Chapter 3

Rachel's eyes stared blankly into mine as we she just said hit my heart, "How are we the only ones left?"

I looked up at Aili whose face had the same look depicting how I felt, "I don't know," she said her golden eyes wide in shock

I closed Rachels lifeless eyes as I stood. "Where are the Fates at this point," I asked as I turned to the doors which were busted off their hinges. "Sam, Shanda, you two need to get here as soon as possible something happened on Bita and we don't know how to handle this."

I walked out of the throne room and into a courtyard that was just a solemn as the once grandeur throne room. "Who did this," Sam asked as I turned to see her with her wife and our advisors

"Their parents," I began, trying to be strong, "they had the parents of the last King and Queen on their side. Before Rachel died she said that we were the last two left in the council," I said with a sigh. "We should make sure who's survived in minor gods and goddesses as well as check the domains."

"What you two need to do in this case is tell Dal about what happened and get the cabin counselors," Sam said as I looked at her. "Shanda and I will collect the dead and take into account all of the minor gods and goddesses. You are looking at two yourself," she finished with a sympathetic smirk

I sighed and nodded as I pictured the faun, "Aili," I began reaching my hand out to her, "we'll come back."

Aili nodded as she took my hand and I forced power into the image of Dal. "What in Winnie's name," the faun said as we appeared in front of him

"Sorry we appeared so suddenly Dal," Aili began for me as I worked on collecting my feelings. "We bring urgent news to tell you and the camp," she finished. She squeezed my hand in a universal sign of reassurance

"It is all right my Queen," he said with a polite nod to both of us as Tracy and Maurine appeared next to us. "What is it that you would like to report," he asked calmly

"Bita has fallen," I began, "we are the last two living council members in accordance to Rachel."

"How is this possible," the faun asked, stunned

"The parents of the council came," I began with a sigh, "we were on campus dealing with an attack planned on us. The rest of the council were fighting the parents who had the former King and Queens parents on their side."

"We had gone to Bita to report what had happened at the campus. It seems the attack on us was only a diversion," Aili continued for me. "They destroyed the thrones and it looked like they destroyed all of Bita. Sam and her wife Shanda are collecting the dead and surveying whose left."

"I can get our past architect for the rebuilding to help once more," Dal began as he stroked his goatee. "I'll tell the cabin counselors what has happened you go check the other domains where some of them may be."

I nodded as Stu and Hanni came through the door, "My King and Queen," Hanni said with a bow making me force a smile

"You do remember Hanni that I don't care for that right," I asked, making her chuckle. "The same goes for Aili, you don't have to be so formal around us," I added making Stu grin as he hadn't done anything

"My father's like that," he said with a chuckle, "is there any moment when we have to have the formalities?"

"In an audience on Bita," I answered with another forced smile as he mentioned his father

"What brings you two here," Dal asked as Stu blushed, "are the toilets broken again?"

"Yeah," he answered as Hanni stared at me, "I think it was a power flux because I haven't had any anger the past few days."

"Liz," Hanni began, "what's wrong?"

I looked at the goddess of wisdom's daughter in the face. "You can tell them, they're practically the leaders of the camp," Dal said.

I glanced at him with a sigh, "Stu," I began looking at him, "Hanni," I said with another sigh. "There's been an attack on Bita by the council's parents," I began. "There is a chance that your parents may have not survived."

"Their thrones were destroyed in the attack as well as a good portion of Bita," Dal explained. "We're going to need your assistance once more to get Bita back on its feet Miss Hakesley."

Hanni jumped at the use of her last name, "Right," she began, "let me go get the plans for rebuilding and I'll return."

"I can come with you if you need the company," Tracy offered to which I smiled with Hanni

"That would be greatly appreciated Tracy," she said and I nodded in my advisor's direction

"I think it would be best if you and Maurine go back with Hanni. We're only going into the domains of the other council members. I don't think we're going to be facing any trouble in their domains," I said to the advisor

"Yes," Aili agreed, "go help Sam and Shanda with pick up and see if Hanni needs help with rebuilding."

