Love And Deceit

The princess's eyes searched for the source of the pull she felt.

She ran her drooping gaze over the patrons of the bar, searching for someone she knew was there. She didn't really know who it was... but what she did know, was that it was someone important.

At least to her.

She ran her gaze once more over the crowded bar but it was hard to distinguish anyone in the dim lighting, especially the people crowded over the dance floor.

She sighed, running a hand through her hair. Her head throbbed from the loud music blaring from the speakers and her eyes couldn't concentrate on anything for more than a few seconds.

She really shouldn't have drunk so much. One would have thought being a Vampire would reduce the effects of alcohol. Honestly, that was what she had thought when she ordered drink after drink and chugged it down in a couple gulps.

Suddenly remembering about the friend she was here with, she frowned. Where did Eleanora go? She had been with her at the bar just a little while ago. She looked around again to see if she could spot her but she didn't see anyone with her mop of gorgeous golden brown hair.

Oh God, she thought. Eleanora was her responsibility since she was the one that convinced her to sneak out of the castle and it was just the two of them at the club, noone else knowing their location, or even that they were out.

All of a sudden, she remembered and face palmed herself. How could she forget. Eleanora had walked away a few minutes ago with a dashing man their age and she had an idea about what her and that man might be doing at that given moment. She grinned, shaking her head.

Yet here she was, sitting alone at the bar, drinking her sorrows away like a old and boring prude.

At the same time, she realized that if she couldn't even remember for a moment about her friend leaving, then she was way more drunk than she had initially thought.

Oh well, now that she was already quite thoroughly drunk... She waved her hand in front of the bartender's face.

"Get me another one of those fruity drinks." She slurred out.

The bartender's eyebrows rose as he looked at the empty glasses in front of her, but obliged all the same. He put the glass in front of her and eyed her ludicrously.

She knew she looked ravishing in her super short black dress and makeup, with golden hair open and cascading down her back.

She gave him a grin and, snatching the drink from the counter in front of which she sat, she swigged it in a single gulp and slammed it back on the counter.

Looking at that drink, one might have assumed it would be harmless. After all, what could a bright pink drink do?

Even it's taste was deceiving, sweet with just a hint of sourness. But now that she'd drunk, what? Four glasses? Five? She didn't quite remember, but the drink had definitely taken its effect on her.

She got up from the stool and swaying a little, made her way towards the dance floor. She pushed through the mass of people, not bothering to mutter apologies in her wasted state, and stumbled towards the centre of the dance floor.

The pull she felt to something... or someone, was just a dull throb in her chest now, and she could have easily mistaken it as the effect of the loud music. And she did. She blamed the music for it, not even trying to make her drunken brain comprehend or contemplate it.

She stood in the middle of the dancing vampires for a few moments, her eyes closed, letting the music relax her and take away all her thoughts and worries.

She pulled her hands up her body, to her head and letting them stay there, gave herself completely over to the music.

In no time, she was moving with the rhythm of the music, her steps and moves in perfect tempo in the midst of the people.

She danced and danced and danced, not caring how much time passed or about the fact that she'd snuck out of the castle in the middle of the night, or that someone would find out she'd snuck out.

She swayed with the bodies around her, not bothering to answer the men that came and tried to lure her out of the bar, and somewhere private. She simply ignored them until they went away after a few caresses and tries to kiss and woo her. She didn't even bother looking at them, her eyes above their heads and a flirtatious smile on her face.

When a pair of warm and muscular arms wrapped around her waist from behind, she should have ignored them too.

But she didn't.

Because there was something different about them. A lot different.

Sparks ignited on her skin where he touched and a feeling overcame her suddenly. The feeling of coming home. She automatically leaned into the welcoming warmth of his arms, for they felt like heaven itself. Like they were meant for her and her alone.

There was the same pull on her chest, this time undeniable. For a moment, she thought it was Darian. That he had found out she escaped from the castle and following her scent, tracked her here.

But she was proved wrong by the husky whisper by her ear, for it was far different from Darian's voice.

"We finally meet." He drawled, his hot breath fanning her neck and ear, making goosebumps rise on her skin while his nose skimmed her skin. "You have no idea how long I've been waiting..."
