Will Varundev endure his test as an Aryan?
Arya camp -----
Veer Kayasth was in the middle of the ceremony hall. His dead body was tied to a log of woods. It's the death ceremony of Veer Kayasth. Agnimitra chanted some prayers and then said,"Veer Kayasth! We all bow to your valor and dedication. If now we are here, so close to our Aryavarta, it's all because of you". As they were about to start the burning ceremony, Veer Abhrook came near the leader and whispered in his ear,"The sword of Kayasth is missing ".
Purohit maintained his calm and said," The death ceremony of a Veer Arya can never be done without his sword". Veer Abhrook yelled,"Where is his sword? The sword has always came out having someone's blood in it. Bring the sword here". Varundev came forward and said,"That sword is with me". Abhrook angrily said,"The death ceremony of a Veer Arya without his sword is equal to his insult. Don't you know this"? Varundev said, "But it was his last wish to keep the sword with me". Abhrook again yelled," Be in your limits, Varundev ".
" Apology Arya", said Sivaan coming forward to deliver Kayasth message. He continued, "Kayasth have sent him as his successor and have ordered me to deliver the message". Abhrook became more angrier and said,"Are you drunk or what? Kayasth can never make such a mistake. You are doing this ----". "Neither it is the proper place nor usage time", interjected Purohit. He then continued,"The special prayer done for the dead members should be started now".
As soon as his sentence ended two peoples on the side of the stages blew on the Saankh. Purohit then said,"You will not be consumed by the fire. You will always live in Aryavarta". The Arya chieftain put fire on their arrow and then send it to the log of wood, which burnt eventually burning Kayasth.
Meeting hall ----
All the chieftains and leader are sitting to discuss the matter that should or shouldn't Varundev be a chieftain. Abhrook said," To be selected as a Arya chieftain, a person should prove his worth. As you all know, none of us know what is the level and worth of Varundev". Another chieftain added,"I agree with you Abhrook. I don't accept the appointment of Varundev ". Another chieftain added,"Absolutely right. If we will start a tradition of appointment as per the last wish, this will be called to be the insult to our ancestor's thoughts". Abhrook again stated, "As per the rules of the Arya, to be the member of the assembly we should show our ability. We all are here today, because we have given the proof of our abilities". Purohit ordered to call Varundev.
As Varundev arrived, Abhrook scanned him from head to toe and said," The person who is having no wounds, no marks in his body, how can be called as an Arya". Everyone laughed in this comment. He continued, "Remember! We are not here to choose a handsome Arya. We are here to choose a warrior who can take the place of Veer Kayasth". Purohit sighed and said," All members of the assembly are unanimous but we also have to respect the last wish of Kayasth. So, what is the decision of the assembly ". Abhrook said," Prove. Prove of eligibility " Purohit said, "Then you only think of a test by which no one will ever doubt the eligibility or ineligibility of Varundev". Abhrook said," If I will doubt his eligibility, then another Arya will be chosen instead of him". Purohit said, "Those who are interested to get the post of Kayasth, can take part in this test. We will choose the most eligible Arya".
The next morning-----
Veer Abhrook stood in the front and started to explain the rules of the test. He said," It is an three stage test. The Arya who will complete all the three stages will be called as an chieftain. First stage, problems can come from any direction but the Arya who will be unstoppable and will complete the phase will be declared as the winner in the stage. Second stage, a bit more difficult. The road here has been topped with oil and fire will be ignited in the ball hanging at the top. You don't have much time to cover this path. The time taken by the fire ball to come down is the time given to you to cross the path. If you will be late by a moment too your body will be consumed by the fire".
He turned around to look at Varundev who look very confident. He continued, "Third stage, the most difficult one. A chieftain does the leadership of his team. Good leadership can only be done by one, who can come up with new ideas from time to time to lead a new path, even if his death is waiting in the path". He then turned towards Purohit and said,"I would request Purohit Agnimitra to give the permission to start the test". Purohit stood up and said,"I request the God of Thunder and the God of Fire to help us choose the Arya who is superior to all other in education, intelligence, strength and valor, as the chieftain in place of Kayasth".
As soon as the Saankh was sounded, the Aryans forwarded for the test. In a first test they have to complete a path where stones are hanging in a narrow path. Most of them failed in this part and been disqualified. As per Varundev, he didn't rush. He maintained his calm and attentively noticed every stone. He crossed stones one after another. He was the first Arya to reach the second phase. As he started to walk in the path, the fireball was released. As the floor is made of oil, he slid in it and kicked the ball backward. Appreciation was written all over the face of Agnimitra. Abhrook was dissatisfied with his good performance but was sure that he can never complete the last stage.
In the last stage, a hut made of wood was placed with enough gap in it's wall for swords and daggers to pass which are randomly pushed in and pulled out. Abhrook was sure that Varundev will be killed inside it but Varundev was the only one to came out. Everyone cheered for him. His father, Sivaan and Purohit were the happiest person. Though Abhrook have never liked Varundev, he still sincerely smiled at him and said,"Now that you have wounds on your body like the other assembly members, you can be a chieftain". He then signaled two servants to come and pour water two clear the blood in Varundev's body.
As the blood washed up, everyone was shock with what they saw. His body has no wounds at all. Abhrook just said,"How"? Varundev replied, "As per your word, a chieftain should be able to come up with new ways to cross the path of death. That is what I have done". Purohit was impressed with Varundev's attitude and intelligence and said," Wounds on the body of an Arya is the prove of his worth but the Arya who can compete with any danger without getting wounded is the greatest of all Arya. Varundev as you have completed the challenge, you can ask anything of your wish to Abhrook ".
Varundev said," If you have given an easy challenge, I could never ever wished to get anything from you but everyone here know that how difficult was the test and I am satisfied that I was able to protect the values and expectations of Veer Kayasth. So, I want that the silver chain, which a chieftain wears, should be given to me by you ". Giving him a impressed smile, Abhrook does as his wish.
Here, the bitter relationship of Abhrook and Varundev came to an end and a new relationship filled with friendship value and sweetness.
