First and firsts

"Here it is only a field of poppies,

She jumped over a heap and didn't get clean across as her foot got caught in a web of vines, she missed a step and fell in a bed of flowers.

Deep throaty laughter sounded from behind her and she too laughed at her folly.

"I told you not to. Now see." his voice was familiar and even without turning her head to see, she didn't have to try hard to know it was him, again.

"One should be playful sometimes. " Still lying sideways flat to the ground, she struggled with the hold of tangled vines on her feet.

"Have fun but safe fun"

" Nothing with you is ever safe. You won't even say sorry" she sulked.

" Sorry my love. At least you won't fall alone." Falling into another flower bed beside where she laid laughing. " The odds are equal now. Am I forgiven? " His hand reaches for hers, between them turf of tall grasses and she didn't see him.
