Helpful friend

"Are you sure it's okay? I mean, I'm grateful because you let me share your book, but our classmates are staring at us," Linc whispered to the girl.

"Yeah, it's fine. By the way, my name is Lily," Lily whispered back.

"Okay class, since everyone has a book now, let's start our class," the teacher said.

One hour later...

"Thank you very much, Lily, because of you, I didn't miss the class lesson on our first day," Linc said.

"Oh, it's nothing. I just wanted to help you," Lily said.

"I didn't have a proper introduction earlier... My name is Lincoln, nice to meet you, Lily," Linc said.

"Oh, nice to meet you, Linc. Ever since the virus started, I haven't talked to people the same age as I am," Lily said.

"So am I, Lily," Linc said.

"Hey, Linc, can you be my friend?" Lily said.

"Friend? Sure, I am happy to be your friend," Linc said.

Lily was happy that she had a new friend. Hours passed, and it's almost lunchtime. Another teacher came into the class.

"Good morning, class," the teacher said.

"Good morning, Ma'am," the class replied.

"My name is Ma'am Nora. Nice to meet you, everyone," Ma'am Nora said.

"Nice to meet you too, Ma'am Nora," the class replied.

"My subject is English. I hope that everyone can help each other on my time. I wish that the lessons you will learn will be meaningful to all of you in the future," Ma'am Nora said.

"Yes, Ma'am Nora," the class replied.

"Good, since everyone listened, group yourselves into three," Ma'am Nora said.

Lily pushed her chair and sat next to Linc.

"Now we're two. We need one more," Lily said.

"Thank you, Lily, for teaming up with me, but our classmates are avoiding us," Linc said.

"You're right, but that doesn't mean we can't find one more classmate for our group, Linc," Lily said.

"Yeah, that's right, Lily. We should wait a little longer and see if there's still a student who doesn't have a group yet," Linc said.

Five minutes passed, and it looked like the students had settled down.

"Lily and Linc, where's your other friend?" Ma'am Nora said.

"We can't find another friend to join our group, Ma'am," Lily said.

"Then let him join your group. He may be shy, but he can be your friend," Ma'am Nora said.
