23 Alex

As soon as Alexander entered the room, his eyes centered on Evelyn.

She was lost in her thoughts, staring at a paper in her hand, looking forlorn in the vast room. Her sights were blurred, without any focus.

Hearing some noises, Evelyn's eyes wavered for a brief second until she glanced up and met him.

Gazing at her eyes, Alexander remembered noticing her in the elevator for a brief second further Kyle's face just seconds ago irritated him more.

What struck Alexander more was that Kyle and Evelyn were together in a room.

'What did they talk about?'

'Why was Evelyn so lost in her thoughts?'

'Was she thinking about Kyle?'

Alexander's heart was filled with hidden anxiety. All he desired to do was to hasten towards her and take her in his arms.

And he did just that. When the only additional person apart from them left the room. Without much of a thought, Alexander rushed towards Evelyn.

His mind was fretting, and his eyes overflowed only by her face. Her lips were moving, perhaps she was saying something. But Alexander just wanted her presence to comfort his unsure emotions that were submerging his heart.

A fresh and soft vanilla fragrance girdled his senses, and his hand engulfed Evelyn into a hug. Alexander buried his head in the cuff of her shoulder, breathing in her enclosing air to calm himself.

Evelyn was startled by this unexpected attack. She disliked when people invaded her space, but for some reason, she did not hate it.

Evelyn wanted to push Alexander, but she also wanted to stay like this a little bit longer. Her own feelings startled her.

After a while, Evelyn waggled her head and made up her mind to do the right thing.

"Mr. Alexander," Evelyn's soft speech hit Alexander as a fresh breath of air cutting through the darkness. He just wanted to hold on to her a little bit longer.

It might be his selfish conscience, but Alexander felt if he let Evelyn go now, then they will be back to square one. And he did not want that. Alexander wanted to move ahead, not backward from here.

Alexander was not sure of his own emotions. He just wanted to stay near Evelyn. Only she could make him do crazy things for her, like hugging her out of impulse, which he would not have done normally.

Evelyn contemplated that maybe Alexander did not catch her voice, so she kept on calling him, but it seems like he was still not calm enough to respond.

Evelyn sighed in her heart. She just wished Alexander could not hear her unsteady heartbeat.

"Alex..," Evelyn decided to use something else to succeed.

Evelyn's words were like hot honey dropping on Alexander's heart, coating it in her sweetness.

Hearing his nickname from Evelyn's mouth, Alexander's hands tightened around her waist, drawing her more closer towards him.

Evelyn hugged him back as she tried to pursue him, "Let's talk, Okay,"

After a few seconds, Alexander relaxed his hold on her and composed himself. He was not ashamed at all. Alexander desired to possess Evelyn, however, he also knew that this was not the right time.

'Patience' Alexander tried to pursue himself.

'She can only be mine.'

A dangerous light flashed in his eyes as his fingers formed a fist.

--------------

As soon as Clara was done with her call, she dodged around to make her way back to work.

Entering the building, Clara saw her supervisor chatting to a man.

He was tall with a powerful build. He was handsome with a certain charm.

His clothes fitted him perfectly. He wasn't that old but still contained a mature air encircling him, causing everyone around him wary in their actions.

Clara has seen this type of person a lot. One can say she was surrounded by them all her life, be it her family or friends. But what caught Clara's attention was not his expensive clothes or what brand watch he was wearing but his face.

Clara froze in her steps. She was sure that this man was the same as she met outside the cafe a few days ago.

Clara bit her tongue as she tried to walk past them in a hustle to avoid him. But luck was not by her side as her supervisor caught her.

"Clara"

"Yes," she turned in a rush, getting her hair messy due to the impulse. A few of her hairs were stuck on her face.

"Please take Mr. Hart to the meeting room 1."

Clara's supervisor was an attractive woman. She never liked Clara to begin with as she preferred hardworking people. She always felt that Clara joined as an intern through the backdoor. Even though it was quite common and not unheard of, it still touched the lady's nerve.

She wanted Clara to quit soon, but knowing that only a month was remaining for her internship, she tried to tolerate her. Clara was clumsy and made a lot of mistakes, nevertheless now Clara was working hard.

"Yes," Clara glanced at Mr. Hart, "This way Sir," as she tried to retrieve if she had ever befallen across anyone of this name.

As soon as they entered the elevator, Mr. Hart looked at Clara, who was trying to make her demeanor as invisible as possible.

Noticing Clara grappling to keep up her emotions, a small smile settled on his face.

Clara was a fearless girl from the start, yet, when she attempts to hide something deliberately, she gets all anxious and nervous. She has been trying very hard to overcome this, and so far, she has also succeeded. It's just that today, she is super sensitive being in a small space with the very person she wanted to avoid a few seconds ago.

Moving out of the elevator, Clara took some deep puffs and stepped towards the meeting room.

"This way, Mr. Hart."

Meeting room 1 was positioned on the top floor, moreover, only a few prime clients were attended here.

"Call me Oliver," His deep voice travelled through the hallway.

Clara nodded her head in agreement. She was happy and dancing inside her mind that this person does not recognize her. It is awkward to look in the eye of the person on whom you poured a whole cup of hot coffee. Even though it was by mistake.

Clara could afford to compensate for the damaged clothes, but right now, in front of others, she is a normal girl working hard to make her living. It would be questionable if she just took out thousands of bills to repay.

Clara opened the door to let the guest in. There was a team of Executives already waiting inside.

Oliver Hart reentered the room, but he paused in his steps to look at Clara with a smirk. His eyes danced with playfulness.

"Thank you for escorting me here," Oliver's words freed Clara's heeds. She even believed that Oliver Hart was a gentleman until his next words hit her hard.

"And not pouring anything on me along the way." His speech was a whisper which can only be heard by both of them.

Clara's breaths hitched.
