Liu Wei stumbled into her apartment, her head spinning from too many drinks at the hotpot dinner. She giggled to herself as she kicked off her shoes, her mind hazy but oddly light. Somehow, despite the dizziness, she managed to find her way to her bedroom. She collapsed onto the bed, immediately sinking into a deep, untroubled sleep.
The next morning, sunlight streamed through the curtains, and Liu Wei groaned, rubbing her temples as she slowly woke up. Her head throbbed, and her mouth felt dry. She sat up, trying to piece together the fragments of the previous night.
As she splashed cold water on her face, bits of memory started to come back. She remembered leaving the restaurant, waving goodbye to Lin Mei, and then… Zhang Yan. Her eyes widened as the images flashed vividly in her mind.
She saw herself outside her apartment, spotting Zhang Yan leaning casually against the wall. In her drunken state, she had pointed an accusing finger at him and shouted, "Stalker! I hate you!"
Zhang Yan's expression had been amused, his eyes glinting with mischief. And then, before she could react, he had stepped forward, cupped her face gently, and kissed her on the lips. The memory of the kiss sent a jolt through her, her cheeks flushing hotly even now. She could still feel the lingering sensation of his lips on hers, unexpected and bold.
After the kiss, she recalled Zhang Yan leaning in close, whispering something in her ear, his breath warm against her skin. She strained to remember his words, but they remained maddeningly out of reach. All she remembered was the smile on his face as he walked away, leaving her standing there in a daze.
Liu Wei shook her head, trying to clear her thoughts. "What on earth did I get myself into?" she muttered to herself. She felt a mix of embarrassment, confusion, and curiosity. What had Zhang Yan whispered to her? And why had he kissed her?
Her heart raced as she wondered about the next time she would see him. She wasn't sure whether to feel angry, intrigued, or something else entirely.
With a sigh, she decided to push the memory aside and get ready for the day. But no matter how hard she tried, the thought of Zhang Yan—and that unexpected kiss—stayed with her, lingering like a secret she couldn't quite forget.