Hanni smiled as we finished. "Your rule will be a pleasant one after this war," she said before walking out of the building

Aili walked up next to me as Maurine and Tracy changed their clothes before following Hanni. "My father might be dead," Stu said, "this can't be true," he added as he started pacing back and forth. "Nothing has happened here since Darn came and now this, how did it happen?"

I sighed, "We don't know how it happened," I began turning to the son of Flinn. "Aili and I were fighting a spider-snake on campus as well as two others. We came just as some man was standing over Rachel who was dying," I explained

"We were going to Bita to inform everyone on the attack. We also went to see if there were any news of the attack," Aili began the sadness evident in her voice. "We didn't think we'd find this," she added as I watched a stray tear roll down her cheek

"This must explain how everyone was seeing our fight," I began thinking about who could be dead. "Dal, I don't think I met this god or goddess. Who controlled the magic keeping people from seeing what's actually happening?"

"She was my sister," Dal began the look of sorrow and despair evident in his eyes. "Her name was Dag; she gave me the nickname Dal so we had similar enough names. If she's dead that means our whole world will be revealed," he said prompting Aili to chuckled and I smile shyly

"About that," I began nervously as I scratched the back of my head, "since she died they saw Aili and I fight that monster. Sam told us through telepathy that we had to tell them everything so at least a whole campus knows."

"Well we should make it believable to the whole world," Stu suggested, "you have the president on our side. Considering Mic had discussed the project to every form of government I don't think they'd mind the truth."

I nodded, "That does sound like a good idea," I began as I looked at Aili. "That'll be something we should do after all of this calms down."

Stu nodded, "If you want I can take you to my dad's palace to see if he's there," he offered as I smiled

"We would appreciate that," Aili said for me as I turned to Dal

"I am sorry for the loss of your sister," I began, "if you may excuse us we need to see if there are any survivors of the attack."

"Go, the sooner we know who's left the better," Dal began. "I suggested you switch the suit for armor and replace those crowns."

I smiled, "Thanks Dal," I began, "I forgot that I had these on," I said snapping my fingers and feeling the weight lift off my head. My suit was replaced with a tank top and leggings as I felt the weight of armor appear on my body but I couldn't see it. "I keep forgetting the armor can be invisible," I muttered making Aili chuckle

"Let's go," Aili began, "the sooner we get to them the better."

I nodded as I took her in, her hair was up in a high ponytail like mine was, she wore a blue crop top with leggings. "I suggest that you keep training the demigods, I believe this is going to be quite the fight of our lives."

"That I will," Dal said as he stood, "I wish you luck if we don't cross paths again. I hope you find somebody left in the council," he added as Stu shifted his stance. "Now go, this one is getting impatient."

"It's an understandable impatience," I said. "Lead the way Stu," I said to the demigod who walked to the lake that I never knew existed in Ohio.

He then marched right into the water going knee-deep as I looked at Aili. "I'll help with that," she said before grabbing my hand as we followed the demigod. "Any idea where we're going," she asked as we dove into the water

"Don't know," I said as I went through the past King's memories. "It seems like none of the Kings in the past went into other domains. Guess we're making history," I said with a smirk

"Didn't know the god of lightning and thunder could breathe underwater," Stu said as we followed him

"I have an anchor," I said as I noticed that Aili and I were still dry and talking as if we were on land

"You do realize that we have already made history by naming this religion," Aili asked as she swam. "We found out that I have powers of all the gods and goddesses since I intend to fight."

After Aili answered Stu's unasked question he nodded, "You named the religion," he asked, "what's our name?"

"Raiz," Aili and I said in unison making Stu stop swimming for a minute

"You seriously used the name from Instagram as the name of our religion," he asked, making us chuckle. "I like it being used for this religion better than an Instagram handle for you two."

"It was Liz's idea after we find out we were pregnant," Aili blurted making Stu stop once more

"Please don't be telling that to the whole camp," I began. "Until now the only people who knew were our advisors, guards, mothers and the person staying in our house."

"I'm not a gossiping kind of person so you have my word," he said as he dived further down into the lake, "we're almost there."

