CHAPTER 36

SUSAN

"Hey! Are you good?" Bode's croaky voice startles Susan who is lost in thought as she stares blankly at her numerous unread messages to Henry "Hey! You are awake! Don't bother about me, I am fine... I should be the one doing that, how are you feeling?" Susan holds his palm in hers and caresses his palm. Bode grunts as he moves his body to sit up "As you can see, I'm not dead. Lol, when did you get here?".

" Few hours ago, I'm glad to see that. In as much as you are so annoying, I still need you very much alive" Susan nags about how she wasn't informed on time about his poisoning and how pissed she is at Linda for not staying by his side. Bode just watched Susan play dramatic over his illness and chuckles when he asked why she is so concerned and mad over it but she still denies being concerned about him neither does she have any care in the world for him. "Not that I care, but how did you get poisoned?" Susan rolls her eyes as she mocks him "For a guy who thinks he is the most loved everywhere he goes, here you are on your deathbed" Bode cuts her "heyyyy! Food poisoning doesn't necessarily mean I was poisoned! it could be from the eatery or the chef

who made it. That's for a girl who thinks she is an A student" he smirks his lips and Susan bursts into laughter "I walked into this room to see your lifeless body on the bed, I thought you were going to die from the poisoning. I said some prayers for you, I told God to keep you alive till my wedding so you will stop mocking me that I will never get a husband" Bode interjects Susan's confession "that's a good prayer, you just asked God to keep me till eternity bitch!" Susan screams "Jokes on you! I am getting married in two weeks!" Bode eyes and shook his nose at her, not believing what she just said, his eyes caught the disposable bag on the shelf "what do you have in that bag? Anything I can munch on?" Susan hands him the bag informing him it's his and Bode is taken aback "Did you go shopping for me? Wow! That's so sweet of you. I appreciate it, I think I would fall sick often to see this caring side of you" he grabs and opens the bag, tearing his favorite snack paper off and devouring it like someone who hasn't eaten in days "You are a lifesaver girl! My system was literally flushed! Nothing was left for the worms in my belly to eat, they almost tore me apart" Susan stares deeply at him and mutters again "I am serious, my wedding is in two weeks or less" Bode's mouth is left hanging open in shock "Sus, Stop! you don't even have a man" He notices the seriousness on Susan's face then pauses "You are not kidding?"

Susan says a soft no but he is still looking confused "Who swept you off your feet? When and where did all this happen? Have I been unconscious for ten years? And why are you

getting married in two weeks? Wait! Is this a joke or what?" Bode pours out so many questions at a

time, leaving Susan confused about which to go for first, she settles for the most important one "Henry got back today and he is the one I am getting married to". Henry lost his appetite immediately after Susan mentions Henry, then he looks at her ring finger and heaves a sigh of relief when he saw it was empty, he throws some popcorn at her

"Girl! you are nut! You almost got me believing

that pathetic prank" he laughs out loud while Susan flushes in embarrassment "it's not a prank! don't have a ring on because he didn't propose, at least not yet. But the family had a meeting today and they agreed to the marriage" Bode stares at Susan in total disbelief "The family chose your wedding? Susan! If this is not a prank, this is meant to be your wedding! The biggest event of your life! What you have always looked forward to and you will allow some old hags to decide for you?"

Susan couldn't meet his stare, she was expecting

this all along. He says the words as they are on his mind, with no filter or anything. He just lashes at her the way he likes, she objects calmly to his

statement even though she knows that's what she needs to hear "They are not deciding for me, I made the decision myself. I like Henry, and he is ready to settle down, I am also ready. What's the big deal in two adults understanding what they want and going for it?" Bode argues with her unwilling to succumb "what you want? Susan, you don't even know what you want! You let people decide for you! You go to the angle you are pushed to go. You are not even ready for marriage! You don't know what you want in a marriage! That guy is not who you want to marry! You just want to experience that concept of marriage and marry anyone readily available because they keep ringing it in your ears".

"Stop!!!" Susan couldn't take it anymore, she wouldn't sit and listen to him insult her like she doesn't know her left from her right "I won't sit here and listen to this bullshit! Not from you! not from anybody! You don't even know yourself to think you know me well enough to tell me I don't know what I want. At least I am not confused about the gender I want to settle with! Go and fix your girly self before you fix others" Susan

grabs her bag in anger and storms out of the

hospital room.

"What!!! Come back here! don't run off like a coward after that statement" He calls out after her loudly so she would hear on her way out as she didn't shut the door "You think I am gay? Wtf!! Bring your bloody self and see if I won't knock you up in a second! Bitccchhh!". Bode is still shocked and angry over Susan's statement, it was least expected. He ponders again if he was just being referred to as gay, he is so irritated "Did she just fucking call me gay? Ooh! Wow! she thinks I'm gay??? What in the actual hell!!"
