"Saaki. Heal Gyotaro now". I yelled and got the nod from one of the healers. Gyotaro was the tank in our team, defending the front with his arm injured severely.
I hoped that we could maintain the pattern and handle this as one but all futile. The lack of coordination was results of no prior training. But still, we held for the first half-hour and wiped dozens of monsters.
The warriors and assassin were fighting diligently with the buff, our second healer was supplying. The scale of this creature was so tough that without buff, our assaulters wouldn't have been able to leave a single cut.
Their scale weirdly moves according to the upcoming attack on any part of their body. Not to mention that sly tails of theirs which moves like a whip and slashes any kinds of magic which were thrown at them.
Mages were the least useful in offense support. If I was not present here then these two healers would have perished earlier than any other.
It was astonishing to realize that these creatures had the intelligence to target the healers first amongst us all. And looking at their attacking pattern and speed they were no doubt B rank monsters.
Our group was barely holding the defending end. I didnt count but I have finished more than 2 dozen lizards alone. But there were still almost 20 or so monsters were attacking us. We have to watch out for their tongue too. It contains a lethal venom that had torn everyone's armor except me. I was also got attacked several times but their tongues didnt touch me.
Reason?
Well, someone chanted a barrier around me before this whole assault took place. I was touched on realizing how considerate he was but I didnt have the time to reward him as my hands were full.
" Fubuki san on your back". Ruri one of the mage from the team shouted toward me.
"Yeah, I got it". Raising my both hands in the air and applying every last drop of my mana I lifted four lizards simultaneously in the air and with every energy, I could apply, I bashed them together before a purple splash of blood flew in all directions.
" Haaaa." I plopped down on my knees with my legs shivering uncontrollably . I looked toward the others and found them finishing the last of the monsters with their blades and hammers.
Everyone also slumped down on the ground with body exhausted. The situation was worst for the tanks and healer. They both never stopped doing their work as healers were buffing and healing the injured and tanks was protecting the mages of our team.
"Good job guys. We sure did better than I expected after seeing their quantity". I somehow stood up before cheering them up.
" Thanks, captain. You did a great job coordinating us".
"Yeah without you, we might have died".
" Our captain is so cool. Please join our guild after returning". They all commented back in a weak tone but satisfaction was mutual among all of them.
'Without me huh..' I chuckled inwardly at the thought of giving myself all the credit where the main role of saving all of us, was done by someone else.
We didn't had a chance to survive hundreds of monsters with the lack of team tactics, and surely we would have gotten annihilated at some point in the fight if he didnt had interfered.
I looked toward the sky and found a handsome young man wearing a spotless, plain white shirt and black trousers descending from the sky. He landed just beside me and hugged me from the side.
I left my body in his support completely and rested my head on his shoulder.
"Thanks for helping us".
" I don't know what you are talking about". He said in an aloof manner but I knew without his support, I won't be here hugging him right now.
"Did it help you somehow?" I asked as he was eager to see a team fighting side by side.
"Ah. I am fine alone, that I can guarantee now". His answer was something I expected but I won't say that I wasn't disappointed a little.
" Hey don't make that face. You looked cool and beautiful while you were fighting. My whole focus was pointed on you all the time". He held me more closely.
"Mm. I know. I felt your gaze on me but not sure where you were focusing". I narrowed my eyes as I asked with a smirk.
"Of course, your face and your awesome moves but it wasnt like my eyes didnt fall on something more inviting". He whispered before biting my ear.
I was about to respond to him in a way that he might not expect but suddenly he turned his head toward the source of all invaders we have faced.
Following his gaze, I also turned my head.
A loud gasp left my mouth as I saw what was coming.
The same kind of lizards was crawling down the mountain but the quantity of them was almost double from the previous one. It didnt stop there, apart from the lizard something long and slithering creature also emerged from the hole and started darting toward us. The new monster's speed was superior to the lizards.
" Di-din't we defeated them right now?"
"Yeah but it seems that the boss wants to keep us busy".
The other hunters also spotted them approaching and their faces seemed to lost their color. Their will to fight has already been extinguished because of the previous aftermath and especially because of the massive quantity of new invaders. They dropped their weapons and only stared at the volcano.
" What..should we do Captain". The team's prime fighter Karame san asked me in a shaky voice. Like me, he was also an experienced hunter, with whom I have ventured before too. During the whole cordial he never showed this kind of scared look which he was exhibiting right now.
"Gather everyone and enjoy the show". Before I could have responded, Subaru said in a calm tone.
Seeing him like this, without any fear or stress, and still holding me dearly, made me relaxed too. I inhaled before nodding toward Karame san.
He nodded in response and without any other word, proceeded toward the others.
I knew others were not calm at all and still believed that they were destined to be killed. But I had faith in my love and with that trust, I could still smile and hope to get out of this place safe and alive.
" That smile tells me that you are not afraid anymore". The creature was nearing every passing second but I wasnt looking at them but only focusing on the smiling face near me. His eyes made me feel safe and this feeling of being relying on someone feels...
...sweet.
"I trust you". I said before I brought my face near him and landed my lips on his.
______...______
The feeling of despair and death nearing every passing moment was something nobody wants to feel in their life. But right now the hunters sitting on the bare ground could define what it feels when your life wasnt in your hand.
Most of them didnt believe whether the boy who was lazing around until now, would be able to save them and for how long. They knew death was definite as the count of monsters nearing them was making their belief stronger.
As the long slithering snake-like creature reached half a kilometer away from the group, a figure emerged in front of everyone with his hand crossed behind his hand as he walked slowly forward.
" Is he trying to act cool?"
"He will be killed within a second like this".
" Let's get the gear. We can't leave our safety in the hands of a brat". Some of them fight the urge to lie down again and stood up somehow with their weapons in hand.
Never did they imagine what was going to unfold in front of them...

[Ullr]
An elemental spell which I have created some months ago before I went to school. It basically concentrates solely on my water element and creates a field where the temperature drops drastically, resulting in freezing everything in the way even the moving air.
After creating a bow of pure mana, I formed the spell and after some second, a white foggy stick-like arrow which had white smoke continuously leaking out like nitrogen gas emerged on my palm.
I stretched the bow with the arrow aimed toward the open air. I intentionally didnt target the warm hole and shot it before it.
*SWIIIINNN*
The arrow flew at a speed that I guess without many I won't have able to sense, and in the way, it started freezing everything which fell under it.
I already created a barrier around everyone so the backlash doesn't kill them.
Within half-minute, the whole southern part of the island where we were, turned into yuki color. The creatures who were a meter away from me were now out cold with their nerves frozen and life fading away slowly.
Soon the lizards on the backside started dying but that wasnt my focus.
I narrowed my eyes and saw something which I haven't seen before.
Dark black fog was leaking out of those bodies like they were targeting at something. My eyes widened as I realize that it wasnt targeting but was inviting me...
'Interesting'.
