Be A Dick To You All The Time

Megan had intended to stare at her phone screen for the entire free period and join Mabel for lunch later but someone else had other plans for her.

All of a sudden, the door to the empty class room opened and in came the last person she would expect to see.

" You have free period or are you just skipping class?", he asked as he grabbed a seat next to her.

" Oh no my satan is worried about me... but don't worry if it's about heading to hell, I don't think I'm escaping it", she said in reference to how boring her life was and how she was even scared of carrying on.

Jace smiled at her and kept the pile of flyers he was carrying on top of the desk. Turning to face her, he sighed and asked, " What happened? Who hurt you? Is it Holden?", he continued blabbing and she turned her head to him just to glare at him.

" Why do you always think all my problems are related to Holden? Just because I had one dumb, stupid, crazy, crush on your fucked up brother, you think I Only have problems because of him? That's too childish Jace", she said softly and turned away from him.

" That was just an assumption okay... Am sorry for pissing you off like that... You're not in a good mood and I should have payed attention to that, than be a dick to you all the time", Jace apologized softly after a while of Megan's outburst and Megan turned her head to him in shock.

He didn't expect Megan to react that way. Those times when he used to ask her questions about what was wrong. She would totally forget what was wrong and ask him subtly about Holden. She never made her feelings too clear when it came to him but he started deducing that the girl only had problems in the aspect where she couldn't get Holden.

" What's up? Is everything fine?", he asked again and just like a button had be triggered in her system to cry when anyone showed any ounce of care, she started sobbing.

" I'm tired Jace, I'm tired, I'm just so tired", she said and turned away from him. She didn't know how to explain it in a way it wouldn't sound crazy but she did feel tired.

" I'm not looking for someone to listen, I just don't want to tell anyone. I feel like it's pointless if I do. I know Mabel and I are hitting it off lately but she's been too excited that I don't want to ruin it with my problems, I just feel tired", she voiced out and wiped her tears.

" Hey relax, relax, don't feel that way... You know am pretty sure Megan would feel good knowing you could bother about how she felt but sometimes, am sure she wishes you would share your pain with her. What are friends for if you hide the part where you are sad?", he asked and she just kept staring far away.

" You should tell Mabel about it. Besides you do not want to carry this burden till on Monday... Trust me, entering another year in your life with pain is really not good", he said lightly and she chuckled.

She had almost forgotten that her birthday was on Monday. She turned around to face him and he was staring at her intently. She had never thought of Jace as the serious kind of guy, he was too playfully mischievous that you could call him mischief instead of Jace.

But he gave her a wonderful idea of sharing everything with Mabel. She could only hope she wouldn't back down at the end but she wasn't going to tell him that, obviously.....
