Chapter 12: Goodbye My Love

Michael’s POV

There had to be a mistake. My ears had to be deceiving me. The entire day, I was under a false impression of love and happiness. The kiss hadn't meant to her what it had meant to me. I had jumped the gun with plans before I even asked her how she felt.

"Michael, say something,” Havana pleaded.

For the past half hour, we sat in uncomfortable silence. Words swirled around my brain unable to make a coherent sentence. I felt like my heart had sunk to the bottomless pit of my stomach.

I didn't know what to say. Our kiss was a mistake. Those were her words, her feelings. She had just spit in my face and wiped her mouth with my heart. What did she expect me to say? I couldn't lie and say everything was fine when it wasn't. My heart was breaking.

"I like you, Michael, but you're engaged and I'm with Kaden."

There was that name again -- Kaden. The man who abused her. The reason she was in the hospital. All he wanted was to use her until she had nothing left to offer.
