Kim Chae-Yeon's trick

As soon as Kim Chae-Yeon ended her conversation with Vice-president Jang, she quickly made a call to confirm her reservation at the expensive hotel she had booked earlier that day.

Having confirmed the reservation was in order plus the food and drinks to be served, she went on to phone her restless son who was currently finding it difficult to breathe.

How could his nerves be calm when there was a big decision for him to make?

For Kim Ji-hun, this was probably one of the most difficult decisions he ever had to make since becoming the President of Dream Axis.

Sitting restlessly in front of his work desk with his fist under his jaw, his gaze remained fixed on the space before him.

Up until his mother's call came into his phone, he was lost in thought.

Finally seeing something to distract him for a bit, he was grateful as he answered the call.

"Son, are you still at work?" Kim Chae-Yeon inquired as soon as the call connected.

Happiness was clear in her tone that it was difficult for it to go unnoticed by even the distracted Kim Ji-hun.

'Why does she sound so happy? Is she trying to bribe me to come home?'

Thinking that his mother was only smiling because she had something she wanted to request from him, Kim Ji-hun replied.

"Yes, I still have a lot of work to finish."

Hearing that, Kim Chae-Yeon pouted her lips while staring at the TV screen in her line of sight.

There was a foreign movie playing but as she was on a call, she had to mute it and in front of her legs, was a small stool that had a fancy bowl of some citrus fruit.

Before any of this conversation started, she had been enjoying a foreign movie over a bowl of fruits.

"My poor son. I feel very bad every time you have to work so late as I can not even lend a helping hand to you."

"I don't need you to worry about work with me. I am fine with you minding your own business."

Although Kim Ji-hun's response might come out as him being rude but he was not.

His mother had her own business which she was running and he would prefer she would mind it and stop worrying about matters at Dream Axis.

Also, he would feel better if she did not disturb him.

That was the way he would find things easy.

For him, that could be counted as her helping him out.

Being his mother for over thirty plus years, there was no way Kim Ji-hun would misinterpret his words as she understood them clearly.

Smiling to herself, she replied.

"There is no way I would stop worrying about you. I am your mother."

A long heavy sigh escaped from Kim Ji-hun's parted lips as he rubbed his forehead with his palm.

"Fine, do what you want but don't disturb me."

He couldn't care less now knowing she insisted on worrying about him.

He hoped she would only stop having thoughts about it, and not move forward to do anything about it.

That way, they wouldn't have issues.

Seeing him concede in defeat so soon unlike other times he usually argues it out with her, Kim Chae-Yeon understood that he was not in the mood.

'He must be tired.'

Somehow happy for a day like this, Kim Chae-Yeon smiled triumphantly and continued, "On that note, I would like to have dinner with you tomorrow."

Instantly, black lines appeared on Kim Ji-hun's forehead as he instantly moved his palm away from his face.

Thinking that this was a new strategy by his mother to get him to come back home, he outrightly rejected her.

"I'm busy."

Knowing his thoughts, Kim Chae-Yeon had mixed feelings.

She couldn't help chuckling out loud but inwardly, she felt a little sad that he was avoiding returning home.

Was she the reason?

Waving the thoughts away as it was of no importance at the moment, she answered him knowing that he thought he was asking her to come home and have dinner with her.

"I know you are busy, but you can spare me 2 hours of your time tomorrow evening as I have already made a reservation in a hotel. I have already asked the Chefs to prepare all the exquisite dishes for you."

Learning that he had thought too far of his mother, Kim Ji-hun instantly calmed down but he didn't agree to her plan on the go.

He first had to make some adjustments to the time.

"I can't stay for more than an hour."

What was it that he was going to be talking to her with for 2 hours?

Even if he was given 24 hours to think about it, he wouldn't be able to think of any. And as for making things up, he wouldn't be able to do that either.

After dragging with him for a few minutes, Kim Chae-Yeon failed to convince him to extend the time he would be spending with her, but he was too stubborn and remained insistent.

In the end, she gave up.

"Fine, I will listen to you since you will still have some work to do after dinner. I will send you the time and address."

Advising him to eat well and take care of his health, she ended the conversation.

'Son, you don't know what's coming for you. You think you are smart?'

"Hahaha…" Laughing to herself as she placed her phone beside her on the sofa, Kim Chae-Yeon mumbled to herself.

"Mum will show you that she can still be ahead of you."

In a rare case like this, Kim Chae-Yeon could be smart.

She had purposely omitted the main point of the dinner she wanted to have with him because she knew that she would blatantly refuse her if she ever mentioned that Jang Deok-Hwa and his daughter would be joining them.

Knowing her son very well after raising and studying him for several years through so many experiences, she knew it was not everything he needed to know when she was making arrangements of this sort.
