Julie Madrigal was a mother of two children. Once she was legally separated from her ex-husband, she went to the only place she felt safe. The Scottish Highlands. Then again, she had only seen the place in books and videos, but the land called to her. And she wasn't expecting love. Duncan McLaren was the current Laird of the land. He was charming, helpful, and the epitome of a perfect man. Yet he hides a secret that would destroy the very thing he hold dear to his heart. Meeting Julie was kismet and he would gladly give up everything to be with her and the kids. But will love be enough to keep her? Or will the past destroy everything?
I got the answer the next day.
I woke up to the sounds of barking dogs, and Nicole's squeal of laughter. It was followed by Claude's shout of glee. Then Colin cursed like a sailor.
I was alone in Nicole's room and the sun was halfway up the sky. Duncan must have let me sleep in. The side of the bed where he slept was cold.
I got up, did my usual routine in the morning, and braced myself for whatever I would find.
I know this was not my house. I guess it would be eventually, but now, I breathed a sigh of relief that the kitchen was not in shambles, which was a good sign. There was also a note on the fridge telling me that my food was warming in the oven. They cooked waffles and left me two pieces. As for the kids, I do not know how many had they eaten, I was not going to that territory.