Aili scrunched her nose putting her hand on her head, "Are you okay," I asked her, "Stu wait."

The demigod stopped, turning to us, "What the," he began then paled, "no I can't be."

"What's going on," I asked looking between the two

"The sea is speaking to me just as it does to Flinn and Stu," Aili began a little more as the demigod sank to the bottom of the lake. "The sea is calling him King of the ocean," she finished as my heart broke

I swam down to meet Stu at the floor, he was on his knees, tears mixing with the waters of the lake. "I'm sorry Stu," I said, "I didn't know this would happen if there's anything we can do-"

"You can help me kill those damned parents," Stu began, "they shouldn't even be alive right now. How are they still alive even after a normal mortal life."

I looked at Aili who shrugged, "Even we don't know that," I said, "but we'll end their lives for good."

"I should show you the other domains," he said as we swam up, "could you teleport us to Florida?"

"Why Florida," I asked as we surface in the middle of the lake

"That's where the entrance to the Underworld is," Stu said nonchalantly

I arched an eyebrow as Aili asked the question in my mind, "How do you know this?"

"Long story short I went on a quest there with Hanni and my best bud," he said. "Let's go before we find out the hard way that Waverley is dead."

I nodded as I offered my hand to him, "Are you still going to hold onto mine or are you teleporting on your own."

"I've never been to Florida," she said, "so I'm holding your hand."

"Orlando," I asked to which Stu nodded as I pictured Florida and put power into the image

Soon we found ourselves in the middle of an amusement park, "Why here," Aili asked as I bit my lip

"I pictured the town, I don't know why we teleported to Universal Studios," I said as I turned to Stu. "Please say the entrance is somewhere around here," I said as he chuckled

"Yeah, could you manifest some passes? We're going to have to go to the waterpark for this and I don't want to sneak in this time," he said with a grin as kids ran past us

"To be that young and innocent again," Aili muttered. I pictured the passes complete with the lanyards

"Thanks," Stu began once they appeared, "follow me," he said as we made our way to the water park

'I wish we came here under better circumstances,' Aili thought as one of the employees scanned my pass.

"You and me both," I said as I held her hand after regrouping with her and Stu

"Blend in," Stu asked looking at us as I noticed he was wearing swim trunks with a blue t-shirt

I nodded as I imagined my bikini from the pool party. I snapped my fingers feeling it appear on me as we followed the demigod through the park. "So, is this entrance a closed ride, or are we going to have to wait in line and get wet?"

"You could get wet already," Stu said with a laugh as Aili pushed me into a jet of water. This caused me to get wet since Aili had removed the blessing from me.

"Allison," I growled in a low voice so only she could hear, I was not up to being swarmed by hundreds of people

"You love me," she said with a smile, 'I won't have my blessing on me if Stu forces us to get on a ride so I'll get wet there.'

I smirked, 'But what about now,' I thought to her as I saw a jet start to bubble behind her. "That I do," I said before pushing her into a jet. It soon ended revealing her soaked from head to two in a red strapless bikini

'You are so lucky that I'm not having my power on here,' Aili thought in my head as I walked over to her glaring form. "Now I hate you," she said with a huff as I smiled and wrapped her in a hug

"You sure about that," I asked with a smirk as she returned the hug, "I think you love me more than you hate me."

She looked up at me and smiled, "You got that right Layzer," she said as I watched her eyes change to amber. "Change into your makeover look, they probably heard you call me Allison."

I nodded as I pictured my blonde hair and grey eyes, "Good idea."

"I thought I heard one of the names of the first soulmates," a voice said in the distance. Just as the voice finished another jet of water had soaked us

"I thought that was going to be later," Aili muttered as she clung to my body from the cold water

"I believe we have him to blame for that," I muttered as I referred to Stu, "let's get going before we're swarmed by fans."

Aili chuckled as we followed the jets of water that had started over to the son of Flinn. "Thanks for the cover Stu," Aili said once we made it to him

He smirked, "I will only be able to do it one other time," he said, "as for where the entrance is we do have to go on a water ride."

