"So what happened after that, and why did you act like you didn't know her?" asks Lucas.

Well, we looked at each other for a few seconds when she tried to stand up. She fell on me again, and someone came over to her.

He helped her up and asked if she was okay.

"He? Who was that?" asks Ian.

"Don't tell me he was her boyfriend," says Lucas.

No, no, he wasn't.

He was a lot older than her.

It was her grandfather.

"Oh," they say both at the same time.

"What happened after that?" asks Ian.

She looked at me and extended her hand to me, but I didn't take it...

"What! Seriously man. She gave you a heads-up. What did you do?" asks Lucas.

Just let me finish, man. I sigh, and they nod their head.

I didn't take her hand because she seemed to be in pain. I say.

"Pain?" says Ian.

Yeah, like she was injured.

"Oh, that is why," says Lucas.

Then I left and caught the flight.

I was in my room when someone entered it out of nowhere, and we bumped against each other.

I was initially annoyed, but then I noticed it was her again.

She grabbed my chest so that she wouldn't fall.

I pushed her away a little.

"Why? You should have just kissed her on the spot," says Lucas.

I roll my eyes at him. And then Ian slaps him on the back of his head again.

"How could he do that when they had just met? Even I would disown him if he did that," says Ian.

"Not you acting like you are his father," says Lucas while caressing the back of his head.

I tell them the whole story, and they stare at me in shock.

"Wow, I can't believe she was brave enough to ask you that," says Ian.

"Bro, I don't know how you could hold yourself like that," says Lucas.

"What do you mean? Are you having weird thoughts again?" says Ian while putting Lucas's head under his shoulder.

"It hurts. Let gooo!" says Lucas.

Honestly, it was hard for me to hold in. I say, and they both stop looking at me in shock.

There were many times when I had to tell myself to come back to my senses. I say.

"Woah. Who thought we would hear this from Nathan?" says Lucas.

"I am happy you found someone that makes you feel like that," says Ian.

I sigh.

Don't make this a big deal.

I don't even know if we will meet her again.

"Don't worry, son. If it is meant to be, you will see her again," Ian says, gently slapping my shoulder.

I laugh, and Lucas rolls his eyes.

* A week later*

-Mia's Pov:

Tringggg, Tringgg, goes my alarm.

I get up excitedly and put off my alarm.

Finally!

The day came.

I am going to college today.

I put my hair out of my face.

Evelyn comes in, squeaking.

"Ahh, I am so excited," she says.

It seems like you are more excited than me. I say, smiling.

"I am just soo happy you get to go to college. Knowing that you are a sweet person, I know people will like you," she says.

I really hope so.

I am so excited too. I say, beaming.

"Well, go fresh up, and then we will eat breakfast," says Evelyn.

I nod my head, and she goes out, closing the door.

I put off my clothes and go into the shower.

My wounds are much better now.

I don't really feel dizzy anymore, and the wound on my head is almost gone.

Evelyn and Olivia have been helping me around.

I am so thankful to them.

We have also been testing out different drinks every night while we sit together and eat something or watch a movie in either my room or Evelyn's.

My favourite drink is Mirinda at the moment.

I like the strawberry flavour the most.

I quickly shower and put on something comfortable while keeping my hair down.

I see everyone sitting down at the table already.

Dad stands up the moment he sees me.

"Good morning, dear," he says while kissing me on the forehead.

It has been a sort of routine that dad does.

Stepmom looks at me and smiles at me.

Sometimes I don't know if she is fake smiling or not.

I smile back.

Good morning. I say, looking at dad and her.

"Good morning, dear sister. Did you have a good sleep?" asks Noah.

Yeah, I did. I say to him.

"That is good. It is your first day of college. Are you ready?" he asks me again.

Yeah, I am.

"Noah, stop with the questions. Mia, have breakfast, darling," says dad.

These days, I have been eating with Olivia and the other girls because I wasn't really comfortable yet, but I sit opposite my stepmom next to dad and Evelyn.

Dad looks at me, shocked.

I smile at him.

"Dear, Emily sits there...." says stepmom but dad puts his hand up, and she stops talking.

"It doesn't matter where everyone sits as long as we are together as a family. Right honey?" says dad while taking my hand and his other hand with stepmom's hand.

Stepmom smiles at dad.

"Yeah, that is right," she says while letting go of dads hand.

Olivia comes with Ella and Chloe behind her and puts the food on the table.

She looks at me and mouths good morning.

I smile at her and mouth her good morning while looking at Chloe and Ella as well.

Stepmom looked at me all this while, but I didn't care, honestly.

Emily comes down and looks at me.

"You are sitting with us today?" she says.

Yeah, I am. I say.

"That is good," she says, smiling.

Stepmom fake coughs.

We both look at her.

"My love, Mia is sitting at your place today. Come sit here," she says while gesturing for Noah to move to the next chair.

Noah does as he is told as if he expected it from his mom.

"It's okay, mom. It is not a big deal," she says while going over to her side.

Emily has been talking more to me these days.

When I came here first, I thought we wouldn't get along, but I was wrong.

Olivia comes again with something and places it in front of Noah.

