The Discussion

Jamie ordered the maids to get me a bowl of soup and some painkillers because my head was throbbing.

"How are you feeling today, Ephreona?" The king asked me. "I think I'm getting better. But I know the dream I had was very terrible but I just can't remember and I'm not one that easily forgets dreams."

"Well, maybe this is one of the few you forget. Don't think too much about it. We thought you were going to die because of the way you were shaking on the bed. So, we called Xavier. He's on his way here." Jamie said.

"And what business does Xavier have here? The dude will do everything to make sure I die and here you are calling him. I'm sure he's coming to witness how I died and to rejoice." I scoffed.

"He doesn't hate you as you think. It's just that, he's changed. He's no longer the old Xavier we all used to know. Things happen." The king said in a sad and almost guilty tone. It was as if the king knew my next question, so he continued, "but that's not our story to tell, it's his."

Just then, a guard came in saying Xavier had arrived and was on his way here. Within thirty seconds, he appeared at the door with messy hair and his clothes looked torn. He looked so attractive in the dirty clothes. His body was like that of a model who jumped out of a magazine.

"Are you alright? Do you remember anything from your dream? I was scared. I thought something happened to you." Xavier said while he grabbed my face harshly.

For a moment, I thought he cared about me until I heard him speak again. "At least, I wanted to be the first one to witness your death. So, I came to check if you're okay then save your death for next time." Everyone in the room glared at him and he just shrugged, hit my head, and walked out of the room. This guy was just so annoying! They ordered a meeting but he asked Senah to stay with me. So, I sat in bed, wrapped in my sister's arms.

Third Person's P.O.V.

Far down the hall, The king, James, and his queen, Jamie with their sons had gathered to have the meeting. The boys except their parents were confused about the agenda of the unexpected meeting.

"We're gathered here as a family to discuss the dream Ephreona had." The king began. Xavier and Brandon were exchanging looks. "I don't know how. But she was able to dream about the past. She dreamt about us. The day… the day, I made…" The king trailed off as if the memory caused him great pain and regret.

If Xavier was angry or sad, his face could not show because he had his signature face on. "From what I know, only mates exchange memories. It was as if the other person wanted the other to know or the other person couldn't control his emotions and it ended up in his mate's dream. It means that Ephreona is the mate of one of you here. We all know my mate is my beautiful queen here." Jamie smiled at him.

"She's my mate," Xavier said with an unreadable expression. Jamie's eyes widened while Brandon and the king seemed unfazed. "How long have you known now?" Jamie asked him.

"Since the time I met her. But I didn't really know if she was my mate. I wasn't sure if it was because I found her attractive or if she was my mate. But it was at the ball, I was sure and I realized I actually didn't find her attractive. It was the bond. I just want to get rid of her and cut this bond." Xavier replied to his mother coolly.

"Okay. Fine then. If you don't like her as you say, why did you make her dream of your past?" Jamie questioned again. Brandon had long made himself comfortable on a sofa and even gotten popcorn for himself as he watched his family conversing.

"Well… it was a mistake. I went for a hunt and my emotions got the best of me and I felt the energy leave my body and then by the time I realized what had happened, it was too late. My thoughts had already projected themselves in her dreams. I was even on my way here before I received a call from you guys. But, what did you do for her to forget the dream?" Xavier asked.

"Brandon poured a bit of his potion on her and then she forgot." The king told him.

"Wait… when I entered, I saw Senah sitting there. Does it mean she saw what you guys put on her sister?" Xavier asked.

"Yes, she did. She knows what we are. I told her because she's my mate and I can't lie to her about anything. I knew if I kept it away from her, she wouldn't forgive me." Brandon replied to his brother.

Xavier knew Brandon had referred to him because the next moment, he grabbed his younger brother's shirt. "You don't tell me what to do with my mate!" Xavier hissed at him and let him go.

"I just remembered something. From now, Ephreona's going to sleep in my room. I want to make sure she doesn't do anything stupid. Besides, that stupid father of hers, I have a bad feeling about him. He threatened me today and said he would do anything to get her back. She has something important he has to retrieve."

"That man… we need to do something about him but Ephreona also saw him at the ball and she wants to meet him. She cried a lot. It would break her when she finds out he's alive. Brandon told me you told him that her mother offered herself to the zombies because she thought she couldn't live another day without the love of her life. Hmm… if only she knew she wasn't his true mate but she just bore children for him. Well, we'll find another time to deal with her father."

"If this meeting is ending then, I am sure you've all agreed that Ephreona is staying in my room," Xavier said. "Well, it's not even like I would've listened to you guys either."
