Chapter 19 Bullying the Bullies

-Pokemon Technical Institute-

That's what was written in bold lettering, on the small obelisk in front of the school gates. The school didn't have a futuristic design, instead it was ostentatious brick building filled with a long standing legacy. The building wrapped around a large courtyard at the entrance in an L-shape, with a large clock tower built into the school. Behind the school seemed to be more space and a small park, and to the left of the courtyard was a pool facility. Overall, it seemed to have everything a pokemon school needed on a surface level. But I don't really care about that.

A quick search on my phone and I found out everything I needed to know, a school with a rich history claiming to have and continue to produce top tier trainers. It was one of the schools more focused on rearing trainers, they had some electives like pokemon breeding and some others for more variety. The thing that stood out the most was the large tuition to attend this school, 60k pokedollars a year.

Walking through the gate was pretty easy because I just told the guard that I was here for a tour. I didn't raise any suspicion because of my clothes and appearance, I looked like a rich kid much to my chagrin. Although I was born a noble, I like to think I'm just your everyday legend in the rising. Walking through the shadier parts of the school I soon found my targets, every school has them. Delinquents, a common breed found in schools. They feel superior to others and put others down. They're usually popular for various reasons and others don't want to catch their ire, so they just try to stay on their good side ignoring the victims.

In front of me were 4 students wearing blue school uniforms, and all of them had slicked back hair. Even though they looked like regular students I could tell that they were delinquents, as they were obviously skipping class. My entrance stopped them from whatever they were doing before, and they looked at me like they found a new toy.

Mob Leader, "Look what we have here gentlemen. A street rat dreamer exploring our esteemed school. As distinguished students of this fine institute we should teach him where he belongs, what do you say boys?"

Mob 1, "I think you're right ****" I didn't bother to listen to the leader's name because I knew these 4 were not worth remembering. Grabbing our pokeballs we went to a secret battlefield away from the school. It was pretty basic with various signs of battle in the area. My first opponents were the 3 lackeys, it seems that the leader thought it was beneath him to battle me. Let's see if he has the skills to back up his confidence.

-Three beatdowns later-

The first mob brought out a Poliwhirl, a blue bipedal pokemon with a round body and two bulbous eyes protruding out its head. It has a white belly with a black swirl, and hands that look like gloves. It was a decently high level at 30, but Pidgeotto made quick work of him. He looked devastated that he lost to an outside trainer. The battle wasn't anything worth talking about, I just took a ranged approach until Poliwhirl fainted.

The second mob looked incredibly smug when he brought out his Lvl.30 Raichu, like the world predetermined that he would win. Raichu is a bipedal rodent-like pokemon, covered in dark orange fur with a white belly. It has two bifurcated ears brown on the outside, and yellow on the insides, with a distinctive curl at the end. It has a circular yellow marking on its cheeks, and a long thin tail with a yellow lightning-shaped end.

I didn't switch out Pidgeotto because this was good training against another typing he was weak against. I had Pidgeotto counter his thunderbolts with strong air slashes. There was a stalemate until he ordered Raichu to use Thunder, a strong move I don't think we would be able to block or dodge. Thinking on the spot, I had Pidgeotto use brave bird while Raichu was charging its attack. He obviously hadn't trained his Raichu in that move because a pokemon with mastery over a move can quickly send out attacks. Like that Raichu fainted while Pidgeotto only suffered the backlash of his own attack.

The leader looked more uncomfortable after his second lackey went down. While the third mob sent out a Fearow, Lvl.35. A brown birdlike pokemon with a massive wingspan. It has a long pointed pink beak and a red coxcomb on top of its head stopping before its long neck. I was going to switch out but Pidgeotto had a fierce expression while looking at Fearow. It seems Pidgeotto had some unknown history with a Fearow or Spearow before I found him in the forest. It's common for avian pokemon to have disputes with other species.

What followed was an intense battle in the air, exchange of wing attacks and gusts. The deciding factor was the TM I had taught to Pidgeotto from the shop, double team. Even if it's fake, 6 Pidgeottos burning in a brave bird heading towards you is intimidating. After connecting Pidgeotto crashed Fearow into the ground and secured the win. From those three battles Pidgeotto hit Lvl.39, and was ready to evolve into Pidgeot. However, I had tied an everstone to his foot previously so he wouldn't evolve yet.

