Julie Madrigal was a mother of two children. Once she was legally separated from her ex-husband, she went to the only place she felt safe. The Scottish Highlands. Then again, she had only seen the place in books and videos, but the land called to her. And she wasn't expecting love. Duncan McLaren was the current Laird of the land. He was charming, helpful, and the epitome of a perfect man. Yet he hides a secret that would destroy the very thing he hold dear to his heart. Meeting Julie was kismet and he would gladly give up everything to be with her and the kids. But will love be enough to keep her? Or will the past destroy everything?
I was still smiling when we arrived at Duncan's house. From Vi's advances to the astonished look on Mike's face when he was given an invitation. I mean who would have thought those things would happen?
The minute the car was safely inside the garage, the kids dashed out of the door shouting 'Puppies!'
I gave Duncan an evil eye before reaching the latch to the car, but his hand stopped mine. I looked at his hand and then at his face. There was a guilty look in them which made me pause and ask, "Where did those pups come from?"
"Hades," he simply said. Duncan was rubbing the back of his neck as he continued, "He was waiting in the living room with pups encased in a crystal. The pups have been in his care for the past three centuries."
"And he popped in your house to hand over the pups to you?" I dubiously asked.
He sighed and nodded. "His words, 'Consider this as a housewarming gift to you and your little family.' Before you say anything, here."