Noah looks at her.

"Your favourite. It is smashed avocado toast with egg," Olivia says, smiling.

"Oh, thank you," he says.

I look at Olivia weirdly and then at Evelyn.

Evelyn laughs.

I looked around the table, and everything looked soo good.

"Olivia made this for you. It is very healthy. It is a Tropical yoghurt bowl," she says while giving me a bowl and a spoon.

I take a spoon of it.

Oh, it is soo bitter. I say.

Evelyn laughs.

"It is suitable for your health. You have to finish it," says Evelyn.

I make a baby face.

Do I have to? I say.

"Yes, you do," says Evelyn.

"Force yourself, darling. It will help with your headaches," says dad.

I nod and silently eat my food.

After we finish, Evelyn and I go upstairs.

I quickly put on my clothes.

It was black cargo pants with a black turtleneck, and I put on an oversized t-shirt over it. I tucked the oversized t-shirt in the back while letting it loose in the front.

I put on a necklace.

I watched some videos of different styles and how to do make-up.

Now, I at least know what some products are called.

Evelyn promised that she would do my hair.

I didn't really want to do make-up, but she said she would do something simple, so I agreed.

I walk to Evelyn, and she looks at me.

"Ohhh, you went for tomboy style. It suits you," she says while letting me sit in front of the mirror.

After a while, she finishes my hair.

"I put it in a bun while leaving some hair in the front. This way, it looks classic but at the same time cute and stylish. Do you like it?" she asks me.

Yeah, it looks nice. I say, smiling.

"Now, I will do your eyeliner," she says.

After she was finished, she put mascara and lip gloss on me.

"Finished. This is the final look," Evelyn says.

You always let the magic happen. I say to her while beaming with happiness.

"It's all you," she says while putting me in a hug.

Olivia comes in and looks at me for a second.

"You look so gorgeous, Mia," she says while coming over to me.

Not as gorgeous as you. I say to Olivia.

"Oh, don't play with me," she says while putting me in a hug as well.

"Did you take your pills?" asks Evelyn.

Yeah, I already did. I say.

"I know you don't need to bandage your wounds anymore, but be extra careful. Anything can happen," she says.

I will.

Don't worry about it. I say.

"Did you take your phone?" asks Evelyn.

Yeah, I have it here. I say.

"You will have to go now, or you will be late," says Olivia.

Okay. I say while picking up my bag and putting on sneakers.

I went downstairs, and dad was waiting for me in front of the door.

"You look stunning, darling," he says.

Thanks, dad.

"Are you nervous?" he asks me.

Yeah, a lot. I say.

"Don't be. Everything will be fine. I talked to the principal so that he will show you everything," says father.

I smile.

"Robin will personally take you there. If you need anything, tell him," he says.

I will.

Stepmom comes and looks at me from up to down.

"Darling, what are you wearing?" she says.

What do you mean?

Is there something wrong with this? I ask her.

"You look like a boy with these clothes," says stepmom.

"Mom! What are you saying?" says Emily.

"What! I am just stating the facts," she says.

"It suits her, honey. If it is her style, you can't change it," says dad.

Stepmom sighs.

"Oh, by the way, Emily will be with you because her school is on the way," says father.

Oh, that is good.

It will be less lonely.

"You guys will have to go now," says Evelyn.

Emily and I go out the door.

Uncle Robin was waiting for us there.

When he sees us, he opens the door.

Emily goes in without saying anything.

Good morning, uncle. I say.

"Good morning, daughter. Are you excited?" he says, smiling.

Very! I tell him, and he laughs.

"Then let's hurry up," he says.

I go in the car, and he closes the door.

He comes as well and starts the car.

After a while, we arrive at Emily's school.

She gets out of the car.

She looks at me one last time.

"Make sure to make lots of friends," she says weirdly.

I nod my head, and she closes the door.

Then minutes later, we arrived at college.

I say my byes to Robin and get out of the car.

I take a big breath and walk towards the college.

Many people were staring at me, making me even more nervous.

Out of nowhere, a man stops me.

"Are you Mia Mason?" he asks.

I nod my head.

"Oh, welcome. I am William, the principal," he says while extending his hand.

I shake it.

"Come, I will show you the way," he says.

We go into the college.

I hear people whispering.

"Who is she that she is getting walked by the principal?" asked a random girl.

"Who is this girl? Is she new?" random girl.

We go into the lift, and he clicks on the third floor.

"Don't worry about getting lost in here. One of your classmates will show you around later on. By the way, here is your timetable. It tells you your next lesson, what floor, room and time you have your lesson" he says while giving me a paper.

I nod my head and take the paper from him.

We arrive, and the lift opens.

We go out, and he goes into a classroom.

The person standing in front of the student greeted the principal the moment we came in.

"Mia, this is your maths teacher Ms Savannah. Ms Savannah, this is Mia," says the principal.

The teacher greets me, and I do too.

"I will leave you guys to it," he says, leaving the classroom.

"Guys, this is your new classmate. Make sure to make her feel welcome. Introduce yourself," she says.

I look in shock at him.

He looked at me, startled too.

I rub my eyes and look at him again.
