17 Misunderstanding

"WHAT?!!!"

Betty's voice echoed in the washroom upon hearing Ayana's words. She was way too much shocked than Ayana could've anticipated.

"Did this happen before or after your breakup? Do you still have a crush on him? Did he made the first move? Are you in-"

Ayana quickly placed a finger on her lips and asked Betty to calm down. She sighed as she said.

"You promised you wouldn't freak out!"

"How can I not on this unexpected good news?!"

A small tingle emerged in her stomach, as she heard Betty say that. She sighed from embarrassment and gently put down her fingers off her.

"You didn't heard me properly. I remember adding the word 'probably' in the end."

"Heh? But I didn't heard it all! You should've emphasized on the later part. Anyways, what do you mean by it? Are you not sure whether you kissed him or not?"

"Yes, I feel like I did it in the dream earlier. But I am not so sure anymore."

"Hmm. Fill me with info."

"Do you remember that time when we go to that office party?"

"Oh yes! What happened after I left you in the bar? Did you reached home safely?"

"Yes. To be honest, I was quite fortunate that night since I literally overdosed myself, to the point I blackened out."

"Oh god, what happened then?"

"I remembered vaguely, but this man helped me reaching home safely and he even left without anything in return."

After hearing Ayana said that, tons of questions and scoldings showered upon her. 'It was obviously dangerous but isn't Betty being a little too concerned? She's behaving like a typical mom' Ayana opined.

After a god-knows-how-long time Betty finally calmed down and said.

"Hmm, I think you did indeed kissed each other since you were so drunk and all. Your memories must be a proof of it, aren't they?"

"Maybe. But what if all of this was just a dream?"

"What do you mean?"

It appeared Ayana was finished talking but upon seeing the puzzled look still persisting on Betty's face, she decided to let out the hardest part as well.

Ayana explained how wierd and aggressive she was acting that day, it almost felt like a different person to her. Not only did she had a dream of kissing a stranger at terrace, she also remembered almost getting into a car accident.

After another long argument, they finally concluded to leave this place after all. Betty too no longer wished as she was already too tired by now. They both came out completely exhausted, but to their surprise a new group was sitting on their seat. Upon more focusing they realised it was the same man Ayana was talking about!

Betty was shocked when Ayana pointed at the man because even she knew that person from before!

Betty urged Ayana to go back into the bathroom and discuss things over again. Sigh....

"Are you sure he's the same man you were talking about?!" She whispered.

"Yes, but why are you so startled? I didn't even told you how he looks. Do you know him by any chance?" It was now Ayana who was puzzled.

"But didn't you told me, he's as harmless as a rabbit? From which angle does he looks like a rabbit to you?"

"What are you talking about? Sure he might look a bit extra muscular in formal shirt, but I'm pretty sure it's probably because of the sizing defect."

Betty once again peeked from the door, and noticed there was actually another man who looked quite frail from outer appearance. She left a sigh of relief and turned around with a cautious expression.

"Phew! I thought you were talking about that another man. If it's him, then it's okay, probably."

"You looked quite scared for a moment. Do you know that other man as well."

"Wait! You don't know who he is?! Even though you work in this company you don't know the face of CEO of this company?!"

"What?! Really? I thought he was an assistant or something?"

"Well, whatever it is. We can't keep them waiting as it seems they came here to see us only."

Although it appeared they were on the same page, it was not. Infact, Betty had completely misunderstood the person Ayana was addressing to, and was in a relief within her delusions.

But what will she do when she discovers the shocking truth? Would she still support her friend, who's also delusional about Eric's position? Only god of fate could tell what was going to happen next.

They fixed their getup nervously for the last time, and complained each other's outfit for either being too casual or flashy for this unexpected formal meeting.

"Good evening sir, I am Ayana Shekar from Marketing team."

"And I am Betty Perez, from Sales department. It's an honour to meet you sir."

They both reached out their handshake, but due to their misunderstanding, they ended greeting different person spontaneously.

Ayana and Betty shared a confused look as they were supposed to handshake with the boss first, but instead each of them greeted to the assistant first, according to them.

'Did she thought of doing it alternatively to save time?' they both thought simultaneously.

However, aside from them, there were three more people who were quite at unease with the situation.
