Into the mind

I wake up, palms sweaty, heart thumping, a nightmare. One of the many I've been having lately. No one knows why, not even professionals. It all starts out in a field, tall grass, gray sky, and foggy. I'm aware when I have these nightmares, like lucid dreams..too lucid. Around me, an old oil lamp and box of matches, it's dark so I light the lamp. I can't see clearly 6 feet in front of me, but with the lamp well lit now, my visibility is now up to 9 feet. I look around, nothing except tall grass, up to my waist, flowing with the wind. I spot trees near the edge of the field, I know I should stay, but something compels me to go to the woods, into the dark, creepy woods. So I do. I make my way through the thick grass towards the woods. As I make my way over I hear a low, dark growl. I look behind me and see something. It has big teeth, sharp claws, and black beady eyes, and a bear-like build. It roars and charges at me. I turn back towards the woods and run, faster than I ever have before. I make it in the woods, but don't stop, hopping over fallen trees, running around thickets and dodging holes. By the time I run out of breath and have to stop, I look behind me, but see no sign of the creature. It's gone, and I'm lost, in the middle of nowhere. I spot a hole on the backside of a ledged rock, on the side of a hill, and take shelter. By this time, it had started raining, making visibility worse than before. I lay down as far back as I can and close my eyes, hoping I wake up, once more.
