Loving Is Difficult

I woke up to the sound of rain drops pattering on the window. it's been raining cats and dogs for the past one week and I was seriously hoping that the rain would at least reduce today or even stop, but then what do you expect when you stay in London?

Today is my three years anniversary with my boyfriend and I'm so happy cause this is the longest relationship I have had after three heartbreaks. I had planned out so many things for today but the problem was that my boyfriend hasn't really been picking up his calls for the past one week. And when I text him, his reply was that he was busy so I let it slide cause work alone must be taking a toll on him.

I picked up my phone to see if there was any message from Dave but to my disappointment there was none.

"Could he have forgotten about our anniversary??" I wondered in my mind.

I called to wish him but his phone was switched off, so I just shrugged it off since I will be seeing him later.

I prepared to go to his house, taking my time to do my makeup and all. I had just finished dressing up when my phone rang , I quickly picked up my phone thinking it was Dave only to sigh in disappointment seeing "Mira" on the screen.

"Hey babe, beautiful morning" came the shrill voice as soon as I picked the call.

"Hey Mira, how are you?" I answered while trying to strap my heels properly.

"I'm fine, happy three years anniversary babe. You've hit the jackpot this time around. Like this this is the longest you've been in a relationship, who knows what surprise Dave might be cooking up for you tonight... I see a ring coming bitch" she said laughing loudly.

"I don't know Mira, it's supposed to be our anniversary today but Dave hasn't even called me. I haven't even gotten a text from him!!" I said in exasperation. I seriously was getting a little bit worried.

"Calm down sugar, maybe he overslept, don't start getting worried and spoil your day."

"Thanks dearie but I really need to go now, got a lot of things to do."

"Alright sweetie, dress to kill cause I know after the proposal hot sex is gonna follow" I laughed and shook my head at her statement.

"Bye Mira."

"Ciao."

I shook my head as soon as the call disconnected. I looked at myself in the mirror one last time and smiled in contention with my appearance.

"Lord, I'm one fine bitch" I said in my mind.

I quickly took my bag from the bed and grabbed my car keys from the dressing room and left the house.

Driving into Dave's driveway, I turned down the volume of my music and came down shutting the car with a loud bang. I walked towards his door with a smile on my face and opened it with my spare key only to meet the house in shambles.

The house was in a mess, bottles of wine were littered on the floor and a strong smell of weed filled the house.

"When did Dave start smoking?" I wondered aloud.

The stench made my stomach coil in disgust, I was still trying to register in my mind what was going on when I heard faint strange sounds coming from the bedroom.

I took in a sharp breath as I walked slowly towards the bedroom. The sounds were now becoming clearer and it seemed like that of a woman moaning. My chest tightened as it dawned on me that Dave might actually be cheating on me. I quickly pushed the door open and came to face the one of the most horrible sights in my life. Dave wasn't just ramming into any girl but into Mira. I stood there for some minutes but they were too busy to notice me.

"What the fuck!!, Dave!" I shouted as tears came rushing down. He quickly jumped off Mira and scampered around for clothing while Mira just sat there nonchalantly.

"Hey babe, what are you doing here?" Dave asked while running his hand through his long hair. The hair that I thought only I could touch.

"What am I doing here?"

"Today was supposed to be our anniversary, but I come to find out that you're cheating on me! With no other person but Mira??" My eyes went to Mira only to see her fake yawning.

How could she do this to me? She was like the sister I never had. Ffs we spoke on the phone this morning.

"How could you of all people do this to me Mira? I thought we were best friends. We literally did everything together, everything! So how could you betray me like this."

"Oh please, spare me the sob story. Best friends? I never once considered you my best friend. You were just a stepping stone to my success. You had money so you were just of use to me" she said flipping her hair.

"Look Jen, let's go out and talk" he made a move to grab my hand but I forcefully slapped it off.

"Don't you even dare touch me, you'd better start explaining right now, because I'm not moving an inch from here."

"Come on babe, why don't you tell little missy the truth" Mira said while rolling her eyes.

"I love you Jen, I really do. I don't know what came over me..."

"Don't you dare finish that statement. You want to keep on lying to her? After she still found us like this? Why don't you tell her that the only reason you dated her was for her money."

"Have you forgotten our plan? You were going to marry her and divorce her after one year to be able to get some of her properties."

I stood there mouth wide open in shock. I couldn't even move. I clutched my chest because of the pain I was feeling. I could hardly breathe. This was the person I was looking forward to spending the rest of my life with. How could they do this to me? I thought Mira was my best friend.

"Jen I can explain, just give me a chance..."

I didn't even wait to hear the rest from his dirty mouth as I ran out of his house. I needed air, I needed to breath properly. I ran to my car, got in and drove away with full speed.

Love?? Who said it's a beautiful thing. Love is just something that makes you weak and vulnerable. I wiped away my tears and decided never to give love a chance again.
