Alex POV:
I closed the documents, the soft rustle of the papers echoing through the silence. I sighed, my breath whispering secrets to the shadows. "Fate has bound me to this boy's destiny," I murmured. "Mr. Martin, your legacy is a weight I now carry."
My eyes narrowed, focusing on the whispers of the past. "Mr. Lewis's ambition was a web of deceit, but I will weave a new tapestry, one of protection and strength."
I stood up, my movements fluid as a summer breeze. "If our paths cross again, Martin, only one of us will walk away."
"I never chose to be a guardian, but fate has ordained it so," I whispered, my eyes closing like petals of a flower.
First-person POV:
The camera pans across the document, the words dancing like stars in the night sky: "When a family chooses a protector for their child, the weight of responsibility falls upon them like a mantle. And the chosen one must honor the family's last wish, no matter the cost."
As we stepped out of the hotel, Lydian turned to me with a radiant smile. "See you in the city then, Alex. I hope you will start allowing me to enter freely in Grande's groups."
I nodded, my eyes locking onto hers. "Yes, I will, Lydian. You will find no barriers between us."
She entered her Lamborghini, its engine purring like a contented beast as it drove away. I settled into the Rolls-Royce, the leather seats cradling me like a summer cloud.
"Rhino, gather our things. We depart for the city, with Lyla by our side," I said, my voice a gentle command.
"Consider it done, boss," he replied, his voice a deep bass note as he left.
I dialed Jenny's number, the phone ringing softly in my ear. She answered, her voice a sweet serenade. "Good morning, Alex. How was your night?"
"It was a canvas of stars, Jenny," I replied, my voice a gentle breeze. "And yours?"
"It was a gentle whisper of dreams," she said, her tone a soft melody. "What's on your agenda today?"
"I'm leaving for the city today, Jenny. The winds of fate are calling me," I said, my voice a calm ocean wave. "I won't be able to shop with you this week, I have a lot of things to deal with."
"I understand," she said, her voice a soft lullaby. "Safe journey, Alex."
"Thank you, Jenny." I replied, my voice cold and detached.
I ended the call, the phone slipping into my pocket like a secret kept. Lyla and Rhino joined me, their faces set with determination, like two warriors ready to face the day's challenges. The luggage was stowed, and the Rolls-Royce glided into motion, a smooth, silent journey into the heart of the city.
I arrived in the city under the veil of darkness, the clock striking 2am like a solitary bell. The Rolls-Royce purred softly as we glided through the deserted streets, finally coming to rest at my villa around 5am. I stepped out into the crisp morning air, the dew-kissed grass beneath my feet like a refreshing whisper.
Entering the house, I was enveloped in the warm scent of freshly brewed coffee and the soft hum of quiet activity. I washed up and changed into another suit, the fabric smooth against my skin like a gentle caress.
Emerging from my room, I found breakfast already laid out, the golden light of dawn casting a warm glow over the scene. Mrs. Qilin smiled, her eyes like two bright stars in the morning light. "Young Master, you don't have to go to work today. Please take a rest; you've just returned from travel, and your body needs rest."
I sat down to eat, my voice calm and detached. "I can't rest, Mrs. Qilin. My mind is consumed by thoughts, and I won't find peace until they're resolved."
Mrs. Qilin's expression turned concerned, her brow furrowed like a gentle wave. "Okay, but don't stress yourself too much."
I nodded, my tone unruffled. "I won't. How's Jack's progression in martial arts?"
Mrs. Qilin's face brightened, her smile like a sunrise. "It's going well. He's learning fast, and I'm sure he'll excel in a month's time."
I nodded, my attention already drifting back to my thoughts, and returned to eating.
Mrs. Qilin's POV:
As I watched Alex, my thoughts weren't about the young boy, Jack, who was thriving under our care. My concern was Alex, whose heart seemed to grow harder with each passing day.
I wished for a woman to enter his life, to soften his edges and bring warmth to his soul. But fate seemed reluctant to grant that wish, leaving me to hope that someday, somehow, Alex would find the solace he needed.
