Let Me Go

(At the Earth kingdom)

Lucy looked at the man standing in front of her and told him to come and sit beside her. The man then glared at her and shook his head.

Lucy touched the man's shoulder. "Mateo, I know you're really disappointed about it, but I can make you happier."

Mateo rolled his eyes. "I don't need you in my life. You're the one dragging me down."

"I've loved you longer than she did."

"Lucy, stop being childish."

She hugged him. "Don't you like it?"

Mateo pushed her away. "Get your filthy hands off me."

"I really don't get why you hate me so much."

"There are a hundred reasons to despise you."

"I don't mind if you hate me because I love you."

"Stop being so sweet. It's horrid."

"I'd do anything for you." Lucy chuckled.

Mateo then explained that even if they did get married, they'd be both unhappy for the rest of their lives because it's a one sided love.

As soon as Lucy heard that, she froze. A lot of people have been telling her to give up on Mateo, but she wouldn't listen to them. She loved him and she couldn't let him go. Even if it hurts her, she'll do anything to be with him.

Lucy smirked. "I don't mind as long as I have you."

Mateo started walking toward his bed. "Lucy, please get out of my room. I need to rest."

"Why? I can rest with—"

"Lucy, please!"

The princess made her way out of the room. "I'll come back in a few hours."

When Lucy left Mateo's room she saw Gabriel. The little boy then smiled and told her that she looked pretty.

Lucy pinched his cheeks. "Thank you!"

"Aunt Lucy, I heard you're going to marry Uncle Mateo soon," Gabriel said.

"I am. What's the problem?"

"Uncle Mateo has someone in his heart already. Why not let him be with her?"

Lucy bent down. "Gabriel, I really love your uncle Mateo okay?"

"Aunt Lucy, I'm telling you this because I don't want you to get hurt."

"Thank you for your concern, but aunt will do anything just to marry Mateo."

"Aunt, don't you have someone who you love too?"

"I've only loved Mateo."

"Aunt Lucy, please think about this."

"Thank you, Gabriel. I will," Lucy said as she headed towards the royal garden.

(At the royal garden)

"Why doesn't he love me? Why does life hate me so much?" Lucy cried.

"That means he isn't the one for you," a voice said.

Lucy then looked back and saw Josh.

The princess smiled. "It's nice seeing you again, general."

Josh then sat down beside her and told her that there was no use in crying because she had to choose to either let Mateo be with her or the one he truly loves.

"Of course I'll let Mateo be with me!"

Josh sighed, "Princess, if Mateo loves someone else, then let him go."

The princess stood up. "I can't!"

"You can. I believe in you."

"He loves Mia and I can't let them be together."

"Princess, I know this isn't the right time to say this but, you have to accept the fact that no matter what you do, he will never love you," Josh said.

The princess sighed, "I treat you as a friend, Josh. I won't say anything since I don't want to fight with you. You aren't like other servants who just serve me for money. That's why, thank you."

"Anything, your highness. If you need someone to talk to, I'm always here for you."

"Don't you have anything else to do?"

"I can stay. I'm on a break." Josh smiled.

A few hours later...

Valentina slammed the table and asked the princess why she didn't listen to her about avoiding Josh. Lucy then explained that Josh was just her friend.

Valentina scratched her head. "You're a princess! You aren't suppose to be talking to a general!"

Antonio touched his wife's shoulder. "Valentina, don't shout at her. She just needs someone to talk to."

"Doesn't she have us?"

"We should understand her, Valentina."

Lucy folded her arms. "I'm not cutting ties with Josh."

Valentina shouted, "You—"

"It's fine," Antonio sighed.

Valentina looked at her husband. "Antonio?"

"She is my sister."

"Fine, but know your status, Lucy."

Lucy smiled. "Thank you, brother."

"If you need anything, just tell us," Antonio responded.

"Thanks for also agreeing, Valentina," Lucy said.

The queen sighed, "No problem, but you shouldn't always meet up with him."

"How's your relationship with Mateo?" the king suddenly asked.

"It's fine," Lucy lied.

The queen said, "That's great! At least you both are starting to get to know each other."

"He's been really kind to me," Lucy said as tears started falling from her eyes.

"Lucy, what's wrong?" Antonio asked.

Valentina touched her hand. "Why are you crying?"

Lucy smiled. "Nothing, I'm just tired."
