentally, both of them lifted their heads at the same time and caught each other's stare.

Instead of looking away, the two ended up staring at each other with a curious gaze for a long time. Both of them felt as if they had seen each other before, but was not sure where or when was the last time they saw each other.
