Chapter 3

Eliza begins to wonder if it was a good idea to go home. With her parents who are at work and Angel Clark, her big sister, who is at university, she realizes that she risks feeling alone, which will not necessarily improve her condition. Going straight up to her bedroom, which is on the first floor, she lies down on her bed, hoping that she will be able to fall asleep, but such is not the case. On the contrary, she turns her gaze towards a frame placed on her bedside table in which there is a photo where Noah hugs her. Once again, she can't help but burst into tears. She finds it difficult to understand how she finds herself in such a situation. If at first, she wanted to take a nap, in the end she did not stop thinking about the man she loves. Not seeing the time pass, she hears the doorbell ring when it is three o'clock. Going downstairs to open it, thinking it's Noah, she discovers it's Alison.

- Hello my darling, launches the young lady as soon as the door opens. Alison notices that her friend's eyes are red. You cried?

- I'm losing him Alison, says Eliza before starting to cry again. Faced with such a scene, her friend cannot help hugging her.

The ladies enter and head to the living room to chat.

- Who are you losing? A moment. Were you in a relationship?

- I'm losing Noah...

- Did you have a fight?

- If only that could be the case...

- This is starting to stress me out. What's going on with Noah to make you feel so bad?

- Noah almost got himself a girlfriend. It's only a matter of time before he gets married to her.

- Can you explain to me please? I have a little trouble understanding.

- Do you know the girl who arrived at our house at the beginning of the second trimester?

- I don't know her, but I heard about her.

- Noah had a crush on her. Worse still, the current passes very well between them. To make matters worse, his aunt lives only a few meters from his house. Since she lives four hours from here, she's going to spend the week with her aunt and, from what I understand, she's also interested in him. It's only a matter of time before they're together now.

- You're kidding me, aren't you? Alison suddenly resumes, rolling her eyes.

- Why are you asking me that? she wonders.

- You are going into a full depression when nothing has happened yet! Instead of being a spectator, take charge of your future, shit!

Eliza is a bit stunned. She hadn't expected her friend to talk to her like that.

- He likes her! What do you want me to do?

- Make sure they never get together!

- How do you expect me to do such a thing?

- Stop hiding your feelings from him and fight for him!

- What's the point of me telling him I love him when he doesn't feel anything for me, Alison?

- How do you know? she bounced back immediately. Has he ever told you it won't work out between you two?

- I put on new clothes today, but he didn't even notice them, she tells him sadly. He couldn't think of anything better to do than talk to me about Audrey.

- You should have asked him to change the subject! Alison replies. You didn't have to listen to him talk about another girl if you weren't interested.

- What would I have given him as an explanation? I didn't have any trouble with Audrey! He would have realized that there is something fishy. Do you realize that I've been waiting for him for five years? I don't see myself in a relationship with anyone else.

- In this case, take your courage in both hands and tell him how you feel!

- What if he doesn't want to talk to me anymore?

- You ask yourself too many questions. If he doesn't talk to you anymore, you will act accordingly but, at least, you will be fixed. You can't stay like this forever! Do you realize that even Mr. Green is worried about you?

- What? wonders the young lady. How do you know?

- He talked to us in class after he expelled you. He asked us to be attentive to your needs because you are not well. He even prepares special notes for you!

- Does he really do that?

Eliza finds it so hard to believe that a smile appears on her face.

- Here. I can't believe it's the teacher who manages to make you smile? laughs Alison.

- It touches me enormously that he seriously thought what he told me. He's so stern I never thought he could have a heart.

As the teenage girl's chat, Alison hears the outer door open. Looking through the window, she sees Noah burst into the yard.

- Are these my parents?

- No. I don't know if you'll take this as good or bad news.

- Could you be a little clearer please?

- Noah is coming to visit you.

- I kinda expected him to come; we always go back together normally. What should I do? she asks him when the bell rings.

- I advise you to confess your feelings to him, answers Alison while getting up.

- Won't you stay with me?

- It's something you have to do alone, honey. On the other hand, you call me tonight to tell me what happened, okay?

- I promise, the young lady told him with a smile before getting up in turn to accompany him to the exit.

Eliza feels the anxiety taking hold of her more and more. She is aware that her friend is right that she should tell Noah everything, but she greatly fears his reaction, especially since she doesn't want him out of her life. After opening the door to let Alison go, she smiles at the young man as she passes him, he who is advancing towards Eliza, who is still wondering if she will find the courage to take the plunge.