I returned Pidgeotto to his pokeball to rest and faced the leader of the delinquents. He was visibly concerned because I had only ever used the same pokemon, but he had a sudden look of enlightenment. "I must say for an outside trainer you're pretty good, but I've figured you out. You only have that Pidgeotto, and that's why you haven't switched into another pokemon. You made a valiant effort but as an elite student I'll show you true prowess."

I just stared at him like looking at an idiot denying reality, while his lackeys had gained back some confidence. After all, if you only train one pokemon of course that would be strong, right? They much rather believe that nonsense than accept they lost because they weren't better trainers. "Now let's end this charade, Nidoking!"

The leader sent out his Nidoking, a large bipedal purple pokemon with reptilian features. It has narrow eyes, large spiny ears, fur-like tufts on its cheeks, and a snout filled with pointed teeth. It has a long horn on its forehead covered in a light layer of poison, and a ridge of spines down its back. Each powerful arm has three claws and a spine at the elbow, while each foot has a hoof-like nail. It has a gray chestplate like armor and a powerful tail. It was definitely strong, sitting at an intimidating Lvl.42, while I could use Zorua and body Nidoking like I did Nidoqueen when I fought team rocket. There is one member who is currently lagging behind her other companions, Milotic.

"You were wrong about me only having one pokemon, I just didn't see a need to use my other pokemon. Let's do this Milotic." Out of her luxury ball she gave a fierce cry with a determined look. Meanwhile I was a little nervous, Milotic is currently only Lvl.25, 17 whole levels lower than our opponent. And while I absolutely feel embarrassed, I'm going to believe in the power of our bond to push beyond the limits of our current level to decimate our opponent.

Meanwhile said opponent was only momentarily surprised at being wrong before a cruel grin appeared on his face. And I knew why, his Nidoking was boosted with various TM's, one of them being thunderbolt. "I may have been wrong in my hypothesis, your little sea snake will never be able to win against my Nidoking. Allow me to show you why we elites are different from the riff raff that you are. Nidoking use thunderbolt!"

Charging electricity from its horn before quickly shooting a bolt towards Milotic. I could feel the power radiating from it as it speedily made its way towards Milotic. "Use Mirror Coat and hang in there!" Instantly she covered her body in a reflective psychic energy as she was assaulted by the powerful bolt of electricity. Although she took the brunt of the attack she managed to power through and fire back Nidoking's attack with twice its power back at it, creating a large explosion destroying the field.

"Impossible Mirror Coat isn't a move Milotic normally knows!" Unfortunately for him I wasn't about to let him have his little breakdown before I gave Milotic her next instruction.

"Milotic Ice beam full power!" It was then that I could feel it, the bond we shared connecting between us. As milotic drew energy from it powering her attack to new levels. Before letting a large blue beam of ice energy with lightning-like arcs surrounding it, towards the stunned Nidoking watching its imminent doom.

"NIDOKING, PROTECT NOW!" In a last ditch effort Nidoking created a blue spherical shield to shield itself from the incoming attack. However, once the attack made contact the protect instantly broke and engulfed him. The battlefield and parts of the area outside the field were covered in ice, creating a winter wonderland. While Nidoking was in his previous spot encased in a large ice structure. There was absolute silence at the scene before everyone, even I was dumbfounded.

Soon after Milotic collapsed with fatigue but she was still conscious, and the ice surrounding Nidoking burst into shimmering ice dust. Once released from the icy prison Nidoking fell, clearly unconscious signifying my win. At the same time the mob leader fell to his knees in disbelief. I returned Milotic to her ball so she could rest. From that battle alone she made a massive jump to Lvl.36. It seems experience gained is dependent on the difficulty of the battle they face, promoting their growth.

I quickly broke out of my thoughts and made my way towards the group that now looked at me with fear. "Now that I've schooled you chumps, how bout you answer some of my questions…"

-Back at the Pokemon Tech courtyard-

After questioning the mobs whose names and faces I don't even remember anymore I found out some interesting information. When I asked them about who the strongest trainers of the school were, I found out about "The Big Three." Which were the three strongest trainers in the institute, who were also 3rd year students. There are 3 grades, and only after you pass each grade can you move onto the next year. The four I fought were all new 3rd year students, which is why they were so cocky. In theory you can be in one grade for a few years before you even go to the next grade, your time at the school depends on how much tuition you can pay.

