Love is Sweet: The Nation’s Princess Meets Her True Love

Excerpt: The corners of Lu Chenjun’s lips slightly curled up into an unreadable smile. ‘I let you go once because I was foolish and I thought that was what you wanted. I didn’t cherish you and didn’t treat you well before. Now that you are back, I will definitely not let you leave my side again. . . never again.’ Lu Chenjun stared at the woman on the screen with gentle and loving eyes, ‘Yinghui, let me take care of you, spoil you, and love you. . .’ --- Just like any other romance story, our female lead Jin Yinghui was cruelly kicked out of her home at the age of 18. In despair, she left for Korea and became a successful female idol through her hard work and dedication. Her breathtaking visuals and diverse talents earned her the title of the Nation’s Princess in Korea. She tried her best to wipe away all the bad memories from her past and even used a different name, Elena. Her life takes another turn when her company sends her back to her birthplace, Jin Province. In her homeland, new challenges are awaiting her. Jealousy from other celebrities and little fame in the entertainment industry of the Jin Province all stand as obstacles that prevent Elena from taking the easy path. However, one good thing does find its way to Elena in the Jin Province. She meets Lu Chenjun, the CEO of the LIQuan Company. As a playboy, he develops an interest in Elena and asks her to be his girlfriend. Elena understands that she needs a pillar to hold onto and help her build a strong foundation in the entertainment industry of the Jin Province. She consents to his proposal and Lu Chenjun becomes her first boyfriend. Will their relationship remain strong or will the challenges that appear break them apart? --- Note: This is a slow romance novel and there are some misunderstandings that all get cleared up relatively quickly. Update: 1 to 2 chapters daily and mass releases often This is an original story by me and not a translation. The picture in the cover is not mine. Credits to the owner :) I hope you enjoy it! Don't Lie To Me

"Then, do you know about the girl that Lu Chenjun ate with on 5/20?"

Fang Shi shuffled nervously in his seat at Elena's question. Chu Hua was in Mr. Lu's office in the afternoon, so she must have eaten with him on 5/20.

Seeing that Fang Shi was getting uncomfortable, Elena knew that something was wrong.

Since Fang Shi has worked under Lu Chenjun for a long time, Elena guessed that Fang Shi must also have a brain for business. He would never do something or say anything without something in return.

"Assistant Fang, you should know that your boss's mood fluctuates greatly, right? If you tell me about the girl, I promise that I will keep your boss in a good mood." Elena raised one eyebrow at Fang Shi, who was driving, and looked at him with a mischievous twinkle in her eyes.

"Miss Jin Yinghui, are you trying to get words out of me?"

Elena shrugged, "No, I'm her girlfriend. Don't you think I deserve to know."

Fang Shi knit his eyebrows together but kept his eyes on the road. It was true, Jin Yinghui was still his boss's girlfriend.

"The girl's name is Chu Hua."

Elena looked at Fang Shi in surprise. She didn't expect it to be so easy for Fang Shi to tell her the information.

"I will tell you what I know, but do not tell Mr. Lu that I was the one who told you all of this."

Elena nodded. As of now, the most important thing was to get the information first.

"So. . . Chu Hua's dad and Mr. Lu's dad were very good friends. They graduated from the same college and also worked in the same company. However, two years after Chu Hua was born, her dad died from cancer. From what I know, Mr. Lu and his parents helped the Chu family a lot the first few years after Chu Hua's father's death. Before Mr. Lu created the LIQuan Company, he already lived a pretty comfortable life. Mr. Lu's parents all had stable jobs, and you could say they were pretty rich. His parents were able to give Chu Hua and her mom a lot of money since Chu Hua's mom didn't have a job."

Fang Shi paused for a second before continuing, "However, Mr. Lu was the first to find out that most of the money his parents gave to the Chu family actually went to drugs and gambling. Chu Hua's mom began doing drugs after the death of her husband, and also began to abuse Miss Chu Hua. I think Mr. Lu was able to get closer to Chu Hua due to this. Miss Chu Hua told Mr. Lu about her problems and they began to hang out with each other a lot. After Mr. Lu turned 17, they began dating. So far, Miss Chu Hua is the only girl that Mr. Lu had ever truly loved. However, one year later, Miss Chu Hua had to leave for France. . . and now she's back."

Elena took a moment to process the story in her mind before she asked, "So, Lu Chenjun has known Chu Hua for basically all his life?"

Fang Shi nodded as he stopped the car near the sidewalk, "We're here."

Elena didn't move, her eyes staring blankly at the dead tree in front of them.

"Miss Jin Yinghui, we're here."

