“I’ll come track you down if you don’t.” He walked backward toward the door, pointing at me, and he arched an eyebrow so I would know he was serious.
I was counting on that because I was certain I was going to need it.

Hayley stared at me, wide-eyed. All I could do was scowl back. I’d told her about Dylan, not in detail, but that we were going to try dating. And for the first time in probably her whole life, my sister was silent. She looked at me like I’d grown two heads.
“What?” I grumbled, my scowl deepening because what the hell was her problem.
“I’m just surprised. I thought you were too much of an idiot to get your head out of your ass and go for that man. He’s wanted you forever.” The evil grin she added with the last of her words was something only a sister could give her brother. I hated when she teased like that, which was why she did it.
“Shut up,” I groused.
