Chapter Two

Ryley wakes up to her alarm. She gets out of bed and runs to the bathroom. She throws up in the toilet. She sits on the floor for a good twenty minutes before her phone buzzes. She reads the text. "Hey Ryley. Are you coming to school today?" "No I'm not feeling well." "Alright I'll tell the school." "Thanks Alex. You're the best❤️." "Yeah yeah. Love you too ya nerd." Ryley chuckles and throws up again. Later while laying in bed Ryley gets a text from Root. "Hey are you in class?" "No I'm in bed. I'm not feeling well." "Oh no! I'm coming over." "Root no." "Why not?""It's day out." "So?" "So you'll burn. Unless you're okay as long as the sun is behind the clouds." "Yeah. Wait what?" "I know Root. You are like my friend Alex. She has a ring though." "Hm interesting. You know that I'm a vampire then?" "Yep. Just like Alex." "I'll be right over." Ryley sighs. "Fine. The back door is unlocked." Root leaves her mansion and drives to Ryley's. Once there she goes around the back of the house and enters the house. "Ryley?" "Upstairs." Root takes the stairs three at a time. Ryley smiles when she sees Root. Root walks into the room and sits on the bed. She rubs Ryley's back. "So what's wrong?" Ryley coughs. "I think I have the flu." "Aww poor baby. I'm gonna run you a bath." Root goes to get up but Ryley grabs her wrist and moves over. "Lay with me." Root lays down on the bed. "No funny business." Ryley chuckles and wraps Root's arm around her. "Why do you think I'd do that?" "I don't. I just wanted to make it clear." Root kissed Ryley's neck. Ryley leans in closer to Root's body and falls asleep. Root lays there holding Ryley and watches her sleep. A few hours later Ryley wakes up to an empty bed. "Root?" "Over here love." Ryley looks over to the corner where her bathroom is. Ryley smiles. "What are you doing over there?" Root points to the window. Ryley looks to the window and jumps up quickly and closes the curtains. Root sighs with relief. "Thank you." Root's skin starts to heal. "We need to get you the ring Alex has." Root nods. "I'll text her." "Okay. I'm gonna run a bath." Ryley grabs her phone and texts Alex. "Alex I need a favor." "Name it and I'll see what I can do." "You know that ring you're wearing?" "Yeah what about it?" "You think you can make another one?" "Yeah why?" "Another friend of mine needs one." "Alright. I'll see what I can do. Any specific type of ring?" "One sec I'll ask her." "Kk." Ryley goes to Root. "Hey Root?" "Yeah?" "What type of ring you want?" Root sticks her hand in the water. "Bath is ready. Anything with skull bones." "Okay." Ryley gets undressed when Root leaves and gets in the tub. She then texts Alex. "Anything with skull bones." "Alrighty. I'll bring it tomorrow." "Awesome thanks." "Not a problem." Ryley relaxes in the bath. "You can come in Root." "You sure?" Ryley chuckles. "Come in here." Root opens the door walks in and closes the door again. Root sits down beside the tub. "Cool if I smoke?" Ryley waves her hand. "Be my guest. I smoke in here sometimes." Root takes out her pack of smokes and lights one. She takes a long drag. Root offers it to Ryley. "My hands are wet." "Come here then." Ryley moves closer to Root and takes a long drag of her smoke. Once done Root kisses Ryley on the lips. The two share the smoke until it's done. Root goes to get up when Ryley stops her and kisses her hard. "What was that for?" Ryley shrugs. "No reason. Turn." Root turns and Ryley gets out of the tub and dries off. Once she is done drying off she wraps the towel around herself and walks past Root and into the bedroom. "I'm gonna use your bathroom cool?" Ryley nods. "Cool." Root closes the door. As Root goes pee Ryley gets dressed. When Root comes out of the bathroom Ryley is talking on the phone. When Ryley faces Root she smiles,walks over and kisses her softly. "I'm still here. So what are you going to do?" "I don't know yet Ry. Can I crash at yours for awhile?" "Sure of course of course. Come whenever you're ready." "Thanks sis. You're the best." "It's not a problem Ashton. See you in a bit maybe?" "For sure. Love you." "Love you too." The call ends. Ryley puts her phone down. "Sorry about that." "No problem. What's going on?" "My brother Ashton and his girlfriend broke up. So he's staying here for a bit." Root nods. "I see. Should I go or?" Ryley shakes her head rapidly. "No please stay. I want you to meet him." Root chuckles and wraps her arms around Ryley's waist and hugs her. Ryley wraps her arms around Root's neck and hugs back. "Hey Root?" Root pulls away from the hug. "Yes?" "Do you know anything about Chemistry?" Root chuckles. "I'm an expert in Chemistry Sociology Herbology and Mathematics. Why you ask?" "I need your help. Can you help me?" Root kisses Ryley deeply. "Of course." Ryley claps her hands. "Thank you." Root smiles. "You're welcome." A few minutes later there's a knock at the door. Root goes and answers it. "You must be Ashton." "That I am. You are?" Root offers her hand. "Root." Ashton shakes Root's hand. "Hello." "Here let me help you." Root grabs one of the suitcases from Ashton. "Oh thanks." "It's no problem." The two go up the stairs. Ryley points to the room down the hall. "That's your room." Ashton quickly hugs Ryley and follows Root into the bedroom. Later that night. Ryley is curled up in Root's arms while Ashton is laying on the other couch while watching the movie. Ashton falls asleep on the couch. Ryley and Root finish the movie and then go upstairs to bed. About an hour later Ashton wakes up,stands up,turns off the TV and goes upstairs. He stops when he hears Ryley giggling. "Stop it." "Make me." Ryley's full on laughing now. Ashton comes in. "What's going on?" Ryley smiles at her brother. "Nothing Ash. Root's just being annoying." Root starts tickling Ryley's side again. Ryley swats her hand away. "Quit it." Ashton chuckles. "Her most ticklish spot is under her legs." "Oh really?" Ryley starts squirming. "Really Ash?" Ashton shrugs. "I hate you." Ashton chuckles. "No you don't. You love me. Night night." "Night." Ashton goes to bed. "I swear to god Root if you don't stop I'll never have sex with you." Root hums. "Sure you won't." "I'm serious." Root stops tickling Ryley and cuddles her close. "Good night." Root kisses and licks Ryley's neck. Ryley moans. Root chuckles. "Night babe." Ryley falls asleep soon after. Root watches Ryley sleep soundly until about 2 am. Root then falls asleep as well.
