Grand Mountain School Of Martial Arts

On Zephys Island, among the Uhiphre sect, was where you might find the Grand Mountain School of Martial Arts.

The martial arts that were taught at this particular school were distinct from those that were taught in any other school in the globe. As a result of the distinctive nature of these techniques, the school only accepted a small number of carefully chosen students.

The island of Zephys was unusually isolated, both from the other islands and from human contact. In order for the students to avoid having to go to other islands for socialization, they were required to cultivate their own food.

The masters had even gone as far as recruiting a retired imperial designer to construct their uniforms, and every student would receive a new set of clothes once a year. They had improved their own medication for anybody who might fall ill, so that they could cure them inside the island.

Once you entered the island, became one of the pupils, or much better, became a member of the Uhiphre sect, there was no way to escape the island. The only exceptions to this rule were if you graduated from the school or if the masters granted you special permission to depart.

There were four Great Grand Masters who oversaw the school's operations, but only one of them was considered to be of such a higher caliber that he was also in charge of the sect.

"You simply can't let Caleb overcome you." Louie insisted.

"I am aware of it, but I do not have any other options." Calhoun spoke these words as he let out yet another heavy sigh for what seemed like the millionth time in that hour.

"I've heard that when you graduate, you'll be departing the island as soon as possible." As Turner entered the room that the two lads occupied together, he said.

Turner was a young guy of average height and yellow skin tone. He was older than Calhoun and Loiue, yet he was still a close friend of the two of them.

"Where did you get that information?" Loiue inquired. Since they had entered the room, he had not gone anywhere else, and he had not engaged in conversation with anybody else. The same may be said for Calhoun.

"You are aware of how swiftly information spreads around this island." Turner said as he sat on Louie's bed, so occupying the position that was diametrically opposed to that of Calhoun.

"Yes, it is something that is known to us, but how did you find out? Nobody was ever made aware of this!" Louie exclaimed.

"Perhaps the master shared the news with his other masters, and each of those masters, in turn, informed their favorite pupil about it, which is how it likely spread." Turner responded to the question while looking at Louie briefly before shifting his focus to Calhoun.

"I know that Caleb is thrilled with these news, but think about this: you are going to govern a whole kingdom, and maybe he won't manage to ace the great grand master seat, there is nothing to worry about." Turner stated as he offered reassurance to Calhoun by placing his hand on the latter's knee and then taking his hand away from the latter's knee.

Calhoun offered a little nod in response.

Because Turner was aware of how diligently Calhoun had worked over the last several years, the news that he would be returning home with such little notice was troubling to him.

Everything that he had accomplished by toiling at over the last several years was going to be for nothing at this point.

"But why at this time? Why didn't the master have him wait until he had become a martial Duke before releasing him?" Loiue inquired.

At Grand Mountain School, the various forms of martial arts were broken up into seven distinct classes.

Kinght, Baron, Viscount, Earl, Duke, Archduke, Regent.

Where Knight was the lowest rank and title in the school, and Regent was the highest rank and title in the facility.

"I find it amusing that they named the titles after titles held by monarchs." Loiue remarked.

Badges and titles were awarded to those who had worked well to earn them, and the degree of respect one received was directly proportional to the number and kind of badges and titles one had.

Both Knight and Baron were members of the outer disciple group.

Both the Viscount and the Earl were considered to be intermediate disciples.

Duke and Archduke were inner disciples.

Regents, who held the highest position possible and were considered to be very close to the great grand master, were automatically free to leave the island whenever they wished and may also choose to remain on the island as members of the sect.

It was just a matter of points until Calhoun would have earned the title of martial Duke. At the time, he had the rank of martial Earl. Turner was ahead of them due to the fact that he was older than them; thus, he had become a student before them and had succeeded in achieving the title of martial archduke.

On the subject of martial arts, Louie was falling well behind his peers.

"Perhaps it has something to do with the precarious situation the surrounding kingdoms find themselves in. It's possible that you'll be anointed king far sooner than everyone anticipated." Turner stated.

"What exactly do you mean when you say that?" Loiue inquired as he looked at Turner.

"Have you forgotten everything that took place sixteen years ago? When the three sister witches attacked the Empyris Kingdom, which is next to your kingdom?" Turner asked.

"Nobody will ever be able to forget it. Those witches still rule over that kingdom... no one has ever been able to successfully eliminate them and take control of the territories, which is why the country has been a perpetual winter land ever since." After hearing what Loiue had to say, Turner gave him a head nod to indicate his agreement.
