Who am I to him?

Liah's POV

I woke up in the morning when the alarm went off. I rubbed my eyes and tried to open them, but the sun reflected on me, so I squeezed them shut. When I was fully awake, I tried to get off, but David was still on my chest. I touched his forehead to check his temperature, and he still has a fever.

"David ... David," I tapped his back. Instead of waking up, he started shivering. I was shocked. I didn't know what to do. I called the maids, and they rushed inside. As expected, they were also shocked.

"Tell the guards to get the car ready. We're going to a hospital," I said, removing David from my chest. His face was pale, his lips were dry on the top of that he was sweating.

"Liah ... Liah," he started mumbling.

"I'm here, David. You will be fine, okay," I said, holding his hand.

"Miss Anderson, the car is ready," one of the maids spoke.

"Can you give me a hoodie and sweatpants?" I asked. She quickly gave me what I asked. I wore them. "Give me another hoodie and pants, and you may leave," she did as I told her.

"Liah, I'm cold," he said as I removed his shirt.

"Just a little more," I tried to cheer him up. It took me fifteen minutes to change his clothes. After that, I called the guards, and they got him inside. I went behind them carried by the other guard and sat beside him. I wrapped my hand around his shoulder, and he rested on my chest.

"Don't...leave...me," he shattered.

"I won't," I replied.

"I didn't do anything," he finally said.

"We're here," the driver said and helped David go inside. I followed behind them, pulling my ankle. He took him to the doctor, and I went with David. He was lying on the bed, and the doctor started doing his job.

"What is your relationship with him?" he asked. I froze at the question. That's right, what am I to him? "Miss, what is your relationship with Mr. Adams?" he asked again.

"Fiancé, I'm his fiance," I replied nervously.

"Oh, congratulations," he smiled. I smiled back at him. "He is just having flu. I gave him medicine and he will be fine in an hour. Congratulations on your engagement," he said before leaving. I sighed in relief and sat on the chair. He looked peaceful while asleep. I imagined how things would have been if he was peaceful like this. He was not going to wake up for fifteen minutes, and I needed to pee urgently. So I decided to go to the restroom. It was not that far from David's room, but there was a line. I waited for ten minutes until I got in. 'Finally,' I said as I released my bladder.

When I came back, David wasn't awake. But he was covered in sweat. He then started mumbling something.

"Don't take her, she is mine," he kept talking.

"David ... David," I shook him slightly, which made him jump from his bed. He looked around confused, and when he saw me, he wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer to him.

"Don't go," he said between hiccups.

"It's ok, it was just a dream," I patted his back. He pulled out after a few moments and scanned the room he was in.

"Where am I?" he asked.

"You're in a hospital. You had a fever, and you almost passed out." I explained. He nodded and started removing the medication needles. "What are you doing?" I asked, holding his hand.

"I can't be here," he replied without looking at me. Just then, the doctor came inside.

"As always, Mr. Adams," he said, smiling. I was confused by his reaction because that is not how a doctor is supposed to react to his patient removing his medication.

"You know I can't stand being here," he smiled back.

"Your fiancé was worried about you," he put his hands inside his pocket.

"Really? She was worried?" he asked, looking at me with sparkling eyes. I turned my face to avoid eye contact.

"Of course she was. She was holding your hands even while you were asleep," the doctor elaborated.

"Like this," he said, intertwining our hands. "By the way, her ankle is twisted. Did you check it?" he questioned.

"No, I haven't. Let me check," he kneeled in front of me. he then started treating me. I hissed when he removed my bandage, and David hugged me tightly. The doctor then twisted my ankle, which made me scream at the top of my lungs.

"And done," he said when he finished covering my ankle with a bandage.

"It's ok now, princess," David said, kissing my head. I wiped my tears with my sleeve, and he picked me up from the chair.

"Put me down. You are sick yourself," I tried to escape from his arms only for him to tighten his grip.

"What did I say about taking care of you? You are my first responsibility. My health comes after your well-being. I will be fine if you are fine," he explained. "Have you eaten anything?" he asked. I shook my head in response. "Look, princess, you have to take care of yourself. I will die if anything happens to you," his eyes got teary.

"But you were sick. I couldn't think of food at that time," I replied.

"I told you, princess. Taking care of you is my priority. okay," he finally said. The doctor cleared his throat, earning our attention.

"You are very lucky, Miss. You have got this man whipped for you. Not everyone gets to experience this kind of love," he said, putting his hand on David's shoulder.

"I am the lucky one. Now, if you excuse us, we need to leave. My princess is hungry,"

"Sure, just take good care of yourself and her," he moved aside from the door. We went outside with people's eyes following us.

"David, please put me down. Everyone is staring at us," I whispered.

"Good, now everyone knows that you're mine," he smiled.
