CHAPTER 17

Adela's Point of View

It has been two days since Ares, Olivia's brother, had his birthday party.

And guess what, the most memorable thing from that entire day is what happened between Primo and me.

At first, I thought it was just a dream, but I was wrong. I remember every detail too well to dismiss it as a mere dream. I confirmed it the last time I saw Primo. He reminded me of it, so I'm sure it really happened. Since Ares' birthday ended, I've been avoiding Primo as much as I can because I'm so embarrassed about what happened.

Adding to my boredom is Olivia starting her job. Today is her first day, but she's already so busy. So, I have no one to talk to or hang out with. Demeter, whom I could chat with, is also busy with her tasks in the mansion. I don't want to bother her just for a chat.

That's why I decided to bake cupcakes to give to the staff working at the hotel. I thought of visiting the hotel today because I haven't been to that part yet. Even though I can see it from here, I haven't set foot inside.

"Miss Adela!" one of my assistants called as they finished packing the cupcakes into a container that I would take with me.

I turned to her with a smile. "Everything is all set, Miss. Where should I place these?"

"Just leave them there, I'll take care of it," I replied, and she nodded before excusing herself and leaving.

I readily agreed since I didn't need any more help. The preparations were done, and now I was heading to the hotel.

But before doing so, I changed my outfit. I opted for peach-colored slacks and a white t-shirt tucked in. I put on some doll shoes and tied my long black hair into a ponytail. I left my innocent-looking eyes devoid of any makeup, as I'm not fond of it. My lips remained a natural shade of rose. My cheeks were simple, without the rosy hue that some people prefer.

I took a deep breath and exited my room, picking up the paper bags filled with cupcakes.

I informed the staff about the cupcakes, and they had no issue with it. Besides, lunchtime was approaching, so they could also enjoy them.

The hotel wasn't too far from the mansion, so I hailed a tricycle that was available within the resort. I hadn't realized that there were tricycles here. Perhaps I've been too preoccupied with Olivia that I forgot to explore the entire resort.

Upon reaching the hotel, I paid the tricycle driver and even gave him a Tupperware container filled with six cupcakes. I had made plenty, so I was sure they wouldn't run out quickly.

"Thank you, Ma'am!" he said, waving the Tupperware and I smiled, nodding in response.

I observed as the tricycle drove away and then looked at the hotel, a massive building. From here, I could still see the sea, albeit at a greater distance, which is probably why they have tricycles.

I entered the building and immediately noticed the pleasant fragrance that wafted through the air. My entrance was halted as the guard scrutinized me.

"Hello!" I greeted the guard, who seemed to recognize me.

"I'm Adela, a guest of the Monteros," I introduced myself, and his eyes widened before nodding.

"Oh, I see, Ma'am. You may proceed," he said, but before entering, I handed him a container of cupcakes.

"For dessert later during lunchtime."

"Oh, thank you very much, Ma'am!" he exclaimed, and I smiled before finally entering the hotel.

I paused when my gaze met Archer's. He was here at the hotel, and I had no idea.

"Glad you're here," he said as we approached each other, his eyes shifting to the container I was carrying.

"What's that?" he asked with a serious tone.

Unlike Primo, Archer had tanned skin and a very manly demeanor. Their features were almost the same, but Archer's presence felt different to me. I don't know, maybe it's because his face seemed more mature?

My thoughts started to wander again. My mind went to places it shouldn't. Ugh, it's so frustrating. I've been so absent-minded these past few days. I'm not even doing drugs, so I can't understand why I'm feeling so scattered.

"Uh, cupcakes. I made them to give out here because I was bored and had nothing to do at the mansion," I explained quickly, and he nodded in response to my words.

"Well, just leave it at the front desk. They'll distribute it. We're going to work on something, so let's go," he said, surprising me.

"Work on something? I don't have any knowledge about business!" I exclaimed, and he glanced at me with a raised eyebrow.

"We're not going to discuss business; it's for a different reason. Let's go," he said, and I nodded before leaving the paper bags of cupcakes at the front desk.

I instructed the woman at the front desk on what to do, and she readily agreed to handle it.

I followed Archer's lead and was even more surprised when he gestured for me to get into his car.

"I could've just taken a tricycle," I mumbled softly, but it was enough for him to hear.

"You think I'd agree? Just go inside," he said wearily, and I had no choice but to get into his car. As I settled into the passenger's seat, he promptly closed the door.

I reached for the seat belt to fasten it. Just as I attached it to the lock, he got into his car.

"We have a quick stop to make before heading to our destination," he said, and I nodded. I didn't want to ask questions; we weren't close enough to have a conversation. Besides, I'm not used to talking to people I'm not close with. It's awkward for me to converse with him, especially since I have a crush on him – it adds to the embarrassment. I'm quite amazed by people who can talk to their crushes or people they like without breaking a sweat. How do they do that?

While he was driving, I gazed out of the window. We were leaving the Hotel and Resort area now, so all I could see were the surroundings within their resort.

"Since Ares' birthday ended, I haven't seen you and Primo together. Did you two fight with each other?" he suddenly asked, causing me to shift my gaze to him, even though he continued to stare ahead.

"Ah, no."

I didn't want to look at him because of what I did. I'm so embarrassed about my foolishness. I can't even understand why I did that to him – there was no reason for me to kiss him.

I swear, I'm never drinking again. I might end up kissing someone in an unenjoyable manner. It's hard, I might end up kissing Primo again, and he might assume I have feelings for him!

'Don't you really have feelings for him?' a voice in the back of my mind whispered, and I rolled my eyes.

Why would I ever develop feelings for that flirt? Tsk! Never!
