Chapter 17 : Archery , Cheerleading , Fashion and design
Weeks passed and turned into months Julie gradually got used to the creepy academy , she forgot all the things that deeply hurt her that night but not entirely . The academy had after class activities that all students had to pick one , Julie picked archery , Jane cheerleading and Sylvia Fashion and design .
On the first day of Julie's archery club she was nervous since she knew nothing about it but she did want to try it out .
When she stepped in the practice ground a fat girl came running and stood in front of her , " Hi my name is Maribel and I guess you're Damien... I mean Julie Damien " She corrected herself with a smile . " Yes I am " Julie replied with a small bow .
She handed over the uniform to Julie and gave her the instructions needed before she left . Julie stared at the fat girls back that disappeared among the crowd of boys and girls already in their uniforms .
After half an hour three mentors stepped in the air around suddenly turned grave and dark , the chattering of students died down at a maximum speed and was replaced by whispers . The aura around the trio was scary and demanded respect , They walked with their heads held high pridefully with authority still holding expressionless faces . They took their seats on the right side of the field close to the bull's eye boards , two men sat on either sides of the woman in the middle .
" Students formation " one of the mentors ordered with an authorized tone and soon the students were in five lines shouting " Formation complete ! Mentor Gill " , he nodded and then the woman mentor said " Soon to be archers go pick your weapons quickly before I throw you out " Mentor Tang warned .
The students went to pick their bows and arrows on the tables on the left side of the field , the students pushed and pulled each other just to get a hold of the impressive ones .
Julie was the last one to pick when her brown eyes fell upon a dull silver coloured bow and arrows , a phoenix was curved on the bow with multiple flowers on the arrows though it looked dull and old Julie felt a connection to it but when she touched it her eyes flickered her eyes holding silver freckles in them . The bow and arrows also held the same colour but still dull no one noticed the change and neither did Julie , when she blinked the silver glint disappeared and so did the bow's dull light .
" Students what you hold now is not only a weapon but a companion , a friend and the only thing that will help you in your grades if you fail here you will undoubtedly repeat your class so ace this and you'll be safe fail you repeat your current class next year but if you feel like you wanna back out the door is pathetically open " Mentor Gibthorn laid out the option lazily staring at the student who were now doubtful of their choices .
After a few seconds out of thirty students fifteen were the only ones left the rest had backed out .
The mentor's expressions didn't change since they expected this anyway , the day ended with instructions and rules they must follow .
in the evening Julie met with her friends under one of the cherry blossom trees behind their dormitory , they sat on the polished bench under the tree where the blossoms fell quietly once in a while .
" Guys you can not believe what happened to me today " Jane stated excitedly , " what happened ? " Sylvia asked curiously while Julie was stared at the cherry blossom since she had never seen one before , the wind gently blew a few strands of her hair and the petals too away , one petal fell on her lap . She stared at it before picking it up and smelling it , holding it gently she slipped it in her pocket .
" Really you are a cheer captain now ? " Sylvia asked in disbelief since for all the years she has been here in this academy Jade was always the cheer captain . " Yes !!! the coach picked me .... all the training and smiling I had done it payed off . Jade was mad but what's done was done since she missed practice for a number of days and so I took her place and became cheer captain Max is really proud " Jane explained with dreamy eyes .
Sylvia shook her head " lucky you because my day was exhausting , we are gonna have a fashion show soon and so we have to design an outfit that is elegant but still simply a bit dull and active " .
" Why do I feel like that is more like a riddle than a sentence ? " Jane questioned , " Everybody thought so but Miss Donna was having none of it " .
" Sorry to hear that but your challenging day and days to come because my day was fine after so many days of not knowing what to do I finally decided to be in the archery class " Julie said happily .
" Well at least you two are happy I still don't have a model for my outfit in the fashion show " Sylvia frowned in deep thought . " Ooh ! don't worry too much about it Julie can be your model I would have love to be but I got a lot of stuff going on so I can't " Jane explained with a sad smile .
" Me ? no freaking way am I doing that ... I know nothing about fashion and cat walks or modelling " Julie shook her head in denial .
Julie shook her head at the thought of walking in a designed outfit Infront of every student and teacher at the academy . " Julie !!! please help us out , help Sylvia out " Jane begged on behalf , after minutes of begging and pleading Julie finally agreed stiffly .
After spending some time with each other under the cherry blossom the three girls left and headed to their rooms .
Meanwhile in one of the empty hallways voices of people in an argument were heard ....
" Do you like her ? tell me right now !!! do you like that stupid bitch ? " Jade spoke in rage filled eyes . " What if I do ? will you kill her just like the other poor innocent girls " Max questioned his blue eyes calmly staring at her . " Listen to me you royal brat am not you doll for you to use and dump later , you were nothing before I put you together like a broken vase and I can break you " Jade said in a displeased look in his eyes .
" Go ahead break me ! but let me remind you who made who here " Max stated his blue eyes glowing in the dark with a dangerous threat in them .
