[17] Heart Of A Holy Crane

[17] Heart Of A Holy Crane

"Everything seems fine, right?" The guard asked.

"We should keep guard here." The woman nodded and then suggested.

"Alright." So, both of them stood in front of the room where Kayra had hidden.

Kayra, who was eavesdropping, was glad that she had successfully avoided two troubles, one escaping from the prison and another hiding from the guards. She turned around and glanced inside curiously.

When she first entered the room, she saw many pillars. On top of those were big round stages where thirty humans could stand.

Many things were on top of those stages and white clothes covered those. She was curious and jumped on a stage that had a small thing. When she moved the cloth aside, her heart went cold.

Inside a big glass jar, a big heart, the size of a human arm was beating furiously. Kayra's fingers shook slightly when she saw the pipes which were providing blood to it. Her eyes fell on the description below.

`Heart of a holy crane. Extremely beneficial for Aves. It can regrow feathers and make them beautiful. Price starts from 200 million Az.`

The system translated it inside her mind.

'Az…' she pondered.

[Imagine, 1 Az = 1 dollar.]

'Damn! So pricey! Who will buy such a thing?' Her eyes twisted as she realized how expensive the heart was. 'Also, a holy crane…'

{In this once-in-a-century auction, only royals and nobles come. So...}

"..." Kayra touched her own heart and felt the rhythm. Then, the words of that researcher from Doctorio Planet came to mind.

Not to say, a handsome man had just assaulted her for some pure blood. She wondered how valuable was her heart.

[Host, do you want to know your worth?]

Phiphi's question successfully drew Cardinal and her attention. Kayra fiddled with her fingers and whispered with pink cheeks, "Yes!"

"Who's there!" The female guard's voice came from outside.

Because Kayra shouted accidentally, the guards outside became alert. They broke into the room. The woman's keen eyes fell on the jar.

The holy crane's heart was beating furiously, and the glass jar was shaking as well. To her, it seemed an accident might happen.

She flew towards it and clicked on a side button. In no time, she injected a yellow liquid into the blood pipe and the heart calmed down a lot.

"You have already lost your body. It's futile to struggle now."

Even though she knew the heart couldn't listen, the woman said disdainfully and then, tugged the white cloth and covered the jar.

The other man stood beside her and scanned the whole room with his scanner but did not find any person. They didn't leave and went to one corner to keep guard. They believed in one quote wholeheartedly.

`Better to be safe than sorry!`

Kayra, who was hiding under a white cloth, shed nonexistent tears as she couldn't come out because of them.

'I am so pitiful!'

{ … }

Phiphi felt it should educate its host as soon as possible and give the authority of using the system's functions to her so that it could go into hibernation soon. Or else, the left behind human emotions in it would be used up soon.

After Kayra was taken away from the corridor near the entrance of the Auction Palace, a figure rushed to the place where she was a while ago.

"Damn it! Where did she run again?!" Prince Bok yelled out angrily.

After finding out that the woman was missing, he sneakily checked the guest mark and was relieved to see that it was still there.

After using his authority as the master of these two tattoos, he used his power to rush here in the least time possible. Yet, all he got was the empty corridor!

Prince Bok knew it was impossible to go out of the palace when the auction was ongoing so he turned around to check in the surrounding area.

'Did the palace's security system catch her?!' He wondered and then frowned, 'How did she run away?! I gave her such potent sleeping drugs…'

While he was deeply thinking if he should take help from the authority of the Auction Palace to catch Kayra, a nearly transparent, thin yet sharp needle flew towards him. The man was oblivious to it and walked towards the main auction hall.

The needle pricked on his neck and a purple substance entered his vessel and colored the skin. Prince Bok frowned and touched his neck. But, soon, his eyes became extremely sleepy and he could no longer stay awake.

Even though he knew something was wrong, at that moment, all he wanted to do was to sleep. Prince Bok slid down and went into sleep mode in the middle of the corridor. The needle twisted and then went beside his pants.

After working on the stitches, the transparent needle bobbed happily on his crotch and went back to the place where Kayra was. Phiphi nodded in satisfaction and went back to Kayra's mind space.

But as soon as it saw the predicament its host was in, it wished to never return yet helped her get out of the prison!

[Such a good system I am~]

Phiphi thought arrogantly while opening a portal in the air for teleportation. After it successfully helped its host, it turned to Cardinal with smugness.

Cardinal, who wasn't very clear with human emotions felt the system turn to him and suddenly swelled up a little.

'Did it overeat energy?' Cardinal had this thought when he saw the round and bubbly system. However, his intuition was telling him not to voice this out or… he would suffer!
