Chapter 9: That Accident Three Years Ago

(Alexander's POV)

Another call came in after I ended the call with my grandfather. As I look at it, it's the private investigator that I hired to look for that lady who saved me three years ago. "Any updates about the accident?"

"We got some leads, sir. We finally managed to get the CCTV footage on that street on the day you had your accident. It's a bit hard to get that footage since that area was quite remote. According to the footage, before the ambulance came, a girl came to rescue you with a middle-aged man. We are guessing that he was a driver because of his uniform. We didn't manage to get a clear image of that girl due to the weather on that day. However, we are sure that she is a doctor in City A."

"A doctor?" Curiosity filled my head as I listened to him. 'What a nice coincidence. I got saved by a doctor.'

"Yes sir. Based on the way she handled your injuries, we can confirm that she's a doctor. Her way of doing emergency treatment was very similar to the practices of the doctors in City A."

My eyes narrowed as I listened to his report. City A's doctors are quite different from the other doctors. They have this unique way of treating their patients during emergencies that results in a 97% rate of survival. Many other countries have tried to imitate that unique practice. However, they failed.

When I was still pursuing my Master's Degree in Business Administration in City A, I learned a few things about their medical field. Only the doctors in City A can learn the practice. It's kind of passing down knowledge to their students. You will learn those things once you're already on your residency in the hospital. I had a few colleagues who were medical students. That's where I got that news from.

It's kind of weird in some sense. However, this is one of the reasons why City A is famous for its medical field. "Send me the footage. I'll check it out myself. Look for that driver as well. I'm sure his car had a dashcam and that lady must have been captured in it."

"Copy that sir" And the call ended. My thoughts drifted to that day of my accident where I met that lady with amber eyes.

Flashback...

It's a chilling winter night. The streets were covered with layers of snow as I maneuvered my car on the road. Snow is still falling from the sky, which makes the road a bit slippery.

If it wasn't for that business conference, I wouldn't be here driving. I'm currently in City A attending a business conference. Lu Corporation is planning to enter the medical field, so it is necessary for me to attend this.

As I slowed down my pace, a call came through. "Hello?"

"Brat, where are you? I'm here in the office but your secretary told me that you went on a business trip."

The car came to a stop as the traffic light turned red. "I'm in City A, grandfather. I already told you about my plan for the Lu Corporation to enter the medical field before."

"Yes, but I thought you were going to pursue that plan next year."

"Well, there's a change in plan. City A is currently looking for investors for their newly developed stem-cell therapy machine. Many companies are vying for that machine, so I came here to have a look to see if it's a good deal or not."

The light went green and I continued driving. "I might be staying here in the City for a couple of weeks, grandfather. I'm going to meet an old friend of mine next week."

"What?! You're extending?! Why don't you meet that friend of yours this week so that you can come back here immediately?"

A deep sigh escaped my lips. "I can't simply move it. He is a doctor here in City A, so he is quite busy. He would be a great help for our company when we enter the medical business, so I need to meet him."

If I could see my grandfather's face right now, I know he is frowning just based on what his tone is. "Since when do you care about other people's time? I know you, Alexander. You don't have the patience to wait, so find another excuse."

A low chuckle came out. "It's the truth grandfather. You met him already before when you visited me here in City A. Remember Parker? That boy who used to make herbal teas for you. He is currently a famous doctor here in City A."

"Parker?... Do you mean Parker Thomas? It's been years since I haven't heard anything from him. I thought you lost contact with him?"

"He contacted me a few weeks ago. He needed my help for a certain case, so I sent him our best lawyer to handle the case. I have a bit of power and connections here in City A, so it would not be that hard to win the case. I think it's about a malpractice issue. I'm not quite sure about the details yet."

"Malpractice issue? Is it about him?"

"No, it's not about him. It's about his colleague doing the malpractice. He wanted to sue that doctor but he didn't want his name to be involved in it. It would damage his career if he became a whistleblower, so I helped him. It's not that hard anyway. So, we will meet next week to discuss the details of my plans for our medical business. Enough with it, is there a problem in the company? It's a bit unusual for you to call me."

The snow falls harder in the sky. It's getting harder for me to get forward on the streets with this heavy snow piling up. The street lamps on this road are not bright enough for me to see the road. I was about to steer the wheel of the car on the side of the road to stop when, suddenly, a very bright light came towards me.

Before I knew it, a huge truck suddenly rammed my car. I could feel the car roll over several times, shards of glass from the broken windows scattered all over the place. My head made contact with the cement ground not a moment later and blood is currently pouring out of my head. I can feel I'm about to pass out any moment later, since my consciousness is slowly slipping away.

When I was about to close my eyes and wait for death, something suddenly entered my eyes. It was a woman coming towards me. I gathered my little strength and muttered the words that I didn't know would ever come out of my mouth. "Please help me."

Not a moment later, I felt someone pulling me out of the car carefully. I tried opening my eyes to see the person but it was all blurry. All I can see is her amber eyes that shine brightly while looking at me. She gently tapped my face as she moved closer. "You'll be fine. I promise you that I will save you no matter what happens. You'll gonna be okay"

I tried to open my eyes again to see the face behind the voice but I lost consciousness.

**********

I woke up to the pungent smell of hospital disinfectant, invading my nostrils. The room was silent apart from my heavy breathing and the sound of the heart monitor you often hear in hospitals. I slowly opened my eyes, squinting in an attempt to sharpen the blurred images before me. I glanced around and took in the deserted, blue, and white-colored schemed hospital bedroom.

'How long have I been here?' The door of the room opened and Secretary Lin entered. "Sir, you're awake! Good thing you are awake! Wait, let me call the doctor first."

He went out of the door to call the doctor. After a few minutes, the door opened once again. Secretary Lin entered with a few doctors and nurses following alongside him. The doctor went over and did a thorough check on my body.

After a few minutes of inspection, the doctor left when he confirmed that my body was fine. I looked ahead at Secretary Lin who was standing near me. "How long have I been here?"

"You've been confined here for a month sir. Luckily you woke up. Your grandfather wanted to stay here, but the company was in chaos since the news spread that you'd been in an accident, so he needed to step in. He visited you last week and left when the doctor gave him assurance about your condition."

'That long? What happened?' Secretary Lin saw the changes in my expression as he hurriedly explained everything.

"Sir, you had an accident on your way to the conference. Fortunately, your injuries were taken care of and the ambulance came right away. The doctor said that if your injuries weren't treated on time, your legs will have a harder time recovering."

I glanced at my legs and saw that they were full of bandages. 'Right, my legs were deeply stuck in the car during the accident, no wonder.'

"If I remember correctly, that road was quite remote, so how did the ambulance find me right away?"

"According to the report, the voice sounded like a middle-aged man who called the ambulance but they also heard a girl's voice in the background. However, as the ambulance arrived at the scene, they only found you lying on the side of the streets along with this heart-shaped necklace. Your legs were given first-aid treatment already, so it was easier for the ambulance to rush you here to the hospital."

'So, that wasn't a dream. It's a girl who really saved me.'Silence filled the room. I closed my eyes and remembered the voice that sounded like an angel. With her honeyed and modulated tone, it brought me to peace at that time.

This kind of feeling has never happened to me before. No woman has ever made me feel that kind of comfort. I need to find her. I grabbed the necklace and looked intently at it. "Find her. You need to find her as soon as possible. You can monopolize all our men to find her."

Secretary Lin nodded his head. "Noted sir"

End of Flashback...

It's been three years since I've been looking for her. And finally, I got some leads after three years. This is the first step. I will find her no matter what it takes.
