Lydian POV:
I dialed his number, my fingers moving with a mix of anticipation and frustration. The phone rang, each passing moment feeling like an eternity. Finally, he answered, his voice low and detached.
"What do you want, Lydian?" he asked, his tone calm and heartless.
I sighed, trying to keep my emotions in check. "When will you start liking my calls?"
He evaded the question, his voice firm. "Why are you calling?"
I laughed, a hint of bitterness creeping into my tone. "You sure know how to avoid questions. Anyway, I wanted to ask if you're in the city."
He cut me off, his words curt. "If that's all, then I'll end the call."
The line went dead, and I couldn't believe he had hung up on me again. "Alex, you need to stop doing this to me," I muttered to myself.
A spark of determination ignited within me. If he had gone to Flakes town for that girl, I needed to take action. I called Posh, my voice firm. "Get the car ready. I'm going to Flakes town tomorrow, and I'm bringing my guards. Prepare them."
"Okay, ma'am," Posh replied, his voice crisp.
I ended the call and turned to Mandy, who was emerging from the kitchen. "I'm going somewhere tomorrow. Make sure my luggage is ready."
Mandy nodded, her eyes wide. "Okay, ma'am."
I nodded, my mind already focused on the journey ahead.
Jenny POV:
As I locked up the restaurant, the cool night air enveloped me, a stark contrast to the warmth of the kitchen. I quickened my pace, sensing someone following me. Suddenly, a hand grasped my wrist, and I spun around, ready to defend myself. But the stranger dodged my blow with ease.
"My boss is looking for you," he said, his voice low and mysterious. "He's waiting in that Rolls-Royce."
I hesitated, unsure of what to do. "What if I say I won't go?"
The stranger's grip tightened. "Then I will forcefully take you there."
I relented, and he released my hand. "Fine, I'll go."
As we approached the Rolls-Royce, I saw Alex inside, his eyes fixed on me. The stranger opened the door, and I stepped in, feeling a sense of trepidation.
Alex ended his call and pressed a button, enveloping us in silence. "I'm here to make a proposal," he said, his voice calm and collected.
I raised an eyebrow. "Go on."
"I want you to marry me in exchange for helping you with your legal issues," he said, his eyes locked on mine.
I laughed, incredulous. "You have a girlfriend and another side chick. I won't be the third one."
Alex leaned forward, his expression serious. "I don't have a girlfriend or a side chick. Lydian is just obsessed with me, and the girl I was with today was my secretary."
I studied him, unsure of what to believe. "Why should I trust you?"
Alex sighed, his shoulders relaxing. "I know I've said things in the past, but I was trying to push you away. I thought it was better if we were further apart."
I raised an eyebrow, skeptical. "And now?"
Alex's eyes locked on mine, his gaze intense. "Now I realize I was wrong. I want you, Jenny. I want to be with you."
I felt a flutter in my chest, but I pushed it aside. "Why pick me?"
Alex smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Because you're different. You draw me to you in a way no one else has."
I hesitated, torn between my doubts and the sincerity in his eyes. "I don't know..."
Alex leaned forward, his voice low and husky. "Please, Jenny. Say yes. I'll give you everything you want."
I looked away, trying to process my thoughts. But as I glanced back at Alex, I saw the genuine desire in his eyes, and my resolve crumbled. "Okay," I said finally. "I'll do it."
Alex smiled, relief washing over his face. He handed me a document and a pen. "Sign this, and we'll seal our agreement."
I read the document, my heart racing with anticipation. This was it – I was committing to marry Alex Grande.
