Chapter 1

Amelia's P.O.V

I'm in the plane now very scared sitting by the window looking out in the opening, with my best friend sitting by me very nervous about a new country to start a new life without our parents. We haven't left our country our homeland Spain where we were born and this is our first time being alone with no adult supervision.  Well my name is Amelia Cruz a seventeen-year-old girl leaving her  country to look for a better life for her  parents and little brothers. You see my family lives in the poorest part of Spain, my mom is only a waitress working 16-17 hours a day to provide for us. My dad is only a shoe maker and doesn't earn much. I have three younger brother who look up to me, so this decision is what was best for us. I know I'm a minor but we need a better life and I'm going to make it happen. My best friend Kathy is also in the same situation but her dad left her mom for another woman when he became rich leaving her and her mom to cater for themselves.

  Our plane just landed and we are on way to check out, wow this place is big, everyone is busy here, I hope we don't get missing in this country. We arrived in New York at 6 pm, once we were done checking out we made our way to the arrival hall. We saw a woman holding our names on a sign board waiting for us, "that must be her", Kay said holding her duffle bag which looks like it would be ripped any moment from now.

    "Hello you must be Miss Mendes"I said in my Spainish accent,

  "Yes I am, you guys must be Laura and Kehlani Jose?", She said and we both nodded, we had to make a fake ID in order to get the job offering, it was illegal for a minor to work in a night club. "You guys look so young to be 20 years. And you said you are twins" she said looking us with doubt.

"We are fraternal that why we don't look alike and yes we are really 20 years" I replied politely , she only nodded and clapped her hands, two guards came to us asking for our luggages I mean our duffle bags and  sent  them outside, to the car I think. "Follow me" Miss Mendes said and walked out we also did same.

  New York is very beautiful as people say it. "You can get in the car , we will discuss everything inside"  Miss Mendes said pointing to the red limousine. When the door was open for us ,my jaw nearly dropped, I'm sure Kathy had the same reaction, the inside is beautiful . I am sure one item can be my mom's salary for the year.

As we drove through the city of New York I was amazed, people were busy walking fast trying to get their homes on time. The advertisement on the buildings are on a different leave.

  "You'll be leaving with me and my husband, you are going to be waitresses, you'll serve the people assigned to you. You'll work from 8:30 - 11:00 pm. Under no circumstances should you do what you are not supposed to do" she says sternly. Kathy and I looks at each other and we nod, " Laura" she points at Kathy,"you'll be serving downstairs. Kehlani"she says pointing at me, " you'll be serving the private rooms. Don't be decieved by anybody" she says again and I only nod. I didn't miss the frown on Kathy's face, it is no news she  has jealousy issues but I don't mind.

What I didn't know was that jealousy would ruined my life.......