Aili smirked at she looked at me, "Looks like I get revenge," she said as my arm rested on her shoulders

"What," I began, "me pushing you was revenge, who says that you get revenge for it?"

"Yeah but when someone has immunity to water they don't exactly like getting wet," Stu said as we walked to a ride. "This is where the entrance is, I hope you summoned fast pass tickets."

"What kind of person do you think I am," I said with a smirk as I made the necessary changes to our passes

"Just to let you two know you will be riding in the front," Stu said with a smirk, "keep your mind void of all emotion though. I will be blending in as well so people don't question why I'm not getting wet."

Just then a jet of water spilled onto him as I saw his shirt disappear, "Gotta hand it to that jet to prove it."

His abs glistened from the spray of water as he shook his unruly hair. "Yep, even I didn't see that one coming," he said with a chuckle as I shook my head out of the trance noticing Aili doing the same. "It's fine, I get that all the time at least you two aren't gawking at me twenty-four-seven now."

I blushed as Aili spoke, "I'm guessing that's often?"

Just then a girl walked in between us, "Hey there handsome, you got a riding partner?"

Aili and I glanced at each other groaning in each other's heads at the pick-up line. "These two are my partners," he began just as someone squeezed between us, "along with her."

"Sorry I'm late dear," Hanni said, winking at Aili and me as she took her side by her soulmate. "I'll be sitting with him if you don't mind," she said, her eyes shooting glares at the girl that started looking at the two.

The girl scoffed, "Why are you holding onto him like a poor puppy sticking to their mother," she began. "For all you know he isn't even your soulmate," she finished to which I bit in a laugh but Aili was unsuccessful. "Something funny to you," the girl asked as her eyes darted to Aili taking in my wet soulmate

"As a matter of fact, yes something is funny," Aili began with a smirk as the high schooler stared her down. "We're friends of these two and they are soulmates," she said in a nonchalant manner

"Why would you talk to me like that," she asked with a sneer, "do you even know who I am?"

"Do you know who we are," I asked her arching an eyebrow

"No," she asked, stunned, "why would you be asking me that, how would I know who you are?"

"First off that would be something I'd be asking you after you asked her that. We're here just to have some fun with our friends here," I began with a smirk. "Second of all, you should really look at the news to know who we are in accordance with the Soulmate Project."

The woman looked at me and scoffed, "I won't mess with you if you've been on the news, my parents need me goodbye."

I chuckled a little as Aili outright laughed. "You two are good," Hanni said with a smirk as she glared at a man who was checking us out behind us

"We have our practice," I said with a smile. I then remembered the times that men had hit on me in high school and the one year of college

"Thank the fates for that," Stu said with a smile, "I thought you were on Bita," he said looking at Hanni

"And miss out on this or a chance to make sure you're okay," Hanni asked looking at him in fake pain, "I think not."

I chuckled as I noticed a man looking back at us, "Hey, keep your eyes on the line, it's moving forward."

The man's head snapped forward once he noticed my clouded eyes glaring daggers at him. "You always have had your practice with that," Aili said, squeezing my hand.

"When you go to one of the worst high schools in South Toledo you kind of have to learn," I muttered returning the squeeze

"I'll help you clear your mind during this," Aili said with a smirk as we watched the two lovebirds in front of us. "Why do we have to be the first King and Queen to visit other domains," Aili muttered as I glared at another man who was checking us out

"I don't know but if we stand here any longer we're going to be recognized," I muttered just as a man rushed up to us

"I am so sorry about what my daughter may have done to you and Aili," the man said. "Is there anything I can do to fix this Miss Layzer?"

The area muttered around us as the man said my last name. "Just teach your daughter to be less of a sexual magnet to people or force people to fall for her," I began. "Teach her that the one she will love will come into her life on their own and not when she's forcing it."

The man nodded, his eyes showing the relief that he didn't have to bribe me. "Well then there's that," Aili muttered as the man walked away

I shrugged, "We were going to be recognized one way or another," I said as people started taking pictures of us

Aili rested her head on my elbow. "Just act normal and nothing bad will happen," she said with a soft smile as she squeezed my hand and the line moved

"Aren't they supposed to be in college right now?"

