Her Last Day

"Mom, I'm going!" Song Yu Qi came down from her room and said her mother goodbye.

Her mother who was cooking in the kitchen, ran out to see her daughter go. She saw that the food was kept as it is on the table. Pointing towards the food, she said "Yu Qi, have your breakfast at least."

Song Yu Qi wore her shoes and said "It's okay, Mom. I'm getting late. I'll grab a bite in the canteen."

Her mother took a piece of bread and walked to the doorway. Stuffing the piece in Yu Qi's mouth, she said "You should at least have a piece otherwise..."

"Otherwise your mouth smells." Rather than her mom completing the sentence, Song Yu Qi completed it. She had been listening to the same sentence ever since her childhood. Now that she was in high school, she completely remembered it along with her mother's actions.

Biting the piece of bread, she gave a kiss on her mother's cheek and bid her bye.

Her mother laughed at Song Yu Qi's behavior. "Aigoo! This girl is really getting me crazy!" Seeing her daughter's retreating back, Miss Song also said Bye.

The moment Song Yu Qi's mother closed the door, there came another goodbye from inside the house. Turning around, she saw her son, Song Min Chul all dressed neatly for his school.

But Song Min Chul wasn't like his sister. He always used to have his breakfast even if he was getting late. Taking the piece of bread from his mother's hand, he started to eat it.

After swallowing the last bite, he said "Alright, Mom. I'll go now. Sis will be angry."

He too kissed on her cheek and went out of the house saying her goodbye.

Song Yu Qi was seated in the front seat of her dad's car. The moment the door opened of the house, Song Yu Qi glared at her brother. "Can you not be on time?"

"I tried to be. But... You know mom right?" Opening the back seat of his dad's car, Song Min Chul sat inside. After settling properly, he whined "I was supposed to be sitting in the front, but since it's your graduation day, I'll allow you to take that precious front seat."

"Your precious front seat? This is mine, okay?" Song Yu Qi glared at him again.

"This is mine, okay?" Min Chul looked at his dad and said "Dad, Dad. This front seat is mine right?"

Mr. Song who was annoyed from the bickering of his young kids said "It's not even yours, nor yours." He made an 'X' with his fingers and continued "It's your mom's!" He pointed at the woman who was looking at them from the doorway.

Min Chul and Yu Qi both exclaimed in sync. "Ahhh! Daaaad! This ain't faiiiir!"

"It is. Now wave your mom bye, we need to get going."

Everyone waved at her bye and Mr. Song started off his car.

Dropping the kids to school, Mr. Song left for work.

Getting out of the car, Song Yu Qi heaved a deep sigh and looked at her school building, the building in which she had studied for 13 long years. Her school had all classes starting from Pre-Primary to High School, and today was the last day when she was going to leave this school once and for all.

Although, the thing that she won't be in this school anymore made her sad, but the promise which she had made to her parents when she had started with her high school made her cry.

Her brother, Min Chul who stayed looking at his sister couldn't stop laughing at her. "Seriously? Do girls cry this much when they leave their school? Trust me, when I will leave this school, I will be the most happiest person ever."

Taking a tissue from his pocket, he gave it to her. Yu Qi angrily snatched the tissue from him and wiped her tears. The tears which were about to fall from her eyes stopped as she glared angrily at her younger brother.

However, the promise came back to her mind once again and she asked in a soft voice "Were my tears visible?"

Hearing his sister's stupid question, Min Chul gave her an are-you-serious type of look. He then flicked on her forehead and said "It was so visible that it ruined your eye makeup."

"I didn't put any. And.. you shouldn't flick your elder sister." She hit him on his arm and he squealed in pain. "Ouchh! It was just a small flick. Why do you have to beat me unnecessarily? Ouch! Not again."

"This was also a small beating for a small flick." Turning him around, she started pushing him. "Now, go... You are getting late for class!"

"Alright! Alright! I'm going. Stop crying. It's not that you won't be seeing this school anymore. It's just near our house. If you miss it, then you can come hear anytime." Although, Min Chul was three years younger than Yu Qi, he knew how to treat his sister well.

Giving her a hug, he said her bye and went.

Turning around, Min Chul allowed the tears to fall. All the tears which he had kept hidden inside himself till the whole time he was talking with his sister, he allowed all those tears to flow out.

"I'll miss you, sister."

Min Chul also knew about the promise which his sister had made. He remembered how his sister was crying for going to high school.

But there was a certain rule in their family which was going on since generations, that the girls of the Song Family aren't allowed to study after their middle high school. They were to get married after learning all the household things.

However, the case of Song Yu Qi turned out to be different. Yu Qi had one dream in her life, she wanted to be a doctor, but unfortunately, she had to give up on her dream and make a promise.

Somehow, Yu Qi made her parents agree on studying. It remained a secret till the half of her first year. Until, it got exposed by her cousin brother. He had joined the school after the summer break and he was put in her class.

Seeing him unexpectedly in the class, she couldn't say anything but plead in front of him. She joined her hands together and begged him to be quiet, to not say about it, but who knew that the moment she would be entering her house, her family and her would be thrown out.

Everyone of the Song family came to know about it. Her parents were thrown out of the house while her mother was getting mocked everyday. Not only her parents, even her brother and she herself were tortured and mocked.

One day, it actually so happened that her father was hospitalized due to shock. Her once happy family turned into a disaster just because of her one small thing. Seeing her family all turned upside down, she ran to her grandparents house.

The guards did not allow her in, so she just knelt over there, so that her grandparents could see her. One day passed and she was still there. The evening had also come and she was still kneeling down. Everytime, her grandparents were taking a look at her and walking away.

She just sat there with no food or water. She just ate air and knelt down with her head lowered. Her eyes were all teary and red while her face had become pale.

The third day had come and the first thing which the grandparents did after waking up was to go and see through the balcony. They were surprised to see her there for the third day too. Calling one of their guards, they allowed her to come inside.

Song Yu Qi hurriedly ran inside. The pain which she received from kneeling vanished in an instant when she got to know that her grandparents had called her inside.

She ran into his chamber and knelt down. "I'm sorry! I wouldn't do such a thing again. I'll do as you say, just let me finish this high school once. I'll do anything. I promise."
