Chapter 43 He Like's You
"Rico, I am a little hungry. Can you buy me some lunch? Krisha, have you had lunch?" Eliz turned to her.
"Okay, I'll ask. What's your relationship with that man?" With her eyes wide as saucers, she took the cup from Eliz.
Eliz felt a little embarrassed, and she almost felt her cheeks warmed. They were friends, and she didn't know if Krisha would believe her or not.
"He's my friend," she simply said.
"Does he have a girlfriend?" Krisha prodded.
"None yet."
"Why don't you introduce him to me? I think he is very handsome."
"Okay, sure," Eliz agreed without hesitation.
Anyway, she didn't like him at all. If he could be together with Krisha, that would be great.
"No. Don't get me wrong. I don't want him. Even a blind person can tell that he likes you." Krisha pouted. Deep inside, Eliz agreed.
"Kris, don't say that." She pretended to disagree with her.
"Well..." Krisha squinted her eyes. "The next question is, where have you been living recently?" With a serious face, she acted like a judge in court.
"I do live outside alone," Eliz swore at Krisha. She looked at her sincerely and even raised her left hand as if she was swearing.
"Okay. Tonight, please take me to your house, and I'll have a look," Krisha challenged with a smug smile.
Eliz feigned a smile and sighed helplessly. 'I really can't hide anything from her, ' she thought to herself, defeated.
Seeing that Eliz lowered her eyes and kept silent, Krisha read that this matter was complicated. She said in a relaxed tone, "Liz if you don't want to talk about it, I won't say anything. I'm just worried about you. I've helped you change the bandage on your wound. Can you tell me how you got wounded?"
After hesitating for a while, Eliz decided to tell her the whole story, from how she got to know Pierce to the end. After hearing her story, Krisha was boggled.
"You mean..." she started "Now you live..." she stammered. "...live with Pierce?" she asked in disbelief. "As in living together?" she cleared. "And you made love to him?" she whispered. Krisha couldn't believe what she just heard.
"Did he use protection when you did that with him?" A logical and serious concern came to Krisha's mind. If Eliz got pregnant by accident, she would be in great trouble.
Eliz smiled coldly, and the tiredness deepened between her eyebrows. "Knowing him? How can I expect him to wear a condom?"
"Then..." Krisha gave her a quizzical look. "Haven't you gotten pregnant?"
"Maybe, God blessed me. But I would take pills before doing it."
"Don't take those pills too frequently. It's harmful to women. You are a doctor yourself. You should know that."
"Well, I know. I couldn't do anything about it. Don't worry I chose the ones with the least severe side effects," Eliz said without enthusiasm.
When Rico was back, his mood was much better as he saw that Eliz and Krisha had a good time talking and laughing.
"Rico, thank you so much." A touch of tenderness surged in Eliz's clear eyes. She was glad to have such caring friends.
"You're welcome, Liz. As long as I am with you, I'm happy." Rico's eyes were so expressive as if they were smiling on their own.
Until now, Eliz still couldn't understand why Pierce hated stars. It was weird. She wondered if it had anything to do with his first love.
"Liz, I want to tell you... I..." he sighed. "I love you. Maybe you feel strange about it. We haven't seen each other for so many years. I fell in love with you the moment we met at St Louis High School's dormitory. I liked you too when I was a child, and this kind of feeling would never change. I've heard that your parents are forcing you to have blind dates recently. You can consider me instead of going on blind dates. I'm a teacher, and I'm not earning an exceptionally high salary, but I swear I'll be good to you, and you'll be the only one in my life." Rico raised his eyebrows gently, and his voice was trembling. This was the first time he had confessed to a girl. He was so nervous that he was sweating and couldn't talk further after his admission.
"I...mmm..." Eliz was speechless. "I don't know what to say, Rico." Eliz swallowed, and she felt she was more nervous than Rico.
"It's okay, Liz. I'll wait for you. A man should take the initiative to confess to a woman. You can answer me when you have thought it over."
"Rico, I'm sorry. I have someone else in my heart."
It was then that Eliz realized that she was in love with Pierce.
Rico was stunned. He seemed to be a bit sad and disappointed.
Love was always so unreasonable. Even though he had known her first, he wasn't the one who got into her heart first. She simply rejected him.
He smiled as if he didn't care. "I understand, but I will still wait."
Eliz had noticed long before that Rico had a crush on her.
"I'm afraid I need to go now, Eliz. They said that my grandma suddenly passed out.
Eliz smiled at him and said immediately, "Go, just go! I can take care of myself. Don't worry about me. My friend will come soon and pick me up."
When she checked it, Pierce was calling.
"It's getting late. Why are you not home yet?" Pierce asked as soon as Eliz answered the call.
"I am in the hospital." Her voice was weak, but she pronounced each word.
"No, I'm not here to change the dressing. I fainted because of a heatstroke this morning. I was admitted for a glucose drip, and it hasn't finished yet." Eliz pursed her lips. She didn't know why she needed to tell him that in a gentle and helpless tone as if flirting with him, which was weird. It happened naturally.
"Which hospital are you in? I'll be right there," Pierce asked seriously.
"San Raffaele Hospital. Room 305 at the inpatient department..."
Pierce ended the call before she finished her words. Eliz put her phone away and shook her head with a genuine smile.
"Fred, can you help me with the meeting this afternoon? And please customize a pair of couple's phones from Germany for me, the latest high-end ones with GPS Trackers, as soon as possible," Pierce asked. He stood up casually and grabbed his briefcase from the table.
Fred was browsing some documents on his tablet. Seeing Pierce's movement, he smiled and asked, "Mr. Aleotti, where are you going?"
"To have fun!" Pierce flashed a wry smile.
Indeed, sometimes people are blinded when they fell in love, and they would experience the happiness of a child again.
"Then, I wish you a good time, Mr. Aleotti."
That moment Fred thought, 'A lover is more important than a good friend.'
Pierce got to the hospital as soon as he could. When he arrived, he immediately found Eliz in her ward.
"How could this happen?" he asked. He was standing in front of her bed.
She opened her eyes slowly with confusion.
"You scared me to death! I don't know what happened either. I was shopping with my sister in the morning, and then I had a heatstroke. Talk about bad luck,"
Eliz explained in a trembling voice without looking into his eyes. She was afraid that Pierce would notice she was lying.
If Pierce found out that she got heatstroke because she went to see Mavi for the last time this morning, he would be very mad, and she would be in big trouble.
Later, the Lamborghini was moving firmly on the busy highway. Eliz opened the window and let the evening wind blow in a little as she felt suffocated. Or maybe she was being choked by the thousands of thoughts running in her mind.
He wanted to know what exactly was bothering Eliz's so much. He liked to see her smiling and wanted to know what exactly was going on in her mind. Unfortunately, their time was about to end. This month had gone by like a blink of an eye. Pierce knew that Eliz had a dire desire to leave him immediately, but how could he let the love of his life go away like that?
At the Palomar's Mansion
Several pictures of Pierce and Eliz were scattered on the tea table in the living room.
The private detective appointed by the Palomar Family had taken about half a month to take those photos.
Most of them were taken when Pierce and Eliz were at the door. No. 520, Haibin Road had a very strong security system.
Taking the pictures in her hand, Teresa was about to explode with anger. Her eyes were red, and she was trembling out of rage. She clenched her fists and squeezed her nails into her flesh.
