CHAPTER 18
According to what they discussed, Jade came in the morning to the office, dressed like a PR worker and pretended she had an interview with the Vice President.
At the end, Jade was in the elevator, preparing to go down and continue her shopping when she heard the sound.
Ding!
Shortly after, two men dressed in corporate black suits stepped right in. The elevator closed behind them, and they proceeded to stand behind Jade, thinking she was the elevator lady.
"Yeah, the new gang sure got a nice set up here. I heard it would be opening tonight and rumour has it that the Anders Group is an investor."
As soon as the men entered they continued with their conversation.
"Take us to the first floor," one of the men in a black suit and green shirt said, noticing that Jade was silent and didn't do anything.
"Yes, sir."
She answered politely and did as she was asked to. If it was on a regular day, she would have told him off that she wasn't an elevator lady, but pushed it off and decided to play the part due to their discussion.
'Good, news on the Anders Group. It looks like they are expanding into Star Cross City in disguise.' Jade thought to herself. 'All I need is to get the location of this club and check out what's going on.'
"Yes, yes. It is at West Star Road. I will have my men hit it up and give me feedback if it is worth our investment too."
'Thank you, misters, you gave me all the info I needed. Jade, looks like you have a date.'
By the time she left the company, it was already late morning. She heaved a sigh and made her way to the nearest grocery store, weaving past the crowds of people going about their everyday lives.
******
In one of the cars driving along the busy road, was Xander, the proud, cold, intelligent, cunning, wealthy CEO.
{Xander: Do not forget to add dashing author ( (~_^)) and strong too, you know.}
And dashingly, handsome CEO of the Warner's Corporation. He was busy on his phone when it rang, disturbing his activity.
'Sky! Now what does this sly fox want?' he asked himself in his mind before picking the call.
"What is it?" His deep baritone voice rang out from his end of the phone in the most disinterested manner.
"Where are you, Xan? The meeting is about to start. I have delayed the investors long enough." Sky asked him, his voice portraying all the anger he felt for his friend's tardiness.
"Hey, I am not late, it is just thirty minutes past ten. The exact time for the meeting," Xander refuted his words.
"True, but they arrived here thirty minutes early. Aren't you supposed to show an example?"
"I had things to take care of. So what if they are early? Start without me."
"They wouldn't start without you."
"Hmm…"
Sky heaved a deep sigh at his friend's behaviour. "And where is Jay? Please tell me he is with you too," Sky said anxiously. His two friends were going to be the death of him.
They always left everything in his hand for him to handle and act nonchalantly, especially you know who.
'Damn it, I forgot about the meeting and sent him the punishment early in the morning. Sky would kill me if he finds out.'
"Xander! Have you seen Jay? Is he with you?" Sky's yelling voice came in again, pulling Xander out of his thoughts.
"No, he is not. I sent him a present this morning, so he may not be joining us this morning," Jay replied honestly and awaited the reply.
"You what! Have you gone nuts? How could you do that when we have an important meeting?" Sky hollered into the phone, making Xander pull it away from his ear and miss the next rain of yelling and scolding.
"I'll be there in two. Have them wait for me."
Without further ado, he hung up the call and dropped the phone on the seat beside him.
'Because of that brat, Sky scolded me. I would give him something more fitting than the present he received this morning.'
With his plan set in place, Xander turned his gaze outside the car. It was just the same normal everyday people going about their everyday lives.
He sighed deeply and was about to peel his eyes off the side of the road when his eyes caught sight of her.
Jade who was hurrying through the crowd had no sense of someone watching her and continued on her way.
Badum! Badum!
"Pull over!" he said in a raised voice as his right hand moved to clutch on the area above his heart.
SCREECH!
Immediately the car stopped, he opened the door and rushed out with his phone in his hand and his eyes scanning and searching the crowd for her.
'Damn it, I was sure she was here just now.' He thought, racking his brain to remember what she was wearing as it was hard to get a full picture since she was mixed in the crowd of people.
Seconds later, six men clad in black suits appeared before him with their heads lowered. "Boss!"
"Clear them. Find a lady dressed in a sky blue tuck-in short sleeve shirt and wavy long brown hair.
"Yes, boss!"
He gave his orders and dashed away, searching by himself.
As the men tried clearing the crowd and preventing more people from passing, unknown to them, Jade had already slipped past all of them before the clearing started and entered into the grocery store.
'Where is she? Where are you hiding, tigress?'
No sooner had he thought of that, than his phone rang again. It was from Sky. Apparently, it had been three minutes already and he promised Sky two.
He ignored it and continued searching.
By now that area was cleared, as men and women stopped in their tracks, waiting for whatever ruckus that was happening to be over, while those who couldn't wait, crossed the busy road to the other side of the road.
"Isn't that the CEO of the Warner's Corporation?"
"Yes."
"What is he doing here?"