"What are they doing here?"

"I heard that classes at their school were paused because of them."

"Yeah, I think it was something about a shooter attacking the school in search of them."

"It sucks hearing that even though they're trying to lead a normal life they're hunted like animals."

"Amen," I muttered as Aili squeezed my hand

"I hate that they're talking about us as if we're not here," she said as I rubbed my thumb over the back of her hand

By the time we reached the entrance of the ride, I could've sworn that I got a tan from a combination of the sun and the cameras.

"Can the four of us get a boat together," Stu asked the instructor

"Sorry sir but I can't, there are too many people in line," the instructor said

"What if our friends are the first soulmates in the world," Hanni asked as the man arched a bushy eyebrow

"Then let me see them," he muttered as Aili and I stepped forward

"Good evening sir," I began, "is there a way my soulmate, friends, and I can get a boat with just the four of us? Or would that be some sort of problem?"

The man paled as his eyes widened, "I sincerely apologize ma'am," he said almost stuttering as he opened the gate for us.

As we walked past him he started bowing to us making me blush a little, 'What did you do Allison?'

"Why do I think a flitch was flipped in him or something," Stu began as we got into the boat. "He started looking at you as if you were royalty."

I shrugged, "You're not wrong with that," I began then snorted as Aili answered

'I may have threatened him, telling him who we are. He's a demigod he pretty much shit his pants when he realized who he was talking to.'

"Allison," I muttered with a smile on my face as she grinned and the boat started moving

What did she do," Hanni asked as I sighed

"Being a fighting Queen, I inherited a part of every god and goddess powers that were in the council," Aili began. The boat turned a corner out of the sight of the gawking crowd as she continued. "I could tell that he was a demigod and told him who we were as well as threatened him."

Stu whistled as he straightened his back in the seat making it crack. "Nice going, you just scared an older demigod shitless," he said with a smirk before closing his eyes. "You two should close your eyes and clear your minds, we're almost there," he said as Aili grabbed my hand. I looked over at her to see her smiling face before I closed my eyes

"I always hate this," Hanni muttered as I felt her hand land on my shoulder

"It'll be over before you know it dear," Stu said just as I felt the boat dip and water crashing into my face. The sensation of falling kept going as I felt my hair blowing behind me in the wind. We kept falling for what felt like minutes as Aili gripped my hand in fear. Suddenly there was a splash and we stopped falling, "You can open your eyes now."

I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding as Aili cursed. "You couldn't tell the person who is afraid of heights that this consisted of falling?"

I looked around us and saw that we were in a cavern that came from my dream that revealed Aili's Queen State. "Keep your eyes open guys," I began as we floated into the darkness

"Why do you ask," Stu asked as he reclined into the boat, "we're in a godly domain."

"Two reasons," I began, "what's a domain without anyone to control it," I asked, ticking it off of my fingers. "This is also the same cavern where Aili's Queen State was revealed."

"What," the two soulmates across from us asked as we kept floating. making me sigh and explain how Aili's Queen State was revealed differently than mine. I ended up explaining the dream to them as well indicating things that jumped out from the dream. "So, you're saying that you've been in this domain before but in a dream," Hanni asked me and I nodded. "Are you also saying that Waverley may be dead before we even get to his palace?"

I looked into the demigod's eyes, "I'm not sure whether or not the god of the underworld is dead," I began. "But I am sure that this is the cavern that I saw in my dream," I answered as I felt a sword appear at my side. "If Stu wasn't with Aili and me when we were underwater I don't know what would've happened," I began again. I scanned what I could see of the area. "If my memories serve me correctly the Underworld is the place that houses all of the monsters and souls. Think," I paused. "What would happen if the person who kept the order of a prison suddenly died with no one to take their place?"

Silence drifted in the boat as we continued to drift in the lake that we landed in. "What kind of water is this, can you control it, Stu, to get us there faster," Aili asked to break the silence. I just noticed the tearstained eyes that Hanni had

Stu shook his head, "This river is like the Styx in Greek mythology," he began as I saw his clothes change once more. "I can't control it nor can I jump out and push the boat," he finished as he looked out into the darkness. "The best that we can do is fight off anything that tries to attack you two."

