Chapter 31

2:59 am. Riley still couldn't sleep. she kept wondering what was going to happen next from here. a lot has happened in her life now what next? her father is alive and has been ok. how did he survive and how come mom didn't? how come she never knew about her biological mom? why didn't they ever tell her? the 16 years of her life were filled with lies.

first, her mother wasn't her real mother. her father happens to be a scientist. he was the one who made her this way and her both parents told her that she was born like this. come to think of it. her mother knew all along what her father was doing and assisted with the lies. Riley grew furious in her bed. the normal her would have lost control of herself and used her power but she didn't. Aiden taught her to be calm in situations like this. Riley sat up, with legs crossed like she was meditating. she took a deep breath, in and out, in and out, until she was finally calm.

Suddenly, she heard a noise coming from the seating room " who is that " whispering to herself with her eyes on the door. she heard it again. Riley push the sheet off her body and got off the bed. she walked out of her room, closing the door behind her quietly so she won't call any attention. walking past the hallway, she got to the entrance to the seating room and peeped. her behaviour reminded her of the very first day was taken by Dr

She watched her father quietly. he dropped his white coat on the sofa and made his way to the kitchen. Riley debated to herself whether she should go talk to him or not. she flashed back to the old days.

when every he returns from his many businesses trips, Riley always stayed up waiting for him. and no matter how tired he was, he would still watch a movie with her and prepare his special Omelette. she missed him so much but things are charged now. she ignored her father and went back to her room. St her surprise she fell asleep immediately

the loud Alarm Clock woke Riley up from her deep sleep. " Fuck " jumping out of her bed in panic as looking around the room and realization hit her. it was the alarm on the table on the other side of the bed " Fucking alarm clock " she cursed, grabbing the pillow on the bed and throwing it at the clock. it hit the ground and stopped. " who the fuck put this alarm " she walked around the bed to where the clock and the pillow fell. "7 am?" she was confused. the room was dark and why did it feel like she had only taken a nap? maybe it was because she sleep late and because the house was inside the mountain, there was no sign of the sun rising " Damn it " scratching her messy hair " I am tired ".

she reluctantly went to the bathroom to pee after that she stood in front of the bathroom mirror. her hair was messy. she brushes her teeth and rinses her face. using the wet hand to straighten her hair. Riley walked out of the bathroom and crashed into her bed

she heard a noise coming from the outside. " that must be Dad " to herself. the moment she opened her door a wonderful aroma hit her. " Dad is cooking?" she made her way to the seating room, the aroma grew stronger and it smells so familiar. she walked into the kitchen quietly just to find her father cooking. and fun memories hit her again.

" oh, Princess. did I wake you?" holding a frying pan and a spatula,

" what are you cooking?" looking with full interest

" Oh," she watches him use the spatula to lift a deliciously looking omelette and place it perfectly on the plate on the table " my special omelette" he announced. Riley's heart stopped for a second and in a minute tears ran down her cheek

" oh my God princess " he dropped everything on the table and went to her. immediately he got to her, Riley pulled him for a hug

" I missed you Dad. I honestly did " she cried into his arms. " I am angry. very angry with you Dad. I am angry that you left me " she cried " and I want to hate you so much but just can't, I can't bring myself to "

" I am sorry princess. I am so sorry that I left you when you need me the most " hugging her warmly " I want to make it right. " he pulled away " I want us to move on together " looking her in the eyes

" We can't just move on" she spoke sadly " things are charged now. everything is different

" then let's start over. me and you " smiling

" that can't work. it will take me sometime" she spoke with honesty

" I know " he pulled her in for another hug " I will wait "

" you will?"

" yes. no matter how long it takes " he then pulled her away " now. It's time to eat " she smiled brightly at him

they both ate quietly not knowing what to say to the other. it was becoming awkward and Wilson had to break the silence " so what do you plan to do today "

" I don't know " she shrugged focusing on her food

" what do you do on a normal day " with his eyebrow raised

" Normally, just try to survive school, get home, watch TV, do my homework, read a book, watch TV again and go to bed " she listed her daily routine " I don't have school anymore, no TV, no homework. just going to sleep through the day "

" you can come with me. I will show you around so you will get to see what I am working on "

" not interested" she gave a fake smile. Wilson stared at her as she eats

" and also we will be running a few tests on Aiden " Riley stopped the moment she heard Aiden's name

" on second thought, I will love to see what you are working on. I am certain that it will be something exciting

" you said you weren't interested" with an eyebrow raised

" I am. I love science" with an excited tone

" ok then " he agreed and Riley smiled brightly

the kitchen was taken by silence. Riley wanted to tell him something but didn't know how to start. they both finished eating and Riley sat quietly watching her father clean the place up

" you said I can protect people with my power. right " breaking the silence. His father turned around slowly with full interest in his eyes

" yes you can "

" then I want to do it. I want to protect people. I want people to love me for who I am and see that I am not a witch. "

" Really?" he sat down wanting her to repeat what she said to be sure that he wasn't hearing wrongly

" I said I want to use my power. you will help me. right?"

" yes, honey. yes I would" he was so excited
