WHAT DO YOU WANT

CHAPTER. 2

....

Then l couldn't wait any longer because it seemed she wouldn't talk even after having breakfast of toasted bread with honey spread, bacon, sausage and tea. So l decided to speak first;

'So Luna, what brings you here today after such a long time?' She hesistatedly said"Oh, umm,I came over to apologise for my wrongdoings" I knew that wasn't all but l played along, 'Hmm, that was all eight years ago, l had already forgiven you, Anyway thank you for the apology but l know there's more to say' She looked at me in the eye but couldn't hold it longer and looked at her feet now in shoes. She began: Eight years ago, l was very mean to you, or should l say, we were good friends but caused a lot of trouble for you. I broke a vase that belonged to Madam Patricia, do you remember her?'. She asked me and l nodded,' GO ON ' I said.

"When Madam asked who broke the vase, l was so scared and as usual l said it was you and l was left off the hook, l did that because, because,....." She stammered " because you always took the blame because of how mutual our friendship was. Earlier that day, l eavesdropped Madam speaking to a man who looked wealthy, and l so wanted to have a new home with nice stuff and all so when l was running back after she recommended me to the man, l hit the vase and it toppled over and broke. I think you know the rest....".

I was relieved that she told me the whole truth, so instead l asked ' You were adopted by the wealthy man, but l heard you came in barefooted and miserable. What happened?' I asked. That was what broke her, l saw tears well up in her eyes, and l said the first thing that came to my mind, "Save your tears for later,LuLu" She looked at me in surprise ' Did you just call me, LuLu?' She asked me and l nodded and she smiled the smile l love so much, Full of love and genuine. That smile was eight years ago when we were seven years of age. I smiled back and we both giggled and spoke of our childhood days to make her feel at home. Then we dozed off on the floor just like old times.