Elena broke out of her stupor and she gave Fang Shi a small smile.

"Thank you for driving me and answering my question today." Without waiting for a reply, Elena hopped out of the car and ran into the warehouse.

She placed her bag onto the chair in her changing room, and sat down, waiting for Mila to arrive.

Her eyebrows knit together unknowingly as she thought about the new information she had just gained.

'Lu Chenjun has only ever had feelings for her. . . Yet here I am, my heart carried away by him.'

Elena laughed at herself. Love can be the most wonderful and beautiful thing, but at the same time, it can be the most painful and dangerous thing in this world.

---

Lu Chenjun tapped one foot on the ground while spinning a black pen around in his hand. He looked out the full-length window as he waited for her to arrive.

The door to his office opened, but he didn't look to see who it was. He stood up and dropped the pen.

Chu Hua walked in happily, this was the first time Lu Chenjun had invited her over since she came back.

"Chenjun, why did you call me over?"

Lu Chenjun studied Chu Hua, not at all hiding the coldness and suspicion in his eyes.

Yesterday night, he had stayed awake wondering why the message didn't send. It made sense that he didn't receive the calls, as his phone battery died.

However, even if the message was sent after his phone had died, it would still show up in the history of messages he had with Elena.

Furthermore, the message was sent before he had run out of battery. Everything installed in his phone was the best modern technology, so there was no way that the message just disappeared by itself or didn't send. The only possibility was if someone had purposefully messed with the message.

He thought about who had access to his phone on 5/20 besides himself. The only person he came up with was Chu Hua.

Lu Chenjun lifted one eyebrow and looked down, picking up the pen once again.

"What did you do in my office the last time you came?" Lu Chenjun didn't like to beat around the bush.

Chu Hua looked startled for a second, but quickly returned to her calm expression. Lu Chenjun spun the pen once in his hand, not missing a single reaction from Chu Hua.

"You saw me, I was sleeping on the couch."

"Before that."

Chu Hua avoided Lu Chenjun's piercing gaze, "I sat in your chair for a minute."

That wasn't a lie, but Lu Chenjun didn't stop his interrogation.

"Did you touch my phone?"

Chu Hua's eyes widened in surprise at his question. Did he figure something out?

Lu Chenjun licked his lips as he spun the black pen once more.

Chu Hua cleared her throat before looking Lu Chenjun in the eye, "Why would you think I touched your phone?"

Lu Chenjun frowned as his fingers spun the pen again, slowly this time.

"I never accused you of touching my phone. I asked if you touched my phone."

Chu Hua lifted her hand up and pushed a strand of hair behind her face, "I didn't touch your phone. I didn't even know that your phone was in the office."

Lu Chenjun leaned forward on his desk and squinted his eyes together, "Don't lie to me, Chu Hua."

Chu Hua's breathing quickened and she bravely met Lu Chenjun's gaze, "I am not lying to you."

Lu Chenjun didn't move, and Chu Hua also bravely kept her eyes locked on Lu Chenjun. Only she knew that her heart was beating abnormally fast right now.

Lu Chenjun looked away and pushed his arms off of the table. He flipped the black pen one last time before dropping it onto his desk.

"Okay." Lu Chenjun sat back down, his cold gaze replaced with indifference.

Chu Hua released her tension and took a deep breath. It's good he didn't find out.

Lu Chenjun turned his chair around as he began to tap his feet on the ground again, the back of his head facing Chu Hua.

'Why would she lie to me?'

Lu Chenjun wasn't stupid. All of Chu Hua's behaviors and actions exposed her. Lu Chenjun didn't step up to become the most powerful man in the nation without anything up his sleeve.

Although he knew that Chu Hua was lying to him, he didn't want to expose her right away. In the business world, everyone has their secrets. Instead of pushing her to the edge of the canyon, this was a good way to find out what else Chu Hua was hiding from him.

Lu Chenjun wanted to be able to return to their original love and relationship, but this wasn't going to be possible if Chu Hua was going to keep hiding stuff from him.

Seeing that Lu Chenjun wasn't suspicious of her anymore, Chu Hua began to focus on the real reason for why she was here.

'As expected, he is still head-over-heels for me. So what if he is the most manipulative and smart businessman in the nation, he still can't recognize a lie in front of me.'

Lu Chenjun caught the flash of confidence passing through Chu Hua's eyes. He smiled, confidence is a good thing. But overconfidence is not.

Seeing Lu Chenjun's smile, Chu Hua mustered up the courage to bring up her idea.

"Chenjun, I have an idea."

"What is it?"

Chu Hua sat down in the chair across from Lu Chenjun, "How about I move in with you?"
