He looked at Elena sleeping one more time before waking her up.
Elena blinked her eyes open and saw Lu Chenjun's face a few inches from hers. She immediately widened her eyes and stood up.
"You're here," she said.
"You're sleeping."
Elena nodded and looked down like a little girl caught stealing candy.
Lu Chenjun glanced at her and walked away, "Let's go."
They entered the underground parking lot and Lu Chenjun entered the back seat of a car. However, it wasn't the back seat of any car. It was the back seat of a limited edition Bugatti Chiron. It looked exactly like the one they saw in the shopping mall parking lot.
He couldn't have possibly been there right, Elena thought. She quickly entered the car and sat down without a word.
"What do you like to eat? I like American food." The way Lu Chenjun said it suggested that Elena should also say she liked American food.
"I'm fine with anything."
Lu Chenjun glared at her before turning the Fang Shi, "Go to Zuanji Steakhouse."
Elena has heard of this restaurant before. This steakhouse was a Michelin star restaurant, and you could only enter with a reservation.
Fang Shi started the engine and looked at Elena through the back mirror, "Yes sir."
It was 1:00 P.M. when they arrived at the restaurant and Elena wasn't feeling so well. She felt lightheaded and her throat was starting to hurt.
It wasn't really lunchtime anymore and the restaurant was relatively empty. Elena followed Lu Chenjun into a private room, and let him order.
As he ordered, Elena took a sip of the water. It was cold.
"Excuse me. Can you get me a cup of warm water please?"
"Okay, one second please."
Elena knew her body better than anyone did. She could guess that by tomorrow, she would probably have a cold. Her throat, head, and stomach all hurt. She put a hand to her stomach, and this small action was seen by Lu Chenjun.
Elena didn't want to look so weary on their first date, so she excused herself to the restroom.
Lu Chenjun watched her leave and sat there thinking about something.
"Waiter. Can you get me a cup of brown sugar ginger tea?"
The waiter raised his eyebrows and understood. "Yes, Mr. Lu."
Lu Chenjun couldn't believe he was doing this. He had never ordered brown sugar ginger tea for some random girl.
The next second, he was making a phone call, "Fang Shi. Go to the convenience store and buy. . ."
In the restroom, Elena fixed her makeup and put on some lipstick to add some life to her face. Her face looked very pale, and her headache was getting worse and worse. She told herself to stop being so weak and forced a smile onto her face.
When she went back into the private room, the food was already there. Next to the food, she also saw a cup of brown sugar ginger tea.
She stared at Lu Chenjun, who had already started eating.
"Did you order this?"
Lu Chenjun looked up, "Why do you ask when you already know the answer?"
Elena smiled and sat down, "I don't know the answer, but thank you."
She took a sip of the warm tea and wondered why he had chosen this drink instead of something like wine.
The food was amazing, and after the first bite, Elena couldn't even feel the stomach pain anymore. She devoured the food down quickly, and she realized how hungry she had been.
Lu Chenjun looked up at the sight of the girl eating like she hadn't eaten for three days and chuckled.
Elena heard this and looked up. She swallowed the food and took a large gulp of the brown sugar ginger tea.
"Don't look at me like that. If you hadn't been late, I wouldn't be so hungry."
Right after she finished talking, she knew she had said the wrong thing. Lu Chenjun's smile disappeared and he glowered at her.
Elena laughed awkwardly and whispered, "Not that it matters. It is my pleasure to wait."
She immediately lowered her head and began eating again. Lu Chenjun looked at her almost-empty plate and looked at his own. He sighed and pushed his plate over to her.
"I lost my appetite. Eat mine too."
Elena looked at the plate of meat and smiled sweetly, "Thank you, boyfriend."
In the past, all of his "girlfriends" either called him Mr. Lu, Chenjun, or just Jun. He had never heard the word "boyfriend" spoken to him before, and the corners of his mouth turned up into a small smile.
He rested his head on his hands and watched Elena demolish all the food.
Suddenly, Elena felt a sudden and sharp rush of pain to her stomach, and she closed her eyes. She dropped the knife and fork she was holding and put her hand over her stomach.
Lu Chenjun furrowed his brows and took out his phone.
He texted Fang Shi and asked, "Why are you still not here yet? Do you not want your year-end award anymore?"
Within 10 seconds, Fang Shi replied, "I am outside the restaurant. Coming, boss. Please don't take away my year-end award :(("
Elena emptied the whole glass of brown sugar ginger tea, and the sharp pain was gone. She looked at Lu Chenjun's plate of food and frowned.
She pushed the plate back to him, "You should eat it. My stomach can't hold that much food."
Just then, the door was pushed open.
"Boss, I'm here."
Elena and Lu Chenjun turned to look at Fang Shi, who was gasping for air while holding a plastic bag from a convenience store.
"Give the bag to Miss Jin Yinghui."
Elena looked at him and suddenly remembered to clarify something.
"Mr. Lu, you can call me Elena. Most people I'm close to call me that."
"Are we close?"
Elena shrugged and took over the plastic bag Fan Shi was holding.
She opened it, hoping to find some food. Her eyes grew wide with amazement as she flipped through what was inside the bag.
The plastic bag was filled with pads, underwear, and other period supplies!
