9.Walking through the fire.
The class of magic and illusion was one of the most popular subject among the students.There were two teachers who were experts in the field.One of them was able to walk through a large fire.
He performs in huge crowds and none couldnt find his secret or science behind it.People who gather couldnt reach the fire more than few meters away from it.It was so hot and burning .The fuelling was done by a special team under the guidance of the magician.
His clan was from far south where bushfires were common.There was a rumour that he could produce fire from his thumb.His art was not given to every student.The most dedicated student of the batch gets a scholarship to learn his fire art.Not everyone in the world gets to know such fine art.
That year it was Ravan who got the scholarship.With his dedication to science he deserved it.He was having hours of sessions of magic.A teacher would not get a student always in that capacity .He mastered every bit of knowledge he got.
One fine night the open arcade of magic was filled wth students and guests who were interested in magic.There were lanterns with red illuminations.Thousands of oil lamps were lit.Small stalls of street food were frying their best food.Smell of roasted meat was irresistible .Young ladies from sorrounding villages were clothed with multicolored dresses.Their jewellery were shining.Their anklets were giggling like they invite lovers to hug them.
Boys were busy with attracting ladies and making fun out of teasing.In some dark corners they were having their first experience of lovemaking.Ram was followed by few ladies.They were in love at first sight of this handsome man.One lady approached him saying she can show him the heaven.Somehow he was not interested in heaven.His eyes were insearch of Janaki.She was no where to be seen.
Mando not a girl anymore was in her new world.She couldnt understand herself.
Janaki was behind the canopies of magicians.Her girlish heart was looking for Ravan.She wanted to see him in big night.While she was walking she happened to observe the preparations of fire.They filled the fire bed with various materials.It was not just firewood.It had sand and big jars of liquids.Their smell was hurting the nostrils .
They were going to start the magic show.Many experts came up with cutting people,made them didisapear, lines of flowers from their mouths.People were cheering happily.
The last event was Ravans walk through the huge fire.Most of them were breathless."Here he comes"Somebody exclaimed .Fire was shooting sky high.It can easily roast ten pigs at one time.
He was walking through the fire.He was unharmed.It took him few minutes to cross the whole length of the fire span.When he raised his hand spurts of water splashed to the sky and after a few seconds the fire went dead.He did it.
Janaki was staring at him and she couldnt judge her proximity to the fire.Before the fire went down her robe caught fire.People were screaming in fear.Ram jumped on her and rolled her on the floor.He was right on time to save her.It was a miracle.Her half of the clothe was burnt, but she was unharmed.There was not a single burn mark on her.
Was it the special fire which cant burn human skin or was it her who was different .Nobody knew the answer.
There were different stories around Janakis birth.She was found on a paddy field as a baby and the king took her in as her own daughter.No one knows her biological parents.This added to her mystery.Her gorgeous beauty and resistance to fire made her a goddess .
Janaki was indebtful towards Ram.He selflessly protected her from the fire.Now she has two people who saved her.One is behind the screen and one is upon the stage.