"You should reveal your true forms with the armor instead," Hanni suggested. "If monsters see that the King and Queen are here they may not attack as much and we could get there quicker."

I nodded as I looked at Aili who was pale, "Are you okay or are you still recovering from the entrance?"

"I'm fine," she began, "it's what's behind Stu that has me scared shitless."

I looked to see a cloaked figure who looked as if he was trying to be a part of the Death Eaters in Harry Potter. "Can I help you," I asked the figure making its head snapped up. I willed the looks that I got from the coronation and the crown into existence

"What is the King doing in the Underworld," the figure asked as I looked into the eye sockets of a skeleton

"An attack happened on Bita," I began as I walked toward the figure since Stu had scrambled from it in fear. "We're here to see if Waverley is alive and well," I said as the figure loomed ominously in front of me. "Could you take us to the King of the Underworld's palace?"

The figure stayed silent before bowing and drifting behind our boat. "I'm glad that worked," Stu said with a sigh of relief as Aili's hair turned red. "Who else would we have to check on if there are gods and goddesses that tend to live off their own domain?"

"Not my mother," Hanni said solemnly, "I saw Sam carrying her out with Shanda. I could barely get an idea of how much damage there was before I started crying and was sent to save your ass."

I sat down next to Aili as my lips thinned into a line, "I don't know," I began. "I wasn't really told who'd be able to live off their own domains. I wasn't even told about the thrones until now," right as I finished an idea came to mind. "Aili," I began looking at her, "do you feel any different or are you living off of your domain?"

"I lost a little power but other than that I'm fine," she said as I had the usual feeling of her pushing me off

"Aili," I said grabbing her hand, "it's going to be fine if you're not alright, please don't lie to me like that."

"Why are you saying that," Hanni began, "she just said that she was fine."

"I've known her for about a year and when she usually says that she's fine. When she pushes me off like that she isn't usually fine," I said glancing at her. "You know, girl code," I added with a smirk

Hanni nodded as she looked at Stu, "What about Flinn?"

I tuned out him telling Hanni about what we found out before we even got to his palace. I turned my attention to her, "It's going to be alright. If you don't have a lot of power please don't use it as much since your throne is destroyed. I don't know what you'd be drawing from if you use your powers if you need me just tell me."

Suddenly, Aili had turned to me and buried herself into my side, "I'm so tired," she muttered. "Everything's been so tiring ever since we saw the thrones destroyed. I don't know how I'm still awake but I don't know if I can stay awake for long."

"The thrones on Bita are destroyed," the figure asked behind us making me jump as it pushed the boat along the waters

"Yes," I began as I rubbed Aili's back. "What would happen if a throne of a god or goddess who doesn't live off their domain is destroyed?"

Some sort of sigh came from the skeletal figure as he continued to push the boat. "If the god or goddess is still living they will slowly start to fade feeling increasingly tired by the hour. There have been many deaths today but her life force is still strong even though it is fading quickly."

"How can we restore the power of her throne," I asked, "or do you not know this?"

"I know a lot of what happens with the gods since I am the advisor of the King of the Underworld," the figure began. "I apologize for the initial scare. None of the others had visited much less the King and Queen," another sigh came from the figure. This time sounding more human-like than the first. "The only way to restore the power of the throne is to rebuild it from the ashes. You have to use your main power or go to the main source of it."

"If I remember correctly the Queen's throne wasn't made by her though," Hanni began. "I was told when I helped rebuild Bita after the war that every throne needs to be rebuilt by whoever sits in it. Excluding the Queen, her throne is built solely by the King himself," she looked at me. "I don't know how you can rebuild her throne from the ashes but I think we should return to Bita so you can save her. I can survey the damage and how much rebuilding I'd need to do."

I nodded, froze then looked up at the advisor, "Could you save us a trip sir," I asked and the figure nodded, "Is Waverley alive?"

The figure seemingly floated in the water as the boat stopped in its path, "I am sorry to say this," he began. "But you are the last of the three strongest gods alive."
