Difficult Enemy?!

Laotian crossed his leg after picking up his glass of scotch whiskey and ice before he looked at Tian Zi who was pouring himself a glass as well. They had already finished eating dinner, they also chatted a bit while doing so, so now it is time to talk about the real reason why this youngest brother of his came personally to ask for help since this was definitely nothing like.

His eyes wandered to the envelope on the table that was placed by the young Alpha when they came inside the room but Laotian waited patiently because it was not that he was in a rush. Still, he was really curious about what this was all about for his younger brother to act this way for the first time.

With his sharp and observing gaze, Laotian watched Tian Zi gulp all the liquor down his throat before putting the glass down on the wooden table. Since scotch is usually served in small amounts, there is no problem in gulping it down in one go if you don't mind the strong taste of it, however, it is a strong liquor that could knock someone down with just one shot. Laotian didn't mind the young Alpha drinking since he's already old enough to do so but he was afraid that Tian Zi would get drunk before he could tell him what he needed from him. Still, as calm as he is, he remained silent and continued to observe as he slowly sipped on his own drink.

"Eldest brother, like I said on the phone. I need your help," Tian Zi started, looking at Laotian seriously. Thankfully, it does not look like the liquor was strong enough for him to get drunk instantly.

"Yes. What is it that you need then?" Laotian asked since he knew that already, what he wanted to know was what kind of help was needed from him.

"I think you already know but Fyre used to be involved with dangerous people. I want you to help me take them down because I don't have power when it comes to these kinds of things. I'm only good with data gathering but when it comes to dangerous situations, I don't know much," Tian Zi said but Laotian didn't reply. Honestly, he wouldn't mind helping. However, considering that Tian Zi came to him for this just means it's something he could not handle himself, meaning just like he said, it is a very dangerous task that could cost lives.

Unfortunately, if he was to deal with something 'dangerous', he was afraid his family would get involved again. Laotian had been staying low profile even though he still did illegal transactions because he didn't want Daniel to get worried. After all, he promised the Omega back then that he would be careful and that he won't be involving himself with dangerous activities. But then again, it's not like he could just leave Tian Zi handle something he couldn't.

"They haven't done anything yet but I'm anxious. I did some thorough digging and this is what I've found." Tian Zi added and pushed the envelope he had on his side of the table to Laotian's. Laotian continued to stay silent as he took the files and read through them. And as he did, a headache slowly crept inside his head and a deep frown formed on his forehead.

"These people are the same people that are causing today's uproar. Human trafficking, Drugs, slavery, firearms, corruption... They could get away with it because there were so many influential individuals who had been covering for them but after Fyre and I helped capture half of their protector to help Maverick with his situation, I'm guessing they're already on our tails. I also discovered that those men who were directly involved with Maverick were recently killed in their prison cells." Tian Zi informed while Laotian continued to read through the files and truthfully, he actually knew that those old men were killed as it was reported to him by his men since he especially involved himself with it for his wife.

Firstly the report came to him when one of them managed to escape the cell. It was reported that someone infiltrated the prison to help the man escape but the next day he was found dead on the roadside just outside the border to City Z. He was badly beaten up as if he was tortured. And then it was later again reported that the same had happened to the rest. Five policemen were even involved, four were critically injured and one died on the spot at the enemy infiltration and encounter.

It was truly an unfortunate event and Laotian knew they were assassinated by whichever illegal organization those men were affiliated with but since he was not directly involved and he didn't really care what would happen to them, Laotian thought he didn't have to mind it but he didn't think that Tian Zi and his future in-law were somehow connected. If things are like this, even if Tian Zi didn't ask for help, he might need to settle this as well.

If they find out about what Tian Zi and Fyre did, there is no way their enemies would think he was out of this because he's the current patriarch of the family. Furthermore, his wife is Daniel and Daniel is Maverick's cousin who is the main reason all of this came out on the surface. He can't have this drag the Sullen name down or else his wife would become sad.

Looking at the picture he's holding, Laotian couldn't help but massage his temples because the mastermind of this said dangerous group Tian Zi was talking about was a very influential person. Who would have thought he was the secretary of the Department of Defense of the state? No wonder they could easily hide their tracks. As long as the scandal was easily covered, they could run wild whenever they could. Laotian knew because he worked alongside the government multiple times for his own transactions so the secretary of defense will definitely be a troublesome opponent to take down.

"When Fyre and I decided to help Maverick, we didn't really expect we would be uncovering something like this and most especially the connection to Fyre's past. I know right now nothing is happening but I cannot just let my guard down and wait for something to actually happen. Fyre's extremely terrified of these people, he's been traumatized for so long, and naturally, I wanted to protect him…"

"But we all know I'm not that capable yet so I'm asking for your help. Coincidentally, Fyre's co-star is also acquainted with such a dangerous group. I'm not too sure if you can help me since our enemy is that powerful, but I've gathered all my courage to ask you," Tian Zi conveyed anxiously because he knew the department of defense and the government was one of the Mo Empire's backers as well. It surely wouldn't be good to make enemies with people who also know their dirt.

