Chapter 27: Regrets

Grey’s POV
I paced my cabin floor as I tried to calm down. I’d never seen Emma so angry. Her temper was a match for mine. Staying in her presence while we were both furious was a guaranteed disaster. I didn’t want anything else to be said by either of us that we would regret.
She really threw me when she pointed out Denhurst was hers.
But she was right. I had no legal claim here. Even though I’d taken care of Denhurst, her father, and the other shifters long enough to feel an emotional claim to it, Denhurst belonged to Emma.
She probably said what she did in retaliation for my remarks and attitude. I saw the hurt on Emma’s face when I doubted her claim of shifting. Knowing I was the reason for that look pierced my soul, but her claim was just too convenient when I know how badly she wants to stay.