Normally you wouldn't be able to challenge the Big Three, as this is a school and not a gym. However, Pokemon Tech is special in that regard. For publicity they host televised battles against their strongest students with various famous trainers, the students include the Big Three as well, but I can only challenge one in my challenge. Which is why I'm making my way to the principal's office to make an official match request. The one I'm going to be challenging is obviously the strongest of the Big Three, Irina Azuli.

Apparently she's a battling prodigy in her generation, being the same age as myself. According to rumors throughout the school she has been undefeated throughout her time at Pokemon Tech. I was curious about the other two strongest trainers, but if I can only challenge one then I'll go for the best. Which is why I find myself in front of a secretary at the Principal's office. She told me that I could meet with the Principal in 10 minutes, and offered me some expensive tea while I waited.

Eventually I was led into a sophisticated office, it was filled with various luxuries, but what caught my attention were the numerous trophies on a shelf. The man in question was an older man with neat gray hair with streaks of black, and a maintained short full face beard. He wore an expensive maroon suit, and turned up from the papers he was going over looking at me with a cold expression. "So young man, I've heard you've come to place a challenge request with our top student. I've looked at your information, and gone through the battles you've debuted in. You have some notoriety for being a rising star in the upcoming Indigo League Circuit. So after thinking it over I've decided to accept your request, the battle will be hosted in our battle stadium in the gymnasium, it will be 6 days from now. So take that time to prepare, I don't want our top student to waste her time. You can see yourself out, I am a busy individual."

I was quickly led out by the secretary who wished me luck in my upcoming challenge. While I stood outside in the hallway dumbfounded that I didn't even get to say a word throughout the whole event. So, with better things to do I quickly collected myself and left the school to find a good place to train my pokemon before the upcoming battle. I'm also looking forward to the next few days because the eggs should be hatching soon.

Leaving Pokemon Tech in a jovial mood, I started to think about what kind of training I should do for my pokemon before the challenge. This might be my biggest challenge to date, because I saw the rewards of the new quest I was issued.

[New Quest!

Woah! You had a school arc even though you didn't go, you uneducated hick. In your crazy delusions of strength you decided to challenge the top dog of Pokemon Tech. Your mission is to keep your undefeated streak going, and not embarrass yourself by losing to the person you challenged. It'd be pretty embarrassing to lose on livestream when you were the one who asked for this. So try not to lose!

Reward: 1,000 PGQ coins, 4 gacha tickets, 50% PGQ store coupon x2, PC System function unlocked, rep increase]

I've never got PGQ coins as a reward yet, and this large amount has me concerned about the upcoming battle. It looks like I'll have to train hard during these upcoming days and do some research on my opponent…

-Meanwhile on the way to Mt. Moon-

"Hahaha I've won the boulder badge! Look out Indigo League, Ash Ketchum the future pokemon master is coming! Isn't that right Pikachu!"

"Pika!"

Meanwhile Ash and Pikachu were hyped up, the two people trailing behind him didn't look as excited, each looking glum for different reasons. Misty was nervous about meeting her sisters again in Cerulean, while Brock was depressed from getting rejected by another girl.

Brock the former Pewter City gym leader left the gym to his father who had just returned, and now he travels with Ash to pursue his journey towards being an official Pokemon Breeder. Meanwhile, Ash is currently looking for a trainer to challenge to keep his victory high going. Fortunately he doesn't have to wait long because he comes across a young boy with a backwards blue cap who is currently on a tablet looking at something intently.

"Hey you! You're a trainer right? I'm Ash from Pallet Town and I challenge you to a pokemon battle!"

The boy who Ash challenged was Joey who Rian had crushed before, but he was different from back then. He had a more serious vibe and a stern expression on his face. Looking away from his Tablet he gives Ash a quick look over before shaking his head in disapproval. On the tablet you could see an article the headline read, "Up and coming trainer Rian Ambrose challenges Pokemon Tech prodigy!" Facing Ash with an unfriendly look, he then responds, "My name is Joey and I accept your challenge. You'll be a good stepping stone towards the person I want to battle. Let's do this, Raticate!"

What happened next was a short battle with the winner being Joey, who left the boy holding his Pikachu in concern. Heading towards Mt. Moon so that he can keep moving towards his objective. To defeat the trainer that destroyed him and show him that he's not a waste of time…