"Where did you get all of these?" Laotian finally asked, hiding his frustration as he put the papers down.

"I hacked into the national security database and a couple of government owned sites." Tian Zi simply replied. It's too difficult to find things from scratch and it would be easier and faster if he hacked into the country's 'most' secure database to find his enemies. He wasn't very hopeful at first but luckily, he found them with the little time he had. Of course, Fyre helped him too because he used to do some things for these people before as well and he still remembered those things he did for them.

"All right. I will help you. For now, just make sure you are beside your Omega to protect him, I'll do the rest and try to settle this as silently as possible. I'll contact you in two weeks after I schedule a meeting but if my plan doesn't work, you should be prepared to put your life on the line," Laotian assured and later warned about the possible outcome. He knew the person they are dealing with so it might be easier to settle this peacefully but if his plan doesn't work, things might get a bit complicated and lives will be at stake. He wanted Tian Zi to know that and be prepared at all times. This would also serve as an experience for him because after this, he would have to protect his own family on his own.

"I understand and thank you," Tian Zi conveyed in relief. Actually, he felt so nervous talking to his eldest brother unlike before but now he felt relieved that he was going to help him even though he didn't have to. He's prepared to do anything even if he'd have to put his life on the line for Fyre and it's a huge relief his brother was supporting him.

"As I said, you don't need to thank me. I would choose to help my family over anything else at any time," Laotian said helplessly and when Tian Zi heard him, he couldn't help but smile softly.

"Still, thank you... I know this wouldn't be easy even for you." Tian Zi replied instantly making Laotian scuffed in amusement. 'Won't be easy?' Laotian repeated in his mind before he raised his eyebrow towards the young Alpha. The only reason why this seemed to be difficult for him was because it would be troublesome to meet with the new secretary if ever he had to change the current one. Every time their political term ends, this kind of thing is always a bother since they have to make sure the one sitting in the position knows what he needs and does not need to do and at the same time, he had to make sure the person stepping down from the position would keep all the transaction he had with him to his grave. Otherwise, he's going to force him to take it there.

"*scuffs* It won't be that difficult to get rid of one insignificant politician, who do you think I am?" Laotian asked arrogantly. He basically ran the whole nation's economy with his business and the only reason it's still thriving was because he wasn't rotten to the core and he still cared about the people in the country. If he was corrupt like others, he would have colluded with the rotten politicians and sucked the nation dry but instead he didn't. He still paid his taxes properly and donated a lot in both charities and the government to help the state improve more.

"True, even the president of the state might have to think twice—thrice even— before deciding to make you their enemy. Even then, they'd have to have an insane amount of support to be able to pull it off," Tian Zi laughed as he said, which made Laotian nod in agreement.

"And someday, you should also aim for this position so you can protect your family through your own power," Laotian said and that really inspired Tian Zi to do better.

"Yeah, I will. Thank you."

"Hmmm, now that all that is done. Why don't we all end this and call it a day. Didn't you say Fyre wasn't feeling well today?" Laotian said and the moment Tian Zi heard him say Fyre's name for the first time, his eyes widened because he didn't know his Eldest brother knew his lover's name all this time but he actually knows it.

"Yeah. Let's do that," Tian Zi replied with another smile which was, just like Laotian himself, a very rare occurrence so even for Laotian he was stunned for a bit because this was the second time already even though it was only for a moment. He wondered if Hanlu had ever seen their youngest smile like that… Laotian was already planning to ask him when he had time.

Walking out of the room, Daniel and Fyre were the only ones left in the living room talking to each other. When they saw the two Alphas walking out of the study room, their faces brightened almost instantly before both stood up to meet them halfway.

"Oh, are you two done with your talk?" Daniel asked, grabbing his husband's strong arms.

"Hmmm... Did the kids already go up?"

"Yeah, it's already past their bedtime," Daniel replied. Meanwhile, Fyre also asked Tian Zi about how his conversation with his older brother went and Tian Zi replied that it went well, making Fyre smile in relief.

"It's late, we should probably also go now since I've finished my talk with Eldest brother." Tian Zi soon decided to excuse themself since it was indeed already late and it was time for all of them to rest.

"Aww, that's too bad but I understand, I heard Fyre wasn't feeling good today as well so it's better to rest early."

"Thank you for understanding. We'll surely visit again some other time." Fyre replied. After the short farewell, Daniel and Laotian send Fyre and Tian Zi off and it was only when they couldn't see the couple's vehicle anymore that they decided it was finally time to go back and sleep as well.
