The Birthmark(2)

After a while, Jefferson finally regained his composure. He then asked Kathleen what lesson she had been attending recently.

Kathleen told him she attended an interesting lesson about one-act plays.

The next day, Jefferson took her to watch a one-act play.

It took place at an underground drama club located near the embassy area. The club was located in the basement of a commercial center. It was a small theater with black tiered seats made of metal that could accommodate about 100 people at most.

The stage was right in the middle of the room. It was very small and probably only as large as a round table in a restaurant. The performer was a middle-aged man in his forties, who wore a white shirt and a wrinkled black tailcoat.

Holding a bass, he murmured to himself and occasionally plucked the strings. The strings of the bass let out a piercing whine as a result of his rough pulling. The play was mainly about a cellist's monologue.
