James D. Edmond

His eyes were beautiful. It was green like the color of green forest. It was a soft medium green that contains a few flecks of brown in his iris. It appeared luminous.

"Hey," he greeted me with a smile.

"Hello, what are you doing there?" I asked him curiously.

"Waiting for someone," he said.

"This early in the morning? It's only seven." I thought in my head.

"Hehe, I was waiting for you." Before I could ask, he explained with a wide grin on his face.

"What? Do I know you?" I asked, puzzled. I never saw this person before, who could it be? Why would he wait for me?

"I saw you walked around here every day for the past weeks from that house," he said while pointed his fingers to a two stories house across the street.

"Uh.. so, what do you want?"

"Nothing. I am just interested in you. It's still early and it was so cold yet you always walked around here alone. Sometimes you even spaced out for a few minutes before you walked again," he said while looking at me with interest. For a moment, I didn't know what to say.

"What? Did you spy on me? And now you are flirting with me?" I asked him, uncertain. He looked at me then suddenly burst into a loud cackle of laughter. His chest shaking and his face muscles grew tight. The sound of laughter reverberating in the quiet park. I bet he won't stop laughing for a while. I folded my arms and wait. My face was already as black as a coal.

"Are you done yet?" I asked him with a straight face when his laughter came to a stop.

"Yeah yeah, sorry," he said. There was a bead of tears still hanging on his eyes.

"So?"

"Don't be mad, sorry for laughing too much. I was just curious, nothing more. Or do you prefer me to flirt with you?" he asked with a mischievous smile on his face.

"What is it to you if I walked around or not? It's none of your business. Get lost," I growled at him then walked away.

"Hey hey sorry alright? I was wrong, I just want to be friends with you." He chased me then walked beside me. I ignored him and kept walking.

"What is your name? My name is James, James D. Edmond." He introduced himself before he kept talking by himself while I just ignored him. He talked about a bunch of nonsense and some absurd story, sometimes it was so funny I almost laugh and then it got harder to keep my poker face.

"Alright, I lose. James, stop with your story," I said with the corner of my mouth curled up.

"Haha, no one could last this long, you are the first!" James said with a laugh.

"I am Kyle. Kyle Sandywood. Sorry for ignoring you, but it was your fault for being annoying," I smiled at him.

"Hehe, no problem, Kyle. Sorry for being annoying. So, are we friends now?" James asked me with a stupid smile. I nodded my head.

James really was a strange fella. He was lively and funny. His face could only be described as slightly above average, but his green eyes were beautiful. Every time he smiled, a deep dimple in his cheeks would be visible. He had an average stature, just a bit taller than me. He gave off a cheerful aura, like your neighborhood friends.

We chatted a lot about random things. He told me a lot of funny stories. He said he loved to see people laugh that was also why at one time, he dreamed to be a comedian. But his parents were against it, so he is a medical student now. The reason he chose this major was also steamed from his desire to make people happy. I felt like I admired him more now.

"If you are sick, come to me when I get my license, I'll give you a discount," he joked.

"But first, let's stay friend until then," I responded with a small laugh.

"Well, of course we will! Give me your phone number, so we can contact each other easily." James took out his phone and gave it to me. I added my contact number then gave it back to him. We walked around until we got in front of my aunt house.

"So, you stayed here, Kyle?"

"Yes, it is my aunt house. Come play sometimes, my aunt cookies are the best," I said with a wide smile on my face.

"Definitely. Alright I will go first, see you next time."

"See you," I said while waving my hand. James laughed then waved his hand back before he walked away.

I walked into the house, then greeted by my aunt. She looked at me with a wide grin. "Who is that man? Is that George?" I was perplexed at her question.

"What? No. It's James. He lived at the house across the park. We just get to know each other and he somehow accompanied me until here," I explained briefly to aunt.

"Oho, you are quite the popular one, aren't you, Kyle?" Aunt teased me. I rolled my eyes at her remark, "We are only friends and he's not interested in me in that way."

"Okay okay, aunt was only joking around. Let's eat breakfast now, " aunt smiled then we walked to the dining room to eat breakfast.

After we ate, I went to my room then took a shower. When I checked my phone, there was one message from James. The content only informed me that this is his phone number and told me to save it. I smiled a little, replied with an okay then checked my phone log again, but there was only that one message from James. I was a bit disappointed, but the feeling was quickly gone. I already got used to it.

I sat down on the reclining chair on my room and started reading a book. This had been my favorite activity for the past few days.

Sorry it's not George :P

Will James be George's rival? Hehe..
